No worries Victor - glad I could help! They are super rewarding and easy to care for; best of luck ☺️ how exciting!
Hi my bird of paradise I took out door which she gets direct sun and I notice her leaves fold, how can I help her Worry plant mom
Hi Cecilia - no worries, I have done similar to my plants where I’ve moved them outdoors; they’ll just take a bit of time and patience to acclimate to the new environment. Bird of paradise love full sun, but if they weren’t used to it, the leaves could potentially burn if you transition this too quickly. Hope that helps!
Helloo! Watching from Sri lanka❤️😍
hello!!! thankyou for watching from Sri Lanka <3
Hang a bug zapper lite over your plants! Left mine up for 2 months till I Heard no more zaps! Over a year now & no more gnats! Rev.. J. 😊
That’s a great tip! I’ve tried that too - actually did it once when I went overseas for 1 week and I grouped them all together against the balcony door and kept the bug zapper on - came back to a cemetery of gnats on the floor 😅
I'm so happy I found this!!! Thank you for reassurance that my happy plant is kinda okay if browning. I definitely had him in too much sunlight though. I just subscribed and about to watch more of your videos.
No worries, I’m glad you found it useful and thankyou so much for subscribing! My tips have browned over time but they have gotten better - doesn’t necessarily mean your plant is dying hehe they’re pretty sturdy plants and even after weeks of neglect mine has still held on pretty fine! Hope that helps ☺️🍀
No one speaks of this plant flowering. I found out accidentally.
I gifted one to my friend and it flowered! How amazing ✨

I'm a Hort. My smart female indoor pot plant nerds tell me they use a combo of bottom saucer water and on the top of the pot they carefully make holes into the media with there fingers. Here they use a small plastic container to pour water into the finger holes which prevents the top layer from staying moist.
Great idea - and in my case, stabbing the top layer of soil with a chopstick 😂😂😂 I guess if you don’t mind getting your fingers dirty, that’s all good too! Thanks for sharing ☺️
There is a yellow and brown spot in the middle of the leaf of my plant , how do I fix it without cutting it off?
hey there - unfortunately yellow/brown spots cannot be reversed, so you could cut it if you wish - don’t worry, if anything, cutting it off will allow your plant to redirect its energy to new growth, so you will eventually get new leaves ☺️ hope that helps!
THANKS SO MUCH BRO, Love from Mumbai !
No worries ☺️ happy to help 🙏
Hi my plant is dying and I've had it for years. O think it's the shock of all the moving we have done. It started growing again but now it's dying again so not sure why? Can you please advise 🙏🏼
Hi Samantha - transport shock can definitely contribute to the appearance of its health diminishing. How long ago did you move? Also, have you repot the plant into new soil in the past couple of years? A repot gives your plants a refresh of nutrients it needs to continue to be healthy ☺️
Hi How are you .? can you please tell me, what should i do if i see bumps on back of the leaf on bird of paradise

What kinda fertiliser did you use?
I rotate between a brand called ‘plant runner’ and ‘powerfeed’. As long as it’s got NPK in it, your plants will go gangbusters for it ☺️🍀

@@ebotebot5 no worries, happy to help ☺️
How often do you find you are watering your plant?
I average about 1.5-2 weeks between watering ☺️ will depend on your climate and substrate but it has been a little colder lately in Sydney! Hope that helps
@@simpleplanty that does help! Do you mist yours at all? The humidity isn't the best in my house. About 43% usually.
@@cammiforeman no worries, glad I could help. Do you mean misting directly on the plant? I generally would not recommend it and feel like it’s the biggest misconception - usually if there’s residual on leaves this can cause more problems than do good. In general misting only raises the humidity very temporarily (unless you have it on all day, etc.)
Also, the Thai is pretty easy in my experience, I’ve actually recently put her outside (it’s currently autumn and humidity is no way near 43%) and the temperatures have been going down to 14 degrees overnight, yet she is still producing a large healthy leaf right now!
So it means they can tolerate full sun for couple of hours a day, right ?
Absolutely ☺️ if it isn’t already in a place with full sun, might be a little time for adjustment. Hope that helps!

Hi what for soil are you use for your monstera? And what for pot is better plastic or a terracotta pot?
Hey hey! I am currently using a mix of a bunch of products that I’ve bought from my local hardware store. It’s a blend of orchid mix, indoor potting mix with perlite and charcoal added. I’ve actually just purchased another brand by the Plant Runner that is called ‘Aroid Mix’ that contains a blend of orchid bark, perlite, coco peat, charcoal and compost which looks like an amazing mix for my future repot (but it’s basically the same as doing it myself but with a premium price tag 😂). In general, adding some drainage into your mixes is highly recommended for aroids such as the monstera ☺️ hopefully that helps!
Oh and also, I wouldn’t say one is ‘better’ than the other and it’s by matter of preference; terracotta pots tend to dry out faster (essentially better drainage) which means you’ll generally have to be watering more frequently so your plant babies aren’t so thirsty - as for plastic pots, I use these for most if not all of my plants (just from an ease and aesthetic purpose). Hope that makes sense!
This grows all over South and central American i am from the Equator guess where and I've seen them in the city growing producing its fruit like crazy
That must be such a luscious and beautiful jungle to walk around 😍 do ever let me know if you get to taste the fruit! Would love to hear your thoughts!!
Oh but be careful.. can’t just harvest a random one and eat it as I heard they’re toxic if not eaten at the correct stage
They certainly are like children! Totally dependent on us!
Sometimes I do wish they could water themselves 😂😂😂
I did forget to mention…..watering day for all children, are the same day! 😂🤣 Makes it easier that way! Of course, a few need watering more than once a week. Not very many. Have a great week!
Ah yep! I suppose I would do the same if I had a complete Amazonia of plants 😂 have a lovely weekend!!
The most I do for the care of the children?! Lol 😂 I spritz the ones that love spritzing, every couple days. That would be the most, or the cleaning of them! Lol 😂 I have no human children! Lol 😂 You are correct! They are basically my children now! Lol 😂♥️💕
Plants are living things too 😝 just like children!
James, I really don’t do a whole lot of care taking! They are my kids now! Especially since my 15 yr ol dog has crossed that rainbow 🌈 bridge😭😢! I water at least once a week. Sometimes more, depending which child needs it! 😂 Sometimes I have to switch places with each other. My royal Queen about went out the window!! I wasn’t watching her close enough! She’s in recovery! Doing much better already! She’s only about 5 inches tall! All starters that I always purchase.
Awww I’m so sad to hear about your dog 🥹 I have the little one at home who sleeps with me every night, so I completely empathise. Once a week doesn’t sound too bad, as it just seems routine to set aside / allocate a time period to just do them all in one go!
Easier to use small zip ties
Definitely! I have purchased so many packs of them now cos they’re so useful!!
Watching from Florida. Beautiful Pothos.
Thankyou for watching ☺️ hello from Australia 👋👋👋
If it starts to outgrow the trellis, can you cut it back and propagate?
Hey Florence - you most definitely can! That’s what I have been doing - and gifting my top propagation cuttings to friends who want to grow a monstera for free ☺️
I would anchor trellis to the wall.
That’s actually a really great idea - ensures maximum sturdiness 👍
Very gorgeous. I only just came across your channel now. I currently have two Thai constellations, but at one time I did have eight 😅. The baby is in soil in my bigger one is in Leca :)
Thanks so much Kay! What happened to the other 6? 😂 although, 2 sounds way more manageable!
@@simpleplanty I sold them to get a bigger Thai haha. Although I’m trying to buy another big one tomorrow so I can chop and prop my one lol. Mines not super variegated. Gorgeous but.. lol. Hopefully it’s still there because I saw it last week but Bunnings in Orange had a really nice variegated one.
@@KayBX so good! You must have sold at such a great time, because I’ve noticed the price these days have dropped on the Thai 😭 each leaf is like a work of art 🤩
@@simpleplanty it has. My first Thai (20/30cm tall) was $137. Now almost metre tall ones are $99 at Bunnings. Also, I rang them up and they had one left and it very hard variegation… I asked them to put it on hold 😂
@@KayBX so envious! My Thai was $499 😫 it’s crazy that they are literally around $99 these days - I’m definitely due for another one, since I’m so impatient to propagate 😂
This is soooo helpful, thanks a bunch! Was really thinking about making spaghnum moss poles like what I’ve seen online but your take about time constraints make perfect sense. I don’t feel as pressured anymore and now I’m just after an option that suits my lifestyle. EXTENDABLE COIR POLES it is!
No worries Charles! Glad I could help - the upkeep for a moss pole is just too much for me and my busy (aka: lazy) lifestyle 😂 It still has great aesthetic if you’re not bothered to keep it moist though but they can be a little troublesome to extend. Thanks for commenting!
Leafs are suddenly drying how to recovering how to protect. Please tell me 🙏 what is the reason i dont now
Could you describe a little bit more of the problem? How are the leaves suddenly ‘drying’? Would be more than happy to help ☺️
I have three of these trees one of them is growing extremely well another one does not have any leaves on it at all it's just a stump and the other one my third one is about to be just a stump I don't know what I'm doing wrong with it I'm watering it good I'm making sure that all the water dries up before a water again I'm giving it sunlight I don't really know what I'm doing wrong with it but if it's just a stump will the leaves grow back on it I checked the roots on the bottom they're perfect there's just no leaves on one of them and like I said the other one is about to not have any leaves on it.
It does sound like you’re doing the right thing from your message / do you ever apply liquid fertiliser to your waterings? Stumps do eventually evolve over time and can grow back the leaves - so maybe give it a bit of patience and it will get there ☺️
@@simpleplanty no I do not what type of liquid fertilizer do I need to get where can I use any fertilizer?
@@AngelReyes-fu9xv basically any fertiliser that has NPK in it will do well. NPK stands for nitrogen phosphorus and potassium which will give your plants a boost! You can get them at nurseries and hardware stores and they are added to your water when you are watering your plants ☺️
@@simpleplanty thank you.
@@AngelReyes-fu9xv no worries ☺️
great video .. but really the green plant velcro is the best imo
Thanks for the feedback! I agree - super convenient!!
Great video..
Thanks so much! Hope it helped ☺️🍀
James Which moss pole do you prefer? The D moss shape pole, or the round moss pole? Have you actually tried, or have, both styles?
I tend to make my own which means I only have really tried the round moss poles. Just means that the roots are escaping the other end at most times - which I can imagine the D moss shape pole would be quite useful for! I can see pros and cons for both ☺️
@@simpleplanty 😊🌱🌿excellent informative video! have you discovered a solution to help eliminate the mold when using a moss pole? in case you may still have that challenge, perhaps try leaving a bit of a gap between the moss and top of soil line, and fill that space using aroid mix or another breathable less dense medium. since the base area of the moss pole touches the soil, should it remain as breathable as possible? have you tried this method? I’ve seen a few folks here on the tube who also make their moss poles and have used that method without mention of mold/bacteria issues. I’m also torn between the semi-enclosed D-shaped pole vs round. I’m thinking the D-shaped pole may help contain the roots as well as keep the moss from drying out too quickly. just recently added this plant to the mix and excited plant care. thanks again for the helpful info. cheers and sanitized plant shears! 😊🌱🌿
@@mizcreativelyme thanks for the words of wisdom! I’ve actually not had too many mould problems since, but this is because I’ve been not as diligent in watering my pole 😅 otherwise your method sounds great! I would see pros and cons for both types of moss poles - but as I make my own, I tend to just have the round ones which have done me well. If you plan to prop and chop, they’re probably a better alternative, but you’re right in saying that if you have the D shape ones, they would be better to keep the roots intact and growing in the moss. Hope that helps ☺️🍀
I have the smaller one 😢 I hope it gets tall
I’m sure it will! Give it plenty of light and TLC and before you know it, you’ll have a giant! 🍀
James, Thanks you so much! I’m sorry I’m a bit slow! You about have to draw me a picture!! LOL
Unfortunate that we can’t post pics on here 😂 you’re not slow!
James, Do you mean, you just water the plant? Not water the pole?
Hey Debra - I mean water the pole ☺️
James, I seen where one person had this pump water bottle, that he was wetting his moss poles down with? Is this how you water your moss poles? Do you even water the pot at all? Or, just soak the moss pole?
Hi Debra - you could do either ☺️ I generally just hose / water the general area when I’m watering my plants, but you definitely could employ the water bottle technique 💦
James, Thanks you! That does help. So, sounds like I better use moss poles, not coir, or the wooden dowels I purchased. . I’ve decided to get moss poles. I want my plants to their fullest potential!! By the way…..I have watched other videos too. Those peoples are using moss poles too. I love your videos, because you are so helpful to me. Also, I love seeing your brood!! They are Beautimous!!
No worries, Debra! The whole reason why I started this channel was to help - glad you went down the moss pole route, just have to continually maintain it by keeping it moist and your plants will have the best chance ☺️ happy planting! You’re doing amazing!!! ✨
James, I almost forgot?! Do you have to keep the coir poles moist? If so…..I have a philodendron on one of those poles? I’ve never only poured water over the pole, once or twice.? They are a bit different than the moss pole..aren’t they? Thanks you again! Debra
Hey Debra - the coir poles don’t need to be moist; won’t be much use to attempt to moisten them unfortunately 😅 hope that helps!
James, Do you have another video, showing how to get the cut monsteras, off the moss pole, for placing in other container pots? Thanks again James!! Sincerely, Debra
Hey Debra - thanks for reaching out! I’ve not yet made one about doing this specifically, but it’s a pretty simple procedure. Just ensuring that you are cutting at the right place between the nodes (and especially top cuttings work very well). There’s heaps of other resources out there, but lovely of you to check with me ☺️ thank you!
Hey James, Quick question! Do you like the moss, or the coir poles better? They have some on SALE, 63” poles on Amazon. Thanks you James! 🤗 Debra
I like the moss ones (assuming you can add sphagnum moss into them) when I particularly care about a certain plant and a coir totem if I’m lazy ☺️
Why not use pesticide? Mealy bugs are very easy to kill, and they don't come back like spider mites. I don't think rubbing alcohol is a good idea, as it destroys the protection layer on the leaves and can do damage to the plants.
Hi Amanda - absolutely, you can use pesticide pretty safely if you wish ☺️ I use a whole bundle different ones, depending on what I am treating! White oil has also been serving me quite well as of recent - but best to be sprayed outdoors.
Hi my monstera is dying I feel I watered it too much plz help
No worries - I can help! How often were you watering? If you absolutely know you’ve watered way too much, a real tedious method you could deploy is taking the plant out of the pot and wrapping in paper towel to soak the excess. This could be very messy and risky though, but it’s preferred to just wait it out and reduce watering the next time! Hope that helps ☺️
James, Was it one of your videos I was watching? Did you cut one of your Monsteras, into several pieces, going clear up the moss pole? Yet, leaving it in the same pot? If it was your video? What’s the purpose? Thanks James I believe I will try moss poles, but, …..ordering from Amazon, much better price. Have you ever used a plastic moss pole? They do have some of those too? Thanks you James! Debra
Hi Debra - I’ve definitely chopped the stems up for the purposes of propogating (making new plants)! Just takes some time and effort, and then I basically have more / for free! If you want a cheap option, I’ve seen some selling on Temu where you just need to add moss in it. Honestly, any stake is fine - there are just some that are more suited to your situation than others. Hope that helps ☺️
What do you mean by pruning?! I’m a new plant mom and my bf just gifted me two new joy pothos
Pruning means simply cutting off the leaves ☺️ I usually just cut back damaged or wilted leaves as a normal routine exercise. How exciting - I’m sure they will flourish under your care!
@@simpleplanty thank you for your response and for making these informative videos!!! Would you go into depth of liquid fertilizer ? Or do you have another video that explains how to distribute it?
@@crylas3637 no worries at all - glad to help! Liquid fertiliser is amazing - you should look out for ones that contain NPK (nitrogen phosphorus & potassium). Ones I use here in Australia are by the plant runner and powerfeed and my plants go gangbusters for it. I’ll usually apply it to my watering once every 2-4 weeks during growing season (spring/summer) and cut down during winter. Just make sure you’re administering the right dosage from the product, as they are all different ☺️ hope that helps!
