Beautiful cool day in Central Georgia in March 2023, light winds and mostly sunny. A perfect day to slow troll some spawning crappie. Using Road runner under spins and some Z-Man Micro Fry Z Shad plastics, swim baits and twister tails. Even threw some minnow and bobber and caught a few. 1 nice channel catfish and a speckled catfish. It was a great day, caught over 30, kept 24 total for the day....

Is there anyway I can sue this channel, I lost my hearing due to the terrible sound effects
Potato bread works better or old fashioned bread
Next time I'm out fishing for Tilapia, I give it a try. Thank you for watching my video
Nice video man where is the pond located at?
Lake Avenue south i think, Largo/Clearwater . Thank you for watching
I went fishing at a private lake and it was loaded with tilapia you can keep as many as you want and they don't want you to throw them back i prefer the smaller ones just over hand size butter fly and fried or baked in onion and pepper with lemon... the bigger ones tend to have a funny taste but if you toss them on the bank gator will get them so they say toss them in the woods and maybe a racoons or something else eating them iv seen big birds coming to eat them to. Iv caught them on worms even caught one in the eye with the hook lucky catch
Sounds like you had a great time! I agree, they don't want you to throw them back. There is way too many. I don't eat them, I just enjoy catching them. They are a lot of fun. Good luck out there and be safe! Thank you for watching my videos!
What month is this. Im wanting to go during the spawn
February, but I can't predict an exact day or week. It all depends on the cold fronts that we get here, the rain and most importantly, the water temperature.
@@jimmybrownfishing thanks i was just wanting a idea. I heard around January or February. I grew up in port richey. I never tried for crappie when i was younger just went for bass down there. Im in Pennsylvania now. All i do is crappie and walleye fish now. Ill be planning a trip to head down there this February. Lol.
When is it normal for spawn in lake tarpon. What month seems to be the sweet time
Sometimes late January, but the best time is February, for sure. Hope to see you out there this spring. Thank you for watching my videos! Have a good night!
Hey there, was your morhers name Donna?
Yes
Is this my cousin or uncle?
Uncle Ben
Your Mother was my sister
@georgeb6507 good hearing from you
What ramp do you use? Chestnut park?
Anderson ramp off of 19, open 24/7
do you allow the lure to drag on the bottom our go up 2 ft from the bottom?
The first thing I do is use my fish finder and figure out how deep the fish are. And I try to troll a foot or 2 above them. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.
I tried fishin those from the hillsborough River and they just dont bite for me
I never tried for them there. Ponds work better for me. Good luck!!
@@jimmybrownfishing there's whole schools of em more than you can count and they are HUGE at least twice the size of the ones you caught they just don't bite
Are you trying the same technique that I used? And are you throwing some bread in the water and see if they'll eat it before you start fishing
@@jimmybrownfishing I chum the water in the mid day when they seem to come out then I toss my hook out there and they literally look at me and almost mock me lololololol
The only other advice I can give you is to try to stay close to the bank within 10 to 12 feet of shore. Don't give up! Are they eating the chum?
Awesome video, but one question what brand boots are those?
They are an off brand called HISEA. bought them on Amazon. They are insulated. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching!
I can not get the bread to stay on the hook and also the breads sinks instantly
Make sure the bread is fresh, not dried out. Pull off a section the size of a quarter and lay your small hook on it and fold the bread over and flatten it. If you keep practicing, you'll get it. Just make sure the bread is fresh, and not dried out. Good luck. Let me know how you do. I have several Tilapia videos, check them all out. Thank you for watching

my grandfather made these to feed his hogs
That's awesome. Great idea!! Thanks for sharing
Just moved to largo, where do i need to go? Seems like bass fishing sucks around pinellas county
Walsingham park and Lake Tarpon have bass. Lake Seminole also has bass. Thank you for watching my videos
They are stacked in there I’d love to fish that
You got that right!! Thanks for watching my video
@jimmybrownfishing where do u get tackle from
I get the jig bodies from Cast Cray Outdoors, Netcraft Fishing Tackle and Academy Sports. I get the Road Runner jig heads from Netcraft and Bass Pro Shops. I do 90% of my shopping online. These are all great places to buy from. Thank you for watching my videos. Good luck!!
@jimmybrownfishing type of trolling motor u have? Type fish finder as well
Minn Kota trolling motor and a 7 inch Garmin fish finder
where is this located at?
Lake Ave s Clearwater
@@jimmybrownfishing hey boss nice video were exactly is that fishing spot been trying to go bass and tilapia fishing thank you appreciate it
@julian23421 on Lake Ave S in Clearwater/Largo area. Thank you for watching. Good luck!!!
@@jimmybrownfishing I can’t that pond what’s the road name
@julian23421 lake Avenue south
Nice. where is this located at?

I will have to give this a try. I feel that I may have tried bread before, but not the chumming part. I want to catch some of the the huge tilapia I see around in the ponds but never seem to have any luck. I have tried a wide array of baits with no luck. They seem so spooky most times. Thanks, I'll give this a try.
Let me know how you do, good luck!
I’m curious. How long are you normally out far on your trips. I noticed you seem to fish bigger lakes with just your trolling motor and wondered with your setup how long can you fish? Thanks. Enjoy your channel.
I always take 2 trolling motors and 3 batteries on each and every trip whether I'm out for 2 hours or 10 hours. I good battery will last all day trolling. As of 2 months ago, I sold all my Jon boats and purchased a new bass tracker 17 foot aluminum. Thank you for watching and hope you subscribed. Good luck out there
Thanks for the reply and yes I’m a subscriber and enjoy trolling much like you do.
Basically you do not show even 1 way to catch tilapia, no explanation of technique, bait....nothing...it is just a video of you catching tilapia no showing anything
If you check out my channel, find the most recent Tilapia video. I give step by step instructions. Thank you for watching
real dandy! what did you use for bait?
Bread is the best
@@jimmybrownfishing geez ok some say corn or worms . But ok thanks I see so many here in Miami . One was albino real huge , so close you can touch :)
They are vegetarian and corn should work. Send me a picture of that albino if you see it again. Look me up on Facebook at jimmybrownfishing. Thank you for watching
@@jimmybrownfishing you give me your email. I don’t have Facebook and then you could delete the email. Sorry.

I live right down the street form there. Used to catch a lot of catfish there years ago
That's awesome, I live about 15 minutes from there in Largo. I caught a bullhead catfish and lost a huge bass last year. Good luck and thanks for watching my video
Me and my friend fish here all the time I live like next to it😭
You catching Tilapia? Good luck and thanks for watching my video
Can you do a small video on your rod holder stand? I want to make one to troll this 1,000 acre lake I film at. I get nervous letting my rods just stand up in the back of the boat. I have expensive gear haha. I do have rod floats on my rods as well, but haven't tested them yet with a fish on there. I was going to spend $30 and build one out of PVC, but you can't use a 2x4 or 1x6 board on the bottom of the boat due to the grooves.
I'll see what I can do but I'm in the process of moving. I'll message you back if I can get it done and posted. Thank you
Good video Jim! Glad to see you on TH-cam.
Sorry I haven't called you back. Thank you! JC
Thanks for this vid & all the info! I was fishing a Tilapia bed & couldn't get a bit, gonna give it another go with bread.
I hope you start catching! Good luck with the bread and appreciate you watching my video!
Worst video. Doesn’t show hooks, bait, or anything for people trying to learn. Won’t waste my time with other videos.
Hi Piper Claus! Appreciate the feedback. Comments are always welcome. Have a great day!
That parking fee is ridiculously high!
Absolutely crazy high! Beach is nice and quiet
Where un georgia did you go
Henry County resident only reservoir! Good luck
Good to see you back Jimmy!
Thank you! Hope to be out a lot over the next 3 months. Crappie should be spawning here in Florida in about 2 weeks then it's off to Georgia the 1st week in March. Hope to have a few videos coming as well. Thank you for watching!!! Have a great week!
Long time Jimmy……..enjoyed the video ole boy! I bought a new grizzly 2072 3 months ago and have been lake tarpon a couple times and did good with the crappie. On the 9th of jan the storm we had come through dropped a huge oak tree on my boat. 🤬 working with the insurance company now in hopes to settle with them this week. The boat is toast….I’m going to inquire about the salvage. What lake did you catch these crappie in? Take care and have a great week. 🇺🇸👍🙏
Sorry to hear about your boat. Hopefully insurance will pay 100%. Caught 22 crappie out there about 4 weeks ago using roadrunner jigs. Had my girlfriend with me and she caught half of them. Did not shoot a video that day but wish I had. The bite should get real good in a couple weeks. I just hope the weather cooperates. Sure we'll see you out there. Good luck, take care.
What size of hook would you recommend i tried using a size 20 and it broke
I use a size 4 short shank plain hook. You could also try a #6 short shank. Good luck
Can I use Circle hook for Tilapia?
What bait do you use for Tilapia?
White Bread is the bait of choice for me. I heard corn kernels is good
Do you use float ? When you fish the Tilapia?
I love to use a float when I tilapia fish. But I prefer to use a hook only. Also, i've never used a circle hook for tilapia, but i'm sure it would work. Thanks for watching and have a great day
New sub, thank you for the video. I just stocked up on some ribbon tail worms for the New Year. It's a great pond fishing bait. An old school, simple bait that always catches them!!!
Awesome crappie fishing!
What you use as bait to catch these fish ?
Use small pieces of white bread on a small hook. Don't use and weight. I usually take small pieces of bread to chum up the water and get them active. Good luck out there and thanks for watching. Please subscribe and check out my other videos. Thank you
this lake was so well stocked before the remodel, before they had the catch and release signs i saw people taking buckets full of bass home on a daily basis damn near dried it out to only pan fish and tilapia there's barely any bass now a days
That is a shame. However, controlling the bass population can help produce larger fish in the near future. Thank you for watching this video. Have a great holiday week! Jimmy Brown
@@jimmybrownfishing likewise 👌
great videos my friend. Im newer to the area, Clearwater and am looking for someone to fish with. Avid fisherman. Fished many years professionally in the midwest. Gimme a shout if you'd like some company.
What part of the Midwest are you from? I'm originally from Indiana.
do you ever keep any bass to eat? I watch ALL your videos and "thumb up" appreciate your time
I do not eat any bass in Florida. I have eaten Smallmouth Bass when I lived up north, very tasty. Glad you're enjoying my videos. Fall crappie fishing is coming up in a few weeks. Going to try some in Georgia and Florida. Enjoy your weekend! Thanks, Jimmy
Are you using split shot when vertical fishing or drifting?
Yes, a small split shot works good to keep my bait down in the water column where the fish or suspended. Thank you
What set up do u have the most luck with in crappie fishing in central ga
Trolling with 1/8 ounce underpin jig heads with 2" grub twister tails or Bobby Garland Split tails are my 2 go to set-ups when trolling for crappie. I also tip the underpin jig heads with a live minnow. All of these work well in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Indiana. Especially during the spawn season. Thank you for the question Good luck and be safe!
Going to lake tarpon tomorrow morning. Launching at A L Anderson. Enjoyed the video Jimmy. Have a great weekend. 👍🇺🇸🙏
I thought about it but the wind maybe too strong for my small boat. Good luck and let me know how you do! Have a good weekend Sir!
@@jimmybrownfishing I am bringing over kill 24 foot key west CC 250 Yamaha. I park it in the pads. 👍😂 going to try to get a few panfish and maybe pick up a couple crappie. Have a good one Jimmy. 🇺🇸🙏👍
There are huge bluegill in there, go catch them! Have fun and be safe!
Is that a public boat ramp?
A.L. Anderson Park boat ramp. Open 24 hours on Lake Tarpon.
Ok, thanks gonna go out there this weekend. Just looked it up, seems like a nice park there as well.
It is a nice park. Have fun and good luck out there! Be safe!
Going to give Tarpon Lake a try in the morning. Try to get a few blue gill and shell crackers and try for a few crappie. 👍🇺🇸🙏 enjoyed the video Jimmy. Have a great weekend. 👍
Let me know how you did. I'm trying to get out there in a week or two. Thanks
@@jimmybrownfishing just got back Jimmy…no crappie but we caught some 1 lb 12 inch blue gill and shell crackers. 38 👍
Great job!
I just recently found out about A L Anderson park. I have always salt water fished but getting a bit too old to keep getting beat up going offshore. Over the past couple of months I have enjoyed fishing in Lake Tarpon…..now I need to sell my rig and purchase a smaller rig for lake fishing. I currently have a 239 FS CC keywest…..over kill 😂😂 we will probably meet in the near future. Im in Palm Harbor. 👍🇺🇸
I'm in Largo and I'm sure I'll see you out there this fall. Thanks for sharing your story.
