She caught the fly, but did not kill it. She is quick (they are all strong) and also gentle. They defeated their own inner doubts ( your worst enemy), the figures in white. That's why the reflections in their eyes are themselves.

I really love the message in this song, and especially in the MV. The girls fight their own “inner demons” in order to move forward toward their goals. Also had the pleasure of seeing this live myself a few months ago. Amazing! 🤘🦊

💀 ⚡ 💕 / 👻 👻 👻 As you mentioned, like a lot of BABYMETAL songs, this one has a positive message about facing life's challenges. In this case, those challenges are both internal and external. For this song, Su, Yui and Moa watched a lot of martial arts movies and worked with their choreographer, MIKIKO to incorporate those kinds of moves into the dance routine. I love the scene where Moa catches a fly (and later lets it go free). Did you notice what was revealed when the masks of their adversaries broke apart at the end?

Nice reaction. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (2016). It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - that was a very important thing for them as well. As with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards. The figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists). Moa catching the fly (you may have missed that when you paused the video) was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time .... and she let it go. We all know Moa wouldn't hurt a fly. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards".

💀⚡ 💕 / 👻 👻 👻 It's interesting to compare this choreography from MIKIKO, to the one she did shortly afterwards for the Perfume song 'Flash'. Both dance routines are influenced by martial arts.

Moachan caught a fly with her fingers. I'm pretty sure this is a reference to the film The Karate Kid 1984. The sensei is from Okinawa and tells his student if you can catch a fly with chopsticks, you can accomplish anything.

Waacking is the rotating arm dance you were thinking of. The choreographer (who is also the choreographer of Purfume. She was also the Choreographer of Sakura Gakuin, the group that Babymetal came from. I would recommend you react to Verishuvi- dance version. See if you recognize Babymetal. ) went to New York to train in hip-hop dance. Some fans used to print fake Babymetal money of their own design and throw it up for the crowd during this song. I think it started in Mexico. Actually they started by throwing it to the girls but Babymetal got tired of stopping the show to cleaning it up. It's dangerous to dance on paper.

I always thought the translation was funny. Glad to hear that it's funny in the native language as well. It's one of my low-key favorites. As a Su-metal superfan, I'm not quite as keen on black Babymetal, but I must admit this is a gem.

💀 💕 / 💸 💸 You were right about the song being more of a B-side. It was included on a limited edition of the 'Megitsune' single, as well as the first album. I think this song owes more to nu metal than to JPop though. It even uses a sample of Fred Durst's voice at the beginning. He was the lead singer and lyricist for the band Limp Bizkit. 'Onedari Daisakusen' is a Black BABYMETAL song. That was a sub-group of BABYMETAL with just Yui and Moa, without Su. Of course Su had her own solo songs during concerts. After an almost five year break, they brought this song back for two of the ten 2021 Budokan concerts. In that version, Moa played the part of an older girl instructing her little sisters how to sweet talk their parents into buying them stuff. I thought that was a great way to revisit a song that they had grown out of. : )
