Believe it or not, make sure the cap is screwed on tight as well as the gun part itself

No, that gun is only good for primer. For a quality finish I use a Titan Maxim 2

@@MrWatchOutNow thanks! I just tried again tonight and this gun sucks lol. I was an auto body painter for 27 years and even though this hvlp turbine stuff is a little bit of a different animal …. I know my way around a spray gun and I just can’t get this p.o.s. gun to spray worth a damn. I’ll look into the Titan gun, the turbine seems good but that gun……. No bueno Thanks again

@@Mr1fingersalute facts lol. The best that you will get out of that gun is if you keep the fan piece pretty far past the nozzle itself and then you’ll get a decent atomizing of the paint

I’ve gotten it a little better turning the air cap ring out but it’s not great, I’m still tempted to use it as a hammer 😂 Have you ever used the Aerojet gun? Seems like it may be decent going off of reviews🤷🏻‍♂️ What tip size do you use , and do you thin the Emerald? I was trying this gun with the 1.8 and thinned 10%

@@Mr1fingersalute on the Titan Maxim 2 guns I use the #3 tip (I believe that is the 1.8mm) and I don’t use emerald, I use Sherwood from sherwin Williams

Still runs and still gets it done. I keep it as a backup these days because it’s so reliable

It wouldn’t take long that’s for sure, but the prep work to make sure you don’t spray your house might not be worth the time

That’s the siphon, if that fell off then it’s for sure broken 🫤

100% true, that and I like painting over the tape with the original color first then the new color

I have both and the fine finish gun that comes with this one is better suited for the applications I use it for. The Wagner I have is only used as a backup machine because I never use the guns provided. I just modified the air hose to connect to my Titan hvlp guns.

I got to the point about 3 years ago 🤷‍♂️ 🤣

If it’s a fresh batch no, just stir it well. If it’s a bit clumpy just add like an ounce of water, nothing crazy or it will just come flying out.

@@MrWatchOutNow thank you for your reply also what would you use to thin down the 2 part epoxy primer with the small tip gun and would you thin down the clear coat?

This machine is strong enough to not need a thinner, but if you do then use xylene. For the clear it depends on the base(oil, water, poly)

@jonathancolby9179 I’ve been using it for a year straight and I haven’t had any issues. I’m just not a fan of the gun it comes with. My 3 stage is as strong as a Titan 5 stage.

Get the 3 or 5 stage turbine instead. Then you can purchase any spray gun to use with it.

Yes, use the fine fish tip (the smaller one)

Not exactly, it’s a turbine for continuous pressure. But practice with it a bit before you start your project to make sure you’ve figured out the right consistency you need (when you thin the paint)

I just bought one for automotive, I hope it works out? I just made a conversion kit for 25 dollars to make it gravity fed! I have not even used the siphon yet, lol! I picked up a Niagara 100ft 3/4 hose for it today? I made mine hook up to the spectrum PPS system also, pretty dope really! Im going to buy a H/0 cup 3M soon, I spent enough for now, the j tube by itself is 60$ and I don't think it even works on the Avanti, I got 3/8 brake line and compression fittings with adapters for gun side and PPS adapter, a trip to Lowe's saved me some money with some poor boy ingenuity!😂

3 coats of clear and yes I sand the spec first. Sometimes if there is too much lint floating in the air, I’ll come back the next day to wet sand the clear for another coat.

Well that sucks. Truthfully I rub the tape on the wall with a dry rag to make sure it’s on right, but yes some will come through regardless.

exactly ive used frog tape and i got the same seepage

No just rub a lil caulking inbetween the tape seemed and the wall let it dry and paint over it then peel it off and I’ll bet both will look the same

You're supposed to wet the frog tape with a damp sponge first. That activates the sealant that prevents the paint from getting underneath it

I didn’t do the walls and I do have an old video but I can make an updated one if you’d like telling you what I’m using and what is a similar product at Home Depot or Lowe’s (because I use industrial chemicals)

The closest thing you’ll get at Sherwin Williams would be their Sherwood Laquear. The pre catalyzed or 2 part. Use shellac as a primer for it to dry quick.

Yes I have, the gun that comes with the machine is great. But when it comes to a buttery finish it’s not the gun you want to use. The Avanti gun pushes more air into the cup to force the fluid out, but not enough air out of the fan piece to atomize and get a really good fine finish compared to the Titan

Nope you can not. You should be fine though, practice on another sure (obviously) with the fan/pressure setting all the way up and dial in you chemical just right. If you do smooth fairly quick passes you’ll be fine
