Thank you for asking - but I really meant "E7". As this track is in the key of A major the dominant chord is E (major), which can be also replaced by E7, the dominant 7th chord.

The key of this chord progression is not 100% clearly defined, you are right there. But does it make a practical difference if you play or improvise along with this progression? There are many 4-chord progressions that can be interpreted differently in terms of the key or tonic. And the different perspectives are not right or wrong, they are just different.

😎👍 Yes, you're right! I didn't know this "Seminole Wind" song and googled it. And yes, this song uses exactly these 4 chords, E minor, G, D and A, with one chord per bar, while in my country rock the harmonies only change every 2 bars. There are probably many other great songs based on exactly this chord sequence.
