It's a good question. Sadly, we sold the car not long after I fitted it, otherwise I could confirm if it's still intact. Certainly for the time we still had it, it held together perfectly. It even went through the MOT. I would highly recommend it, purely both on price and ease of fitting.

To be fair, I only used the hammer to make light taps for adjustment, rather than full-blown whacks. I just wanted them to be seated correctly before putting everything back. I can safely say they work perfectly fine and have been for several months now. 😉

Totally understand and respect your point of view buddy. Ultimately, I wanted to try out something different to what I normally do and document the proceedings along the way. I expected some people to enjoy it and some to not. Yes, the thrill is there, but, alas, so are the risks. I guess this sort of film attracts a different audience to those who are more interested in looking round some classic Capris! 😀 Thanks for your comments as ever pal. Thanks for your comments Allan. Naturally, yes, I could have bought new parts, all round in fact. I like to try and salvage what I can when I do these sorts of jobs. I'm confident that I was able to re-straighten the pins enough for them to have not not weakened. The assembly is still holding up to this day too. That's said, I appreciate your point. Regarding the tyres on mine, they are 225/55/R16, so indeed slightly smaller than yours. However, I did some research on this and it is still a recognised size for that wheel. I bought them as spare set a few years back. Ultimately, I want to put my XJR wheels back on when I can sprt out time and money to replace the tyres (I got punctures ☹).

Hi mate. Thanks very much. Glad you liked the video. 😀 If I'm honest, I'm not sure. The connectors could be sealed within the hoses. If they are, you could risk damaging the hoses swapping them out anyway, if you can even by the connectors separately. The thing to take note of is exactly where the leak is coming from in that connecting area. Is it the male end or the female end? Are either of the hoses split at the connecting ends? What you don't want to do is purchase a replacement part for the wrong bit and still have leaks anyway. Have you checked if there is an O-ring on the male end? I can't recall from memory if there was on ours. If so, try swapping that first. You can literally buy them for pennies. If that doesn't work, try applying some gasket sealant around the outer circumference of the male end. Not too much, as you don't want to have any of it getting into the pipe channels and blocking them up. If none of these work, you could try swapping the connectors out, if indeed you can get replacements. You just have to remember that if they are sealed inside the pipes, those seals are broken once dismantled and you'll need to find a way of getting them sealed again. Not sure if this would be glue or jubilee clips. If it is still leaking after all of this, replacing the pipe is probably what you'll have to do. Looking on ebay, you can get the complete pipes pretty cheap to be fair. Hope this helps pal. Keep me posted on your progress. We're based Mansfield-way. 👍

Cheers Rich. It's cool mate. Not going to delete your comment. I'm always up for constructive critisism. Yeah, the car has some parts with rust on them, but they weren't rotten, so I just left them. I probably ought to have given them a bit of spit and polish. I've had a few people who have mentioned about the oil film on the discs also, so I'll certainly remember these bits in future. I'm by no means a qualified mechanic. Just a regular guy trying basic tasks on his heaps of poo. Hopefully with more practice under my belt, I'll convince you to let me attack yours with my spanners! 🤣

Cheers Eamo. Blimey. You've got about buddy! You are quite right. That Merc was indeed a diesel. We've seen it on a few occasions now. It's very clean. When Dad and myself had a holiday in Egypt about 25 years ago, that same Merc was also absolutely everywhere. That and the Peugeot 504. Same sort of reliability I guess. Lol.

@@jimmykneesall I was a Manager in Nigeria at one point(Oilfield). My youngest son had an episode, we got a Lebanese brother to take him in a W123 as an ambulance, he bullied and cut through the traffic and my son revived. W123 Mercs ! Love them. Best 4 door car ever made !
