In this video, we have a look at the newly-opened Capstan Station. This is a really exciting time as the entire thing happened out of the blue. The announcement was made only two days after posting, and the station opened only 20 hours after that.
Capstan station is the 54th station on the SkyTrain network. It is between Aberdeen and Bridgeport on the Richmond branch. Plans for the station first appeared during the line's original construction, however construction did not start until 2021. This station is notable for being among the first stations in Canada to be built with developer money, of which $30 million was raised. Due to ongoing logistics shortages and unstable soil conditions, the cost was increased by $10 million. At 80m long, the station matches existing Expo and Millennium Line stations, which is something that will be deemed useful in the long-term future for obvious reasons.
