    The tangs are there on the bearing to keep the bearing from spinning.

    This method saves on vacuum pump and oil pump tensioner access seals! I just did my crank hub. I used a precision designed keyed hub. That required drilling. The splined hub is definitely the most budget friendly option, however if there is ever any maintenance that requires chain removal, the hub will be a real challenge. That being said, I like how this video was done. I like how you shoed the vanos timing tool fitting at disassembly, as thats better for finding TDC than the QR code IMHO. Great video sir

    I just wish someone knowledgeable could make a video on how to flush an E36/E46 SMG system. I have an E36 SMG and am always wondering how to do it, but I am scared to do it incase I make a mistake somewhere. I know the system will need bleeding too and this also requires one to hook up a reader to the system to activate a maintenance parameter to enable this. SO yeah. If you know someone who can, that would really be appreciated.

    Wenn du bei der Ölpumpe das Zahnrad vom E36 M3 verwendest,hast du im Leerlauf einen höheren Öldruck,das Zahnrad hat 1 Zahn weniger als das Zahnrad vom E46 M3.Dadurch das das Zahnrad 1 Zahn weniger hat und im Durchmesser kleiner ist schlägt die Kette nicht mehr gegen die Ölpumpe.Mit der Schlauchschelle wäre mir zu gefährlich,wenn die sich löst durch die Schläge der Kette dann landet diese im Motor. Den Regelkolben in der Pumpe kann man auch durch einen besseren ersetzen für stabileren Öldruck. Tellerscheiben vom S62 M5 verwenden,diese sind etwas stärker,Vanos mit Beisan ORingen überarbeiten.Ölpumpenrad der Vanos auf 9,64mm neu bohren,sitzt besser und hat nicht so viel Spiel. Tolle Arbeit!👍🏻👏🏻🍀

    Can you show how you got yours on all 4 jack stands? I can't find a front center jacking point on my M340i. Can it get jacked up in the front by the subframe? Even then I can't see much with the shield on.

      I can’t speak on X-drive. But if you are RWD there is a half circle with two screws inside of it just forward of the oil pan access. This marks your front center jack point. As determined by BMW tech manual. I’ve lifted from here 6 times now with zero issues.

      @@AGBoost I actually saw that on bimmerpost. I'm gonna try it when the time comes around for doing the donwpipe. For now it's just oil changes on rhino ramps.

      @@AGBoost Just did lifted my car this way to do an oil change. Drove over some 2x4s to get some height first. The center jack area looks slightly different between the rwd and xdrive.

      @@BenDover-io9vg I actually made makeshift ramps out of 4 2x8s and angled the edges to make the easier to drive up. I do the same. Drive up the ramps, jack the center point, and place jackstands with adapters.

    And then there’s me who in the process of taking the front main seal out, accidentally knocked the allen key I was using to hold the oil pump chain tensioner back, it shot the piston out which broke the guide rail 😅 had to drop the subframe and pan to replace it all.. fun times! Don’t be like me, use the proper oil pump tensioner hold back..

    THANKS DOUG, MY CAR SUFFERED SOMETHING VERY STRANGE, 8 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING MY HOUSE IN THE MORNING, AT THE MOMENT IT BEGAN TO FAIL WITHOUT FORCE, IT MADE BLUE SMOKE ON TWO OCCASIONS AND SHOOT A COUNTER EXPLOSION NOT VERY STRONG, THEN LOOK FOR A SAFE PLACE, PARK AND TURN OFF I LEAVE THE ENGINE FOR AN HOUR THEN I TRY TO TURN IT ON BUT NOTHING, LIKE IT RUN OUT OF BATTERY. I TAKEN IT IN A CRANE AND AT HOME IT SMELLED A LOT OF GASOLINE AND WHEN I REMOVED THE OIL DIPSTICK I NOTICED THAT IT SMELLED A LOT OF GASOLINE AND THE OIL WAS WELL LIQUID DRIPTING AS IF IT WAS WATER. WHEN PUTTING A SCANNER ON IT, IT GIVES SOME CODES OF THE WATER SENSORS, CAMSHAFT POSITION INTAKE AND OUTAKE THEN TODAY THEY GIVE ME THE ORDER FOR THE CAMSHAFT SENSORS, THE WATER SENSOR AND THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR FOR TOMORROW SATURDAY TO CHANGE THEM ALL, I WILL ALSO REMOVE THEM SPARK PLUG, (WHICH ARE NEW TOGETHER WITH THE COILS), SO THAT THE AIR ENTERS AND EVAPORATES THE GASOLINE. I WILL ALSO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER, LEAVING THE CAP FOR A LITTLE TIME WITHOUT PUTTING IT SO THAT THE GASOLINE DRAINS WELL. FINALLY I WILL CHARGE THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE SCANNER SHOWS THAT IT HAS ONLY 10 VOLTS TO THEN TRY TO START THE ENGINE. ALL THIS BEFORE TAKE IT TO A WORKSHOP. ONE OF MY MECHANICS TOLD ME THAT IF THE COOLANT SENSOR BREAKS, (THE ONE THAT IS IN THE RETURN PIPE THAT YOU GUIDED ME) THE COMPUTER GOES CRAZY AND PULLS GASOLINE AND DOES THAT KIND OF THING THAT HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED A WEEK AGO AND I HOPE AFTER THE PROCEDURE THAT I TELL YOU WHAT I WILL DO I HOPE IT WORKS. I KNOW IT IS A LONG STORY THAT I JUST TOLD YOU BUT MY CAR IS UNIQUE, THERE ARE NOT MANY LIKE THIS BECAUSE IT IS LAGUNA SECA BLUE AND CONVERTIBLE WITH HARD TOP.       There’s a water pipe under the throttle bodies, it’s on the pipe, pretty much behind the oil filter area
