Those are awesome, how do they absorb sunlight?
@@CoilCode they absorb through the roots! Which is so fascinating! I love nature!
Having trouble reading the tag. Do you know it??
Yes! It’s Sarcophyton Pachyphyllum
Whoa beautiful orchid!
We’re is these place
This is Waldor Orchids in Linwood, NJ
Such gorgeous blooms!!! Amazing collection you have! Love the phragmipediums and Masdevallias!! Amazing!
@@emmanuelV37 thank you so much! I’m so glad you like the collection! :)
So many gorgeous blooms. The Aerangis punctata is going to look spectacular! I've never seen one with so many buds.
@@annavoeggia816 I’m so excited for it too! Fingers crossed they all open for me!
Hi Bryan😌🙌I love your orchids🥰They are well grown
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you like them!! :)
Cool variegated cattleya! How long have you had it?? Any issue with the growths or leaves??
I’ve only had it for about 2 months and it grows pretty standard for Cattleya hybrids. No issues with growths or leaves. Apparently it blooms a few times per year but this plant bloomed out in late spring.
What is that cool piece of wooden log/pot that you have the laelia in?! It’s so neat!
Haha that’s a great question! It came with the Laelia I bought at Emerald City Orchids. It’s hollow so it is a great natural “pot” for orchids that like good airflow. I would recommend reaching out to Emerald City Orchids. I’m sure they sell them! :)
@@OrchidsByBryan thank you! Love it
great flowers. You have some very nice ones. I've never seen a variegated catt before. I do see some mite damage on it but you might want to ignore me on that opinion. It's the kind of opinion that got me banned from missorchidgirl's channel for example - she does have a very trigger happy finger. Some people prefer to just not hear about these things. And they are so small it's practically impossible to eliminate them. Then there's the people that would say rubbish, it looks super healthy. So yeah take it all with a pinch of salt, I am super OCD. If you are curious to confirm it, pretty much the only way to spot mites is to inspect the plants in the middle of the night when the lights are off with a flashlight. The mites hate the light and during the day they will hide inside the pots so you will never see them. They are also ridiculously tiny sort of the size of fleas so very very hard to spot them and even if you spot them it takes months to get rid of them so its not a popular thing for people to hear about and would rather just not hear about it. Still as an indoor grower I wish someone had told me early on. So I don't know how you will take it but if you are curious in any way or form, inspect the plant, but particularly the roots in the middle of the night. Shine a flashlight on them and blow on the roots gently to see if you can spot anything moving. It's ironic when outdoor growers say that they are envious of indoor growers cause we don't get pests but indoor plants don't get rained on (and flushed regularly) and indoors the conditions for breeding are ideal leading to big outbreaks I have had to deal with. The subtle signs the plants show - which is why I am mentioning it - are signs nobody ever talks about and act like they are completely normal. But saying any of this never makes me very popular so I shouldn't really be saying it. Still, like I mentioned I wish someone had when I was showing my mite infested plants online and everyone always just said "wonderful" Good luck with the digbyana. Yours looks really good. I've been trying to get mine to flower with no luck yet, definetely harder than an SVO hybrid. Yours looks really good but it also still looks a little small. Mine is much taller and still hasn't flowered for me. By the way you need to get some more angraecums. The rutenbergianum has a really unique fragrance to it. It reminded me of fresh peppers when I first smelt it. Sort of a musky peppery fragrance, like a spice cupboard smell but with an undertone of floral notes too so like a spice cupboard but much more alluring. It's a unique fragrance for sure but really pleasant to smell it. Still waiting to smell my didierii here. No luck on that one yet so can't compare them yet. Looking forward to your july blooms.
Thank you Tom! I love angraecums! Angraecum aloefolium and Angraecum urchianum are both on my short list! It did have some mite damage but the grower had treated them for a few months and finally cleared it! Pests like mites and mealy bugs are such a pain! Haha thank you for comment and for watching, Tom!
@@OrchidsByBryan ah thats good news mate and yes you are so right. It's good he cleared it. Take care.
Hello Bryan, Your plants look very healthy. Bravo. The variegated Cattleya is amazing. I had seen variegated Phalaenopsis but didn't know variegated Cattleya exist.
This was the first time I’ve seen a variegated cattleya too! Snagged this guy from Waldor Orchids! They are definitely hard to come by!
🤤Rlc. Spotted Sunset is GORGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to own a Rustic Spots / loved the color change from yellow to cinnamon.
Thank you! It was a pick up from Ruben and it has already bloomed twice in the past 5 months or so! I love both hybrids! Trusty bloomers that flower all the time for me! :)
do you have it in all moss or bark mix
I keep mine in shredded tree fern or Spagnum moss. I would say the media depends on how often you water
stunning blooms! thank you for sharing 🌸🌈🪄💫
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching!
Ha, I ended up buying this one! It's doing great!
No way! Haha that’s awesome! I liked this plant a lot! I contemplated picking it up too! You have great taste!
I like how you showcased the vendors, I’m more interested in what is brought to the shows than the displays :)
Thank you! I’m so glad you liked it! I always try to highlight as much of the vendors as I can! I always like watching videos of the plants I can bring home! Haha
....congrats on your new additions....with all the poor orchids being shipped around these days.....its wonderful to see some healthy looking ones sent......Kudo's to Ruben for being a good grower and a good seller......Im sure they will thrive in your care.....anything Mottes related is a good one.......vigorous growers...
Thank you! I'm going to try to share more unboxing videos in the future to highlight the great growers who ship plants! Ruben is the man! He has beautiful plants! The Mottes is one of my favorites! I cannot wait to see the blooms!
Great unboxing and some great additions 👍
Thank you so much! Im glad you liked it!
I used to have Lc. Tiny Treasures Pink Phantom is GORGEOUS made me think of the Pink Panther ;) Ruben w/Sunset Valley is a Class act ! He gifted me some crosses a year ago. they're still hanging in there.
I love the LC Tiny Treasures!! And yes, he is the best!! He has some gorgeous plants and super happy to share my positive experience with the world! :) that’s awesome that you have a few crosses from him that are still thriving! :)
@@OrchidsByBryan What few Orchids I've been able to keep Alive (18) aren't exactly 'thriving' they're just sitting there w/o any new growth :'(
Unboxng is such fun. Just ordered 3 from Krull Smith. Will be here this week. I like the gift plant!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have one growing on my wall! Love her! Super easy going.
How awesome!! I love these plants!!
It would be great if they put a bit more emphasis on the most useful orchids, the Vanilla orchids.
A vanilla orchid display would be very cool to see! Great suggestion!
Great video. Any other places in North East you recommend?
Great question! I’d say Waldor Orchids, White Plains Orchids and Taida Orchids might be your other best options in the northeast!!
Just amazing and stunning plant 🪴 😊
Isn’t it gorgeous!?
I've never seen a blooming Angraecum rutenbergianum on youtube before. Especially in America. Mine is literally just opening up its very first flower at mine but being a first time flowering the flower stem got stuck and the flower spur is stuck too so nothing worth taking a picture of. It was interesting the spur is so long it was wrapped around the flower when the flower emerged. Now I'm just waiting for the fragrance to kick in.
Wow! That’s awesome! I would love to see the flower when it does bloom out! Emerald City has some super cool finds!! :)
29:44 This oncidium would be my pick and I don't have any yet. Not sure if the coconut orchid counts. 36:52 Really interesting circular pattern on this phal. They have a lot of summer blooming type available. It was the first time for me to see an orchid nursery with turtles! 🐢
I love their summer blooming phals. They are all beautiful hybrids! Funny enough, this is my SECOND orchid nursery I’ve visited with turtles! Haha which I thought was just too funny!
👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Great Video Bryan. I use Cal Mag and superthrive. I am really careful with my Paphiopedilums and Phrags.
Thanks for sharing, Karen! I’ve heard great things about Cal Mag, especially for orchids like rupicolous laelias! I’ve been peeking around at some new fertilizer routines to try out!
I was born and raised in Maine (1950s & 1960s) and our forested area behind the house was filled with pink orchards or Lady Slippers. My dad,s #1 rule: Don’t touch the Lady Slippers.
Mhmmm you get in big big trouble for touching the lady slippers
Wow! That’s amazing! I love stumbling upon wild lady slipper orchids! :) and very cool that you’re from Maine! Cassidy and I are from Maine and MA! :)
If it was anybody, but Bryan-- but not by Bryan, can’t do it
Hahahahaha that’s funny! :)
@@OrchidsByBryan glad you appreciate the humor- sure you have too-notch product-best of luck!
Sometimes I mix it up and use things like a pinch of Epsom salt with a couple drops of seaweed extract or cal-mag. I've heard that new roots are more sensitive to fertilizer so I always spray the top roots with filtered water. My tap has a pretty high ppm (90) even after using a Brita water filter. Just a pinch of water soluble fertilizer can raise the ppm to 300 for 4 cups or 1/4 gallon of water. I've also heard that fertilized water at different PH levels helps orchids absorb different nutrients, but I try not to stress too much about all these things. If I see fertilizer build up in the pot, I flush with plain water until it goes away. I would only foliar feed an orchid if it was outdoors.
That’s a great fertilizing routine, Joe! And 90ppm is pretty good for tap water! I would love tap water that clean here! ;) haha yeah, i have a lot more to learn about fertilizing because there are so many effective strategies! I’ve been trying to keep a tally on the fertilizing that my orchids tend to like best and perform well with. I’m starting to get into Lepanthes so I have to be much more cognizant of water quality and fertilizer. They are sensitive little plants! :)
Wow!❤
Used to own this + Sherezade ;(
Oh no! :( I’m sorry you lost that one! I just bought a hybrid of Jewel Box and love it! It’s a more compact grower too!
Why can’t we see the rest!?
You'll have to watch the full video of Waldor Orchids that I posted on my channel! :)
