great informative, My one question is, are we using our own TM data base from our own previous works? or the system looks for all the data base available to it even from others? also is it possible to work offline,or not? as the data base is on cloud

Does anybody know what cat tool ACROSS PE/WEB is? Anybody used it? Is it good? BTW the lecturer is Susan Sarandon's lost twin.:)

What I particularly like about this demonstration is that Dr Rolland is clearly not very computer literate (as is the case with me) yet she is able to use the CAT software with confidence and ease. I am prepared to give it a go.

An example was eluded to where a whole raft of auto propagated suggestions contained errors. I am correct in assuming that these TM entries can deleted from the memory?

I completely accept that CAT is necessary and indispensable for any commercial translator. What I do question, however, is the value of a TM that can give as many as 200 suggested translations for a segment (or part of). Is it really going to happen that a busy translator will scan though any but the first three or four prompts? By analogy, who bothers to go to the second page on a Google search? The point of my question is, is there a danger that the translator could gradually sacrifice their creativity, and in essence become, themselves, a machine translator? Albeit utilising their own historic database.

At 7:00 - 45,000/300 = 150 brochures. The document word count appears to be out by an approximate factor of 10.

She doesn't say how to integrate the spell checker into the cat tool. She does't really get down to the nitty-gritty. In fact nobody does in these so called cat tool tutorials. I don't think cat tools are user friendly, let alone intuitive. If they were I wouldn't be watching these videos.
