First, I'm not an instructor, just an average guy who likes to shoot handguns. So, I'm not going to give advice, but I'll tell you what I do. On my Shadow Systems, the left thumb is on the thumb rest. On my Glocks, the thumb is resting on the ridge at the top of the frame and pushing into the slide. As for grip pressure, a good analogy I heard is that my right hand squeezes as hard as possible without squishing a banana, my left hand squeezes like I'm trying to crush an apple.

@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo My instructor, who I see rarely because I am perpetually broke, taught me that my right hand is lightly holding a baby bird and my left hand is doing everything to kill the baby bird XD

I agree 100% that that would be more fun! But, this is a sport, not tactical training. Solid walls would be a lot more difficult and expensive to move, maintain, etc.

I like the MR920P a bit more than the G45 with the Radian Ramjet & Afterburner.

I called it a comedy of errors. I went in to it thinking I'd be happy if I got a solid C-class ranking. I got low-ish C-class, so I'm not happy, but I'm definitely not upset.

I might have shot 200 rounds on just one stage! 😂😂😂 Assuming no makeup shots, 302 rounds total for the match.

I've got something planned soon. Not a showcase of this XR920, but it'll give a closer look.

That's exactly the situation I wanted -- a Glock with all the upgrades without having to do all the upgrades. At least I can say my carry guns are 100% stock, if that really matters. I hope your XR920 turns out as good as mine has been!

I used a variety of 115, 124, & 147 grain ammo. Magtech, S&B, Speer, Hornady, & loads from local manufacturers. Both FMJ & JHP. I don’t remember if I had something else on there initially, but that gun now has a Holosun EPS MRS dot.

A lot of ??? Mistakes? Yes. Cringe-worthy moments? Yes. Cursing? Yes. Learning opportunities? Yes. It was a good, fun match. I shot better than I expected (as far as accuracy), and I performed only slight worse than I anticipated, so I'm not at all upset with my performance (or lack of). I certainly wasted too much time with makeup shots, which aren't rewarded in USPSA like they are in IDPA.

@Delta-Alpha-Kilo I meant just a lot of targets and thinking. I would have struggled for sure. Does look fun. In USPSA I think you have to let off the brakes and get some c zone hits. Speed is more beneficial than accuracy. Tough stuff for us IDPA folks.

They call it FDE, but it's the ugliest shade of FDE ever. So ugly that it's ironically cool.

Weather was awesome after it warmed up! I shot OK today -- a few good stages, a few bad stages. I don't flow well in USPSA style stages.

What issues did you have? After the break in period, mine have run perfectly.

Which one did you order? The Agis?

@ I ordered the Xyphos Elite with no sidecar attached. Wanted to try a stand alone holster. But i just received an IWB mag holder from Amazon and it’s pretty nice and very cheap so I’m gonna order another one.

I have the MR920P, XR920, & CR920XP. Love them all, but the MR is by far my favorite

@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo, can I ask why the MR over the XR? I have a lot of G17 mags so I’m leaning towards the XR that comes with the Holosun 507C installed.

@@R3L72 As you know, they're the exact same gun other than the XR has the longer grip, which lets me get sloppy with my strong hand's grip/placement. The MR with the magwell forces me to maintain a more consistent grip. The MR is also easier for me to conceal, but that isn't my deciding factor as I still run G17 mags in it.

@Delta-Alpha-Kilo , hmmm, I’ve been struggling with which one to get first. I have the G17 & 45. I like the 4.5 to 5” barrel full size and I’m decent with them. At least to close out 2024, I’ll go with the standard MR and see how it agrees with me. Like what you were pointing out, my grip too, may be off and the MR would clue me in. I feel better about the mag issue as if the MR agrees with me, I can just get more pmags/ Gmags and still utilize the 17 rounders. Thank You for your input @Delta-Alpha-Kilo, MR it is and hopefully I’ll start out 2025 with a comp’d version.

@@R3L72 Just to make the decision harder... I went with the MR920P and the XR920 since you can interchange the grips & slides between them. That way I've essentially got the MR920, XR920, MR920P, and XR920P.

About 200 rounds should be good.

Mine didnt require any break in it ran flawlessly it is the XR920

@@seaocean4868 I don't recall any issues with my XR920 either. I'd have to re-watch my first shots video, but I think the XR920 has been good since the very first round.

Oh, I got hurt! Nothing serious, just a reminder that I’m not a kid. My knee is still a bit jacked up. Glad I got it in video, as it confirmed I was doing the important things (muzzle direction & trigger finger) correctly.

I had a great time (except for the first & last shots, I kinda tanked those stages)! Great match. Look forward to doing it again next year. Thanks for donating your time to be out there for us.

Thanks. Not going to lie, that fall hurt - knee is still swollen. I’m mad because I had a really good stage going before that fall.

now ive never played warzone, but i doubt you give commands in the game… and you’re posting mostly fails… does you playing warzone make you a trained tactical shooter?

The hands are no-shoot targets. We specifically avoid those, and we get penalties if we hit those. But, I imagine you'll have some sort of issue with that too.

Minimum distance for steel in IDPA is - I think - 10 yards. The first steel was about 15-ish yards (you can see the forward fault line in the grass as I jump out of the cart, that line is 10 yards). The second steel was probably right at 10.

Is this not speed training? Wouldnt you want to just tap most targets not waste 1+ seconds every time trying to get center mass

For the MR920P & G19, I use a T1C Axis Elite with a Streamlight TLR7 for both competition and EDC. On my larger guns (XR920 & G45) I run a T1C MSP Pro FLX with a Streamlight TLR1-HL. Have you had a chance to shoot yours yet? Once you get past the break-in period, you'll love it! Only 1 minor issue for me during the break-in. Keep an eye on your trigger spring -- on 2 of my SS's the coil end connecting to the trigger housing was a bit stretched, allowing the spring to work free from the housing. I carefully tighten that coil back up and have had no issues at all.
