    Regarding the priming with the hose - that's not necessary as long as the "default" priming process works. Turn ignition on (but not the engine) two or three times, until no air bubbles are heard.

      Hi, The dpf is going to be located very close to the engine bay side of exhaust so the dpf will be up near the firewall of the car, the dpf temperature sensor which i presume you are after, should be located in the centre of the dpf (large bulge in exhaust) any sensors before and after the dpf will be most likely o2 sensors. I cannot show you unfortunately as i do not have a car similar with a dpf. Hope that somehow helps you.

After I removed the 3 screws I could wiggle the pipe but not remove it to clean it. Without being able to visually see the end I didn't want to go to far out of fear something was retaining the pipe. Watching the video the pipe looks like it should slip off without a problem. I did wiggle it plenty but wasn't able to get it off. Great videos BTW to watch and I hope you keep them coming. partly blocked egr is the most efficient, as there is less exhaust gas going to cylinders. By cleaning that tube you let more exhaust gas to the cylinders. It's actually less efficient. Of course if it's totally blocked and you get a code, then its necessary to clean it.

    • @ifixedit7909
      @ifixedit7909 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Parus sorry, i do not agree, i feel like a lot of people are misinformed about EGR’s. The Egr reduces the amount of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gases, however nitrogen oxides are caused due to higher intake temperatures, so the EGR (most of the time electronically controlled) monitors this and diverts gases accordingly, it opens and closes when the temperatures are high or low. If the exhaust gases are too high it will cause pinging and detonation due to wrong air/fuel ratio’s igniting, causing inefficiency. Not to mention prolonged detonation can cause a lot of engine problems such as valves, pistons and turbo chargers to fail. EGR can reduce pumping losses, improve combustion efficiency, improve knock tolerance and lessen the need for fuel enrichment.

    • @fuddworld6214
      @fuddworld6214 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ifixedit7909 Sorry IFIXEDIT, But I disagree with you, you are using gasoline engine terms which do not apply to diesel engines. On a gasoline engine, the EGR is a good thing and does what you say it does. But on Diesels, the EGR is 100% an emissions control device. Yes it does reduce NOx by reducing combustion temps, but only because the EPA strictly regulates NOx and forced engine manufacturers install them. Diesel engines LOVE HIGH COMBUSTION TEMPS. EGR on diesel is bad because it dumps soot and combustion byproduct back into the engine, contaminating oil, clogging intakes and swirl valves, straining cooling systems and reducing useful engine life. A Diesel engine is a Compression Ignition engine! Of course it detonates, it is supposed to do that. How do I know this? because Diesel engines (unlike gas engines) do not have a knock sensor. Diesel engine run on "knock", Pre ignition cannot occur. A diesel combustion event can only happen during the fuel injection event, the fuel injection event (unlike a gasoline engine) only happens when the cylinder is at or near the top of its stroke. Diesel EGRs were introduced in 2004. ONLY because EPA mandated lower NOx. Full disclosure, I am a tree hugger and I will live with my DPF, but EGRs which push diesel engines into an early grave are a terrible solution to the NOx issue.

    • @seabirdsolar
