Last spring I uploaded a lost shoe. Last week while walking again at the same trail I saw a lost earpiece. Now the shoe has a friend. Whose next? Have a wonderful summer to all :).

Just the other week, while walking when this shoe caught my attention. Took a shot of it and thought someone must have lost a shoe or must have a wet feet.

This crossing is a quiet zone and how this is because I heard a wayside horn going on right before the train blew the horn, obviously the train blew the horn because of the car in the tracks

To all the cyclists in the comments, I'd like to ask if they enjoy lubing up like a porn star to prevent chafing, every time they need to go across town for a loaf of bread. That being said, this is clearly a non-enthusiast driving an enthusiast car. Enthusiasts are much more defensive drivers, because god forbid we use the roads built for us.

If you ever see an event like that, I *STRONGLY* advise you to stay well away from the wreck. All it takes is a ruptured fuel line or tank and a single short circuit for it to turn into a fireball. That actually happened in a similar crash I saw on TH-cam some years back. Not only was the woman car driver killed, but so was the loco engineer.

Stuck on the tracks? IMMEDIATELY clip a set of jumper cables across the tracks. Make sure your jumper cables are 6 feet long, and the jaws will open enough to attach to the foot or one end of the T (The rail top). This will immediately throw a red STOP signal on that block and an APPROACH on the next block from both ways. Then get away from the car and call 911. On crossings there are usually a phone number and a signal number marked thereon, which connects you to the railroad immediately. And if a train is coming, move quickly off the tracks and in the direction from which the train is coming.
Sound advice - and IF the train is not too close, that'll save the vehicle; but fully loaded freight trains running at line speed take an awful long time to stop.
@@jackx4311 Frankly, I am more concerned with the welfare of the train. No, this is not going to be a panacea for avoiding a crash. If a train is already in that block, it won't see an aspect change. However, comma, it might help avoid a crash. And you are right, a fully loaded consist at track speed can take quite a long time to stop.

Just some paperwork, but probably not a butt-load. And, as jacksonrogers7687 says, the train has *right of way* - road vehicles only have right of access.

Well, my cousin who's a conductor for the UP had his lead locomotive derailed by a VW bug. Yeah, I know it sounds ridic, but the VW engine rolled up underneath the pilot and under the front truck and off the rails they went.

I understand to stop a train, assuming you've got time, is to take a flashlight, start at 12 o'clock, make 3 revolutions, and then from the 6 o'clock position on the last revolution, take the light straight up quickly. In daytime you'd obviously use some sort of flag or rag that could be seen.
When I was in the local VFD, CSX came to us with a four hour class on working around trains. They told us that a white light or white object (T-shirt, wad of paper, etc.) swung UNDERHAND, from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, repeatedly, was a "Knowlegeable" stop signal.
@@capitolabill1921 hi Bill...my circular motion thing came from our previous Loss Prevention Officer, and also former investigator, New York State Police. As long as the train can stop!
The railroad signal to stop is to wave a light, fusee or hands from approx 3:00 until 9:00. However if someone is on the tracks waving their arms in what is an obvious signal to stop...you stop. Whether or not to apply emergency brakes is up to the engineer.
