      pretty much anywhere in the Patuxent River is good for crabbing in the summer months.

      I was using a float for a while but found it better to just free line. no sinker, just straight 20lb leader and small circle hook. Thanks for watching. peace

    I live in North Florida wher we use wire traps. I hav never seen it done your way. Looks like a great way to catch ‘em!

    Nice catches. Snook will always shake out of my hand when lipped without fail, man they hate that for some reason. Otherwise they are pretty calm like any other fish. I don't hold them like that if I can avoid it.

    Hey Robert, enjoyed the video. If you can, can you do a video which describes your equipment. Looks like a garden hose reel for storing your trot line? And how does yourr J hook attach to your boat? Looks removable. Nice boat , BTW.

      yes, hose reel to store the line. J hook is removable. I put it in my rod holder.

    Do you know if your allowed to fish there or not. rules say “no fishing is enforced durning life guard hours.”Does that mean after life guard hours fishing is allowed?

    That thing that looks like a ray was a clearnosed skate fish. They do not have stingers. When I caught one last year I thought it was a ray too because I did not know skate fish were a thing.

    If you place a chain in the middle of your trotline it will help control your line drifting with the current

    Hello Robert I’m John was a commercial trot line crabber for 15 yrs from laplata. But live in Perth Australia for 18yrs. From the drone shot look like your next to creek by by the power lines. I sure miss it. I got a honey hole for you I know you will catch nice crabs. I do have some tips for you. Glad you make video no one does anymore. I wish they did.

      @@ladybug1s I could not find chicken necks anywhere - I went with chicken drumsticks... I got all tangled up, in a thunderstorm and called it a day. I am still completely excited about going to try again.

      Good ole' Chicken neck does the trick for me. There are others using razor clams and say they produce well. also Bull lips and Eels are good bait as well. I have always used chicken and it gets the job does. You can get 40 pounds from Nick's of Calvert! Thank you for stopping in!

    Took a friend crabbing, first time dip netting, they dropped net in fifteen ft. of water. I looked behind boat twenty ft. back, and saw net with twelve inch length of pool noodle slid over handle end floating straight up, waiting to be retrieved. Lost a net once, never again.

    Raise that prop stick up about 2-3 inches , it will help with waves and when it’s choppy . And don’t dip so aggressively
