Treating Lice in Chickens using Elector psp

Just passed day 21 with my hatch, just a test batch really bc it’s my first time hatching chickens. One black Maran egg (well, father is Americana so hopefully olive ever!) and one Americana egg. i live in michigan, no deadlly snakes, unlike SCaro
Mice and rats pee as they walk leaving heavy scent trails . Enough for other mice to use in lightless caves . I think that snake was following a scent trail .
@@halninethousand-sh5wc well that’s great! I appreciate the help with pest control.
@@MojoHomesteadFL the snakes have evolved into rodent hunters with that body ,where a mouse can go , they can . They flick their tungs like gene simmons , to seekout amd follow these trails . A mouse can wreck a cars wireing inside or under the hood . A snake will even go under dash to eat a rodent and babies . Its their primary food source with lizards . Had two close calls rattle snakes this summer and never nefore . Found one baby skeleton . Caught released first no problems but 2nd large one wasnt playing . It ran into my cats pen and into their house . We fought it out until i denoggined it with a shovel... 5 hours later i was taking the hide and disecting it with no head heart liver . As i snipped about half way down along belly ,the empty body struck so hard that it came inches off the table into my lap ... Dont mess with them they are not weaker than us . Total animal fan and only snuffed it because it tried to snuff me . I will stuff the skin with marbles for a bean bag . It had 3 mice and 1 lizard in it . I Didnt have much to say Sorry ,

I have a 1 month old silky that isn’t using one of it’s legs all of a sudden it seems to be eating and drinking but sometimes it gets stuck on its back
@@stephensmith7054 silkies in particular can also be really prone to vitamin deficiencies as well - but a parasite issue could Definetly perpetuate a vitamin deficiency.

I been giving poultry cell since Friday that’s when I noticed it I haven’t seen worms or anything and nothing looks to be injured and no pasty butt either
I treated my hens today after receiving the 9 ml bottle of Elector PSP. I needed to know how long the solution will be viable after mixing - hours? a couple of days? - in case I couldn't get all the birds done by myself. So I called ValleyVet who sells it and they had me talk to the vet, herself. She was amazing! Turns out, as long as it is out of sunlight, it will last 24 hours once mixed with water. Also I asked about this "one-time application" that every TH-cam chicken lady is advocating and the vet said that is NOT true. The directions clearly state the treatment has to be repeated in 7-10 days, although she recommended 14 days. Still, I did some research in scientific studies and there is some indication it works as an ovicide (kills eggs) but not 100% of the time; only about 63% of eggs were consistently destroyed. The problem is that the developing insect inside the egg doesn't have a nervous system yet and the bacteria affects its nervous system, so there's some distinct moment the bacteria has to come into contact with the insect as it develops. Anyway, it's not 100% or one-time only. Anyway, I thought folks would want to know. Normally use coconut oil to repel and destroy lice AND the eggs, and it works a charm annually on the few that get it while foraging on an acre around wild birds and their lice, but this summer was super hot and humid so the hens been lying around more which made it more difficult to control. Coconut oil is the only thing that actually breaks down and destroys and eggs of both mites and lice. It's the caprylic acid in it. Also continues to repel them and soothes their skin and promotes healing.

100% my friend! We are in NJ. I did in my early years put some heat plates up in couple coops. I didn’t notice difference! Think of the little birds who live in wild they do fine! I believe pour on is for external parasites only like mites etc. If you want to treat for internal worms, it's best that they drink it.
