@@bimmerphdmotorsports2226 I was wondering if the GM gearbox helps reduce fuel consumption, but I tried it on the E90 model and it was effective in saving. I returned the ZF gear because the GM I brought was used and had problems shifting between the second and third gears, so I brought a ZF gear specifically for the 335. Note: My car had a 2-liter engine. I changed to the “n53 engine without changing the gearbox, so I faced all these problems. I thank you for the information you provided.

@@bimmerphdmotorsports2226 yeah I’m thinking about doing a conversion to a manual hopefully oneday .this transmission repair is pricy and all shop want to diagnose it but like remanufacture transmission + new torque converter All ready swap price and labor no idea of there head they don’t want to say so I’m just gonna do a conversion 😬

i have this same issue, only happening when using 1st gear, or downshifting from 2nd to 1st in my automatic 6l45. someone recommended i change my mechatronics sleeve. not sure how to, hoping someone can help

Hi Steve, once you change the fluid the computer will starting slowly adjusting the adaptation to compensate, ultimately it will balance out in the long run. The transmission is adaptive. which means it learns how you drive & adjusts slip points to give you the firmest yet smoothest shift. If you have a shutter its best to find a shop to read the adaptations correctly as these transmission also have common failures in the internal pistons of the valve body. Those are repairable also. Least cost of repair is the most accurate testing for diagnosis. thanks for your support.

On the side of the transmission there is a small label that has serial number & the trans #.

Hi Carlos. Yes you should absolutely keep looking for a qualified shop. As a former BMW dealer technician, we are taught not to service the trans. "it says LIFETIME" on the label. But what does LIFETIME really mean? Whos lifetime? after many hours of training by ZF transmissions we have an answer. LIFETIME is the warranty period BMW NA stands behind their product. 6 years 60k miles. Most owners want to get the most from their BMW's. The manufacture wants you to buy their latest greatest model. its not in their best interest to service your transmission. Why do you think they provide brand new loaner cars. Anyway one full proof way to know & understand what is going on inside your transmission fluid is to send a sample of the fluid to a automotive lab for oil analysis. Like a blood test. We use www.speediagnostix.com/ for an accurate analysis of what happening in that fluid & how to protect for wear. Hope this has helped you see things for a "different" point of view. yes Absolutely. Adaptations are the learned algorithms your transmission has developed from your driving style. it is an adaptive system. Resetting them & re-learning or re-teaching adaptations is part of the service. That is what I've learned as a BMW factory technician over the past 20 years. Any shop that hands you the car & says go drive it....has not be taught the importance of following through to the end of the task. the adaptations on a GM transmission have to be taught by driving the vehicle in a certain process for the algorithm to learn proper shift points. A basic OBS scanner will not provide access to these files. We pay BMW annually to access rights to access diagnostic's & other information, its part of proving professional service.

I have the same humming/buzzing sounds coming from my engine. I believe it's the boost solenoid. Common with the N54. Mines an N55. Rare, but they can fail. Having it diagnosed next week. Fortunately, it's a $100 piece from FCP Euro and an easy DIY from what I've seen on TH-cam. Hope it helps

@j.5akajohnny577 good question. For high mileage vehicle that have not been serviced to your knowledge. We recommend a complete fluid exchange. We use a special machine that will flush all the contaminated fluid out of the vehicle while filling the system with fresh fluid. You can actually see the progress and feel the result afterwards.

If the seals are not replaced it could result in internal pressure loss & shifting issues/ We have seen the transmission malfunction light come on when the main adapter seal (made of plastic) breaks. Since the transmission operates of hydraulic pressure, it is very important to keep the fluid fresh & all the seals tight.
