Great advice, Tank You.
So you didn't replace the timing chain on the Toyota in almost 700k km?
My 2020 Forester keeps my stuff on until I open the door.
You are so right about Mazda! Just change my plug in hybrid car to mazda 6 2019 , and i'm so happy!
Good choice! You’ll love it.
I was having the same issue with sometimes not connecting to CarPlay. I switched cords and haven’t had a problem since.
I’ve discovered when my phone charge port is dirty it won’t connect to airplay even though the phone shows it’s charging.
My 2003 Mazda 6 we sold with 420 000 kilometers/260 000 miles.Broke down once with a fuel pump failure at 300 000.Found out it was meant to be replaced every 100 000.$450.Nice.
Oops. Could have been worse, though. Every time I’ve bought a car with over 150,000 miles on it something major goes out within a few months of buying it. Most people just don’t maintain their cars well.
Good video. You mentioned most of your driving is highway. When driving low speed, do you notice the tranny is a little jerky and bucks about? Every Skyactiv auto seems to have this trait.
loved your detailed video! I have a 2016 mazda 3 sport. Around 160,000 mileage! last night while driving it stalled on me when i was driving and the steering wheel got a bit stiff lucky i reacted fast but then various lights turned on the dashboard. Was with the family so it was scary to drive home, the thing is when i drove it back home everything seemed to be fine. Took it to Autozone and P0882 TCM Power input signal low appeared on their end...I live in South Texas and in my town no mechanic wants to touch because it's not domestic. I'm trying to avoid going to the dealership, any input? I know it's a long shot.
That’s too bad nobody will look at it. They could at least narrow down the problem for you. Any mechanic should be able to do that even if they don’t want to work on it. There are very few things my mechanics in Utah send me to the dealership for. Your symptoms sound exactly like a broken serpentine belt but you would have seen that when you opened the hood. If you know enough about cars you can check the battery, alternator, and starter to see if they need to be replaced. Sorry! I wish I could help more. I wish I knew a good mechanic down there.
I understand completely. I had a 79 Chevy Impala that I wished had paddle shifters because shifting manually on the column broke my transmission and the man who fixed it knew how I was driving so he modified the transmission and upgraded the torque converter. After that, manually shifting was a breeze.
Yup. It makes a huge difference when you want to tell the car what gear to be in and not the other way around. You know exactly what I’m talking about in this video. 👍🏼
We are thinking of buying the CX30 because it's the only vehicle that will fit in our garage. We'd prefer to keep our new investment out of inclement weather. But these newer vehicles seem to be so much more complicated and we don't want to get one that's older than five years. Originally I was researching the CX5. That turned into the CX50. But when I figured it wouldn't fit in the garage, that brought me to the CX30. Then you mentioned its lack of power. So, now I just don't know..
If you get the turbo it’s got tons of power! It accelerates way faster than my Mazda6. It really is fun to drive. Just the non turbo one is boring.
You can buy a quick release tab for the bumper cover
I did not know that! I will definitely look into that. Thank you!
Had a Mazda cX-9. Waiting to get the CX-90 but just couldn't justify the price. Drove kia and Hyundai not impressed. Got the ascent as it is the most utilitarian and good AWD is a must for me
Yup. I came to the same conclusions. Great minds think alike…so you must be brilliant.
The Napa leather in mine has never gotten hot when parked outside (maybe about 100 days out of the year). Granted the weather doesn’t get scorching here but on 95+ degree days with the moon roof open they haven’t gotten hot. The car has a couple cons for me but I love everything else about it. 2022 just under 40k miles
Love it! Leather is the way to go.
I can use my touchscreen while driving. Also why would someone want to leave their key in the car then get out to go to anywhere, thats called inviting a carjacking. I keep my key in my bag and it never has to leave it. I walk up to the car and lock unlock and drive and access the back all without ever seeing my key. Just put it in ur pocket. That way if someone tries to take ur car theres no key in it and they womt get far as will go out of range. The car has an extra usb socket there are two, which is more than some mercs and other top range cars.
I park my car in the garage and I leave my key in the car because too many times I’ve gotten in my car to leave for work and realized my key was still in the house. I also have had many, many times where I’m driving to pick up my kids and realized I needed something out of the trunk. Got out to open the trunk and it wouldn’t open. Go to a car wash…get out to get a towel out of the trunk to dry the car…can’t open the trunk. There are a lot of scenarios where I’m driving somewhere with no need to lock my car because I’m not planning on leaving it. The only time I leave my key in my car unattended is in my garage.
Great video! I'm enjoying my 2023 Limited 8 seater.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.
Is there a way we can turn off the seat belt beeping?
I didn’t notice it as a problem in the one I drove so I didn’t address that issue. I’ve read online that there is no way to disable it but a few people said if you open and close the door it stops. Others said that didn’t work for them. 🤷♂️ Worth a try, anyway.
I have 2017 Mazda 6 GT same as yours and even other regular automatic transmission non CVT's doesn't feel as good as Mazda's. Thanks for the video :)
That’s my experience, too. You’re welcome!
Interesting video as always, totally agree about the comfort and ride quality.. I drove a few days ago in a Kia Picanto with a single clutch gear with maybe 80 horse power I had to drive about 200 miles and it was terrible. Just one more thing - the sound was not the best, in the previous videos the sound was excellent. Thank you and 👍
Thank you for the feedback. I used my AirPods as a microphone since I knew the quality wouldn’t be good using the GoPro microphone at 80 mph. I see I’ll need a better microphone in the future. The GoPro is good at lower speeds but not on the freeway. Thanks again! I appreciate it.
BATMAN nanananananana BATMAN 😂
My favorite accessory. 😄
About the window reopening after hitting the top. Apparently that is a function Subaru built into the car. To have it act normal again, hold the window "up" control for about 10 seconds. That works for my 2020 Forester. To have it revert back to the window opening again, hold the window "down" for about 10 seconds. (Weird) I think that is so you can have the window stay open when you need the keys inside while working on the car so you don't lock yourself out. BTW, I have 128,600 miles on mine and other than normal maintenance, (including a transmission fluid change), I've only had a right rear wheel bearing go bad at around 116,000 miles.
The same exact bearing is starting to go on my 2021 Forester with 108k miles.
Thanks! That’s a good tip.
Congarts good for camping off road
Never tried it but I’m sure it is!
Most new 2024 cars will be lucky to hit 100k miles and they are like twice the amount of your Mazda there. Great record on that one . There's a 2017 Mazda 6 sport for like $11k with 124k miles on it, which is my kind of price and mileage for a well kept proven to be reliable car. Last year, I bought a 2015 Lexus GS 350 with 187k miles for $13k, and it still drives and looks like a new car. Thanks for the review. DO NOT service your transmission if you put over 60k when brand new. It's too late now, especially for you. It will most likely ruin it. Trust me.
Ya. I’m holding on to this one as long as I can.
I want to ask about the noise level of the car? I measured 81 decibels close to the dashboard at a speed of 130 km/h, but 85 decibels at the window, which is very loud and disturbing. have you experienced this in the car?
I haven’t noticed anything unusual. I can have conversations at a normal voice volume going 85 mph (136 km/h).
We have a 2021... very nice car. :-)
👍🏼
Hey, thanks a lot for the video! I have the same car. Did you have an overheated engine because the cooling system water went out?
I didn’t. No problems with anything like that. Sounds like you did. Sorry to hear that.
Love my 2020 turbo mazda 6 but the mpg is really high 21 mpg
That’s surprisingly low. Those are supposed to be 23 city 31 freeway. Average 27. Maybe you’ve got a lead foot like me. 😄
Thanks for the tips
You’re welcome!
I’m thinking of buying 2017 Mazda 6 sport this week with 118,000 miles for $11300, debating on buying it because of the mileage, I can probably talk them down a little, but do you think it’s worth it, with the mileage and price?
It looks like it’s a fair price. The ones I see for sale are mostly in that range. I’m sure you can get it for a little less but that’s close to the going rate in my area.
@@TheEpling if I check it out I’ll definitely see if they can go down, thanks though for replying
@@TheEplingwhat do you think about $15K for a 2017 mazda6 with 80k miles
@@hiiifidelityThat’s also a fair price but it depends on clean title, condition, and trim level. You could definitely ask for a lower price. I’ve found a couple Grand Tourings in great condition with clean titles with under 70,000 miles for under $14,000.
@@TheEpling its a clean title but they want 2300 down. i was expecting to only put $1500 down
It looks like made in US
It is. Made in Indiana.
I plan on getting rid of my first car soon (🥲) and purchasing a 2017 Mazda 6. My first car is a Honda accord so reliability is a big factor for me, and this video just solidified my decision. 🫡
Awesome! I’m about to put out a 400,000 mile video with what has gone out and what it has cost me. I’m at 399,100 now. Still going strong. Still love it. I hope you have the same experience.
I have a 2015 Mazda 6 touring with 207,000 miles and there’s mods I wanna do to it but was worried how long it would last but this makes me feel better
I’ll be at 400,000 miles in about a week. Still going strong. You should have plenty of life left to justify mods.
Thanks for your thoughts.
You’re welcome.
2,0 or 2,5 ?
2.5
What engine you've got on it, diesel? Petrol??
This is Petrol. 2.5
how many miles were on it when you had to replace the fuel pumps? I have a 2014 with 153k on it. thanks
I replaced them at 338,824. But it had been needing them for at least a year. So probably about 280,000 miles. It would only be noticeable in extreme heat. Over 100 degrees. It only happened in the Summer in St. George, Utah. And it only happened when I was parked with the AC running for a while. 20 minutes or more. If I was parked for too long the engine would run really rough and struggle to keep running for a few seconds and then die. When I went to start it again it would turn over but never start. I’d have to let it sit for 30 minutes to cool it down. I’d turn the AC off then it would start rough but it would start. Once I got the car moving it would cool down and be fine. No other symptoms that I noticed and it never happened anywhere but St. George and it was usually 105-115 degrees outside.
Is that a meeting house on the background?
That it is!
Impressive! At which mileage your both fuel pump had to be replaced? Both at the same time? What was the main symptoms? Thanks and continu to keep that baby alive!

@@TheEplingthanks for the follow up
If you're not opposed to a little diy, upgrading the media hub to the newer part that supports apple carplay and android auto also includes a higher power USB interface, helps charge noticeably faster. Simultaneously, updating the infotainment software to work with the new media hub, really helps with the instability of bluetooth connections, and the occasional black screen. On all of the Mazdas equipped with radar cruise control, if the radar sensor is blocked or somehow malfunctioning, you can turn off the radar aspect in the settings and temporarily use it as regular cruise control. After the 2018 refresh, it became automatic but, still would be nice if it could melt off the ice.
I’ve had several people suggest that now. I’m definitely going to upgrade my system. I’ve been missing out all these years. I have figured out how to disable MRCC since making this video. It’s really nice to be able to turn it off when I want it off.
I had a '16 iSport, it got totaled by a Silverado at 112k. Finally got myself a '18 Grand Touring Reserve, and it's amazing!
Yikes. Sorry about the 16. That’s a sad loss. But I think you’ll be happier with the GT.
Excellent review!
Thank you, Sir!
Thanks brother 🙏 my car is SO stiff. I’m hoping that my tires are over inflated from the dealer, gonna check tomorrow. Denver also has some of the worst roads in the country
I’ve heard that about Denver. Did you go to the dealer? Any better?
This video and others your made sold me. I am looking into buying a used 2016 Mazda 6 grand touring with 62K miles driven. Any recommendation on what should I be looking for when inspecting the vehicle? What maintenance questions to ask to the current owner?
Awesome! I’m glad these were helpful. You’ll love the Grand Touring. Definitely ask about regular oil changes. Ask who drove the car before. Was it driven by teenagers or someone who really loved it and took care of it? Any after market additions made to it? If the car runs and shifts smooth you should be good. Listen for any bumping or rattling coming from the front suspension when going over bumps. I didn’t have any problem with that until about 300,000 miles but it’s worth checking. That just gets expensive as the parts start to go out.
1:03 I just had to take a minute to digest what you said about who this car would suit best. I can't even begin to imagine a highschool or college student in my country having a car at all, let alone one like this. They few that do come from families whose parents own high end luxury cars like BMW, Merecedes or Range Rovers. I know you guys don't think about it that much but be very happy that you have that first world privilege. Other than that, I really liked this review. It's an awesome car 👌🏽
Thank you for your comment and your perspective. It’s very true. It is a great privilege to live in America. I see high school kids driving brand new cars that I can’t afford. I also see kids who have to struggle to come up with the money for an old beat up pick up truck. I am conscious of how great it is to live in America and how the vast majority of people have to struggle every day just to feed their families. I have two brothers who lived in Colombia and Mexico for 2 years and a daughter who lived in Ghana for 18 months. That’s why I mention my whining first world problems regularly in my videos. Thank you for watching. I’m glad you liked it.
Wireless charging is a gimmick regardless of the vehicle you're in. It can't offer the same speed as normal charging.
Good to know. I don’t have any experience with it outside of this car.
You remind me of my ex wife bitching and complaining about every little thing ....m having flash backs to being married too that old nag
I am a car enthusiast and it would just thrill me to drive a newer car every three or four years. I drive a '16 Mazda6 Touring with 185,000 miles that I bought used with a little more than 30K miles in 2018 for around $17K out of the door. After driving a 4 cyl. '96 Camry, an '06 Accord V6 Hybrid and my wife's '15 4 cyl. Accord, the Mazda is the one I still want to keep driving. Yes, the '06 Accord v6 was so smooth and powerful with 255hp-I miss that, but that was not as much fun as the Mazda6 to toss around. I hope Mazda keeps manufacturing the 6.
This has been my experience, too!
Take the rear headrests off to lower back seats easier
Thanks!
I would only get the cx-30 if it had a turbo too. I used a cx-30 as a rental and the base 187hp isn't as adequate as it is in my 2020 mazda3 hatch. It must be due to weight? I don't think id get any Mazda crossover or suv without the higher power. But as I mentioned, that 187hp works well with the 3 hatch.
From my experience I agree.
Anyone experience some vibration from the engine when under load? For instance, going uphill, I would hear it.
I never have. Sorry.
It could be that your motor mounts are wearing out, causing the engine to shake especially when working hard.
Yes, it's noticeable if you're really revving it
Do you have to do this each time you start the car? Or will that permanently disable it on your car?
You do have to do it each time.
