Well if all you have is a shared drive, that’s okay but you still have to go through the trouble of updating all of the files, and need to to make sure that your gateway has access to it. I’d probably recommend SharePoint, OneDrive, or OneLake as the “shared drive” since they’re at least online. But nothing can really substitute a true database platform as a data warehouse :)

I think OneLake is great and gives lots of good flexibility, but it also means a lot more responsibility falls on us administrators and architects to make sure that the random CSVs, Excel files, etc. are all manageable and accurate. I feel it also presents a problem for relationships. If a table has a userID with leading zeros and an excel file cuts them off, now we’re sort of stuck having to build functionality around one. Love the flexibility, dread the work to maintain and administer.

@@AK-ij9il hi there! While it is definitely possible to call APis directly from PBI, I would not recommend using it to call and APi that returns 300K rows like you’re intending. I don’t like using Power Bi for direct API calls because you lose all historical data as soon as you refresh. And I can also imagine it takes a long time to page through that many records.

I tried API method to connect power BI with hexagon EAM( Enterprise Asset Management, it's Asset management software) ,but I am able to load only 10k records at a time,and I loaded 3lakh records by changing records position, and then I tried to Append append all those records ,but not getting any result. If my method is not the correct way, then Do you have any other suggestions to use this API directly or indirectly to use in power BI, for report automation? It would be a great help for me if you can any advise on this

@@AK-ij9il hey there. So the method you tried is fine, it’s just not what I use because it’s too involved and not modular. The way I suggest is the way I explain in my video: call the API from PowerShell (or Python if you prefer), then store the results in CSV files or to the database. That way you can connect power bi to your stored data instead of directly to the APi and you never have to wait for your 300K records to come back.

@SQLDevDBA my ultimate aim is to schedule the reports, Actually I'm able to download data file In Excel format from EAM system, but I'm not able automate the reports, that's the challenge I'm facing As per your suggestion if I call the records and store as csv, possible to schedule the reports?

Eso mantienen los datos flexibles y bajo control sin tener que seguir desplegando el reporte. Si es para practicar así como el vídeo, o no tienes un SQL database disponible, está bien hacerlo todo en Power Query o en el reporte. Hey there, of course! You’ll need to first identify the correct data types for each column. Then you’ll need to run an alter statement on the table. ALTER TABLE [tablenamehere] ALTER COLUMN [columnnamehere] VARCHAR(30) Replacing the VARCHAR(30) with the datatype you decide for that column. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/tables/modify-columns-database-engine?view=sql-server-ver16

Also, you may be able to take a shortcut by casting the year as an int WHERE CAST(Raceyear AS INT) > 1990 Or in an order by ORDER BY CAST(RaceYear AS INT) DESCRIBE

@@ins0mniacwastaken no worries, glad I could help! Honestly a Clustered column store index is not 100% necessary, it’s just a shortcut. Brent Ozar has a site called columnscore.com which helps you determine whether it’s needed. You can absolutely sub with another index.

Thanks!! I ended up just buying the TChrono paddles to reduce sound, but haven’t installed them just yet. I’ve tried a few noise gates and suppressors aimed for loud keyboards and mouse clicks, but nothing so far has worked! I’ll be using a new mixer soon so hopefully that does it.

Hey @siddhantjain490. I want to say you’ll need to make sure you use the -InstallationPolicy Trusted command that is identified in the “Method 2” section of the downloads page. Also you’ll want to click “Yes to All” when you’re prompted to review/accept the certificates. Unfortunately I’m not tied to DBATools in any way (I just really like it) but they are quite helpful and may be able to help you diagnose the install if you contact them: dbatools.io/contact/

Kahmul the exhaust install needs to be done by a welding professional, and isn’t very difficult at all for them. The wiring is fairly simple but needs a 12V source. Usually easier if you go with the wireless option. Not sure what you mean by “damage”. If you choose to remove the cutout, a new section of exhaust (about 6” long) will need to be welded in its place.

Not sure how to respond to that. My unit was installed on two different cars for a span of about 1.5 years and didn't give me any issues. Did you contact QTP about it?
