Is it just me or this show is kinda shit. Princess is inconsistent. In the start she's ambitious person who has plans of ruling universe, but then she does drugs amd have sex in the club. She hates rebels and cares about her family, but then she goes to a rebel guy who planned to kill her and her family because her brother finally got attention. I get that she's bothered because she sees BG sister's manipulations, but show doesn't convince me to believe in such radical change in such short time. And BG looks so fucking lame. I just don't have a feeling of them to be cold-blooded, cynical, dedicated to the duty, smart and highly trained women who's controlling universe from the shadow. Everybody is just bitching around for any reason. Mother Avila is the only decent character in sisterhood. She argues a little bit, but overall acts wise. And the scale in the show bothers me. Palace doesn't look like the heart of known Universe whick it is in the books.

I have no one to discuss this with. Am I dumb for not even theorizing that possibility. I mean it seems obvious now

Glad they mentioned that the hunter seeker doesn't insta-kill players. Wouldn't be balanced to have a full squad using hunter seekers in PvP.

It’s a compelling theory and fits logically with the character motivations and the plotlines. The whole motivation for Valya is the Atreides feud & that for her is Vorian Vorian Vorian. The DNA thing has to reveal something shocking & significant otherwise it wouldn’t be a plot point. Really looking forward to seeing if this plays out!

There is a problem. It spice travel is reliant on spice and the navigators. How can the emperor attack them or any other house? All they have to do not move the army of the imperium around, which Paul eventually did allowing for the Jihad.

Book reader x 70 years. Agree with your Vorian hypothesis. The timeline is right and all the people Valya and Tula killed were his relations and descendants including Dorotea who was his great grand-daughter. The DNA test will prove he is Vorian and we will get a flashback to what exactly happened on Dune with him Griffin and the worm. Probably it will be similar to the books.

Oh wow this is a clean hot take. The eyes are they Agamenom? are they Leto II? If the show took that route then there would be some flashbacks to flesh this side some. That....would be sick!

I sooo want this to be the answer rather than a ghola of the “real” Desmond! You know how the trailer for next episode shows the Atredes swordmaster being surrounded by guards presumably sent by Desmond? It would be an awesome twist if he revealed himself to Kieran afterwards. If I remember correctly, in the books didn’t Vorien create a bunch of branch Atredies lines? Maybe that comes up (while still having his sacrifice-to-hide ending….after basically creating the Saudakar). We know the sisterhood survives for the next 10k years, as does the breeding program, and from Lila presumably the birth of the Spacing Guild. Are we thinking what happens is Desmond wins a half victory? Maybe the end of the show sees Tula and Valrya fall, BUT the dream lives on, with Desmond warning Kieran not to trust the sisters?

God Brian's books are just ridiculous. I really wish he had not tried to expand on his father's work. If Frank's Dune is poetry, Brian's is a limerick.

They seem to be laying his character over Manford Torondo, the tech hater, but with some weird twist- although I admit, Vorian Altreides is strangely absent which could be why other Altreides are given new roles.

But why wouldn’t they recognize Vorian. Vorian also doesn’t have the Jihad attitude about machines. He’s also not the type to hate the sisterhood. I want to understand why Shai Halud is projecting site through him, it’s a totally new direction from the books.

Adding on to my other comment… Who/what else would be identified by DNA? Another reason I think it’s Vorian. …and they keep mentioning him as well.

It is mentioned in the books, that the Attreides hold a special loyalty to House Corrino, and have for generations always been at the emperor's call. So, good catch! Very possible... will be interesting to find out.

Totally agree! Also - remember in Ep 1, the piece of black fabric he's carrying that they do a close-up shot of? It looks like the same type of fabric Harrow Harkonnen is wearing in Ep4 - likely whale hide, which could be a remnant of what Griffin was wearing when Vorian was trying to save him on Arrakis from Vorian's weird half-siblings Andros & Hila who eventually killed Griffin, and were even more... enhanced than Vorian. Vorian could have easily taken a piece of it when he had Griffin's body returned to Lankiveil. (Not saying Griffin was wearing a whale hide coat in the desert, but might have had some on his person for... reasons.) Also, with Sister Theodosia being a Face Dancer, I'm even more convinced because that would be two Tleilaxu creations in the show.

yeah, that threw me for a bit of a loop. I've read the books (though it has been a while). I seem to remember a mention of other drugs used in the agony before spice was discovered. I don't think spice became a thing till much later. Certainly not during the time of prophecy when the sisterhood was just starting out.

Your theory proved right by dune prophecy tv series. Harkonens refused to go to war and they also stopped genocide it's the greedy power hungry artidies who wronged the harkonens.

What if "Orry", Tula's fiancée's name, was short for Vorian & he himself was Vorian Atraides?

Absolutely loved this episode- So much intrigue/double crossing. I can't wait to hear your take on it, But I need to watch it one more time first. There was SO MUCH to it 😮

I got to see a preview of the first episode at one of the local theaters tonight. I'm pretty intrigued so far, especially by this character.
