I’m new to the channel and I enjoy your videos. Especially when you long line trolling for crappies.

During the next six weeks I will be doing a lot of trolling for Crappie. I'm also taking a trip to Georgia in March to fish the crappie spawn. Appreciate you watching my videos and subscribing. Thank you, Jimmy Brown

hey Jimmy, truly enjoy your videos - can you catch crappies from the bank at Lake Tarpon? I don't have a boat 😒- a loyal subscriber

There is a boardwalk on one side of the boat ramp and a clearing on the other side of the ramp at John Chestnut Park . I've caught crappie in the boat ramp area but only from my boat. Not heard any reports from shore. There is also public fishing from the bank at CL Anderson Park too, North end.

I went out to Tarpon today and did some jig trolling. The wind was crazy for sure! I did get into some on east side of the north part of the lake in 9-10 feet. Lots of short strikes, any advice on getting more of those bites to stick? Caught only 1 out of 8. The others all got off fairly quickly. Any advice is appreciated!

My advice would be to troll as slow as possible. If you're going to slow, the jig will drag the bottom and you'll know to speed up. Try smaller jigs when getting short strikes. I love to troll for crappie but it's not always the best tactic especially when the winds are ripping. Good luck out there, be safe and maybe I'll see you at the lake. Thanks for watching!

On lake tarpon,do the crappie spawn in the lilly pads? I am use to them spawning in structure an am not finding that here

You'll find the bluegill and bream spawning under the lily pads soon but I've not had any success with crappie there. When crappie spawn, got to 4-7 feet of water. Shallow short line troll or use live minnows close to shore if you can. See you out there. The spawn should be soon.
