DECKED Storage System Install Tips
In this video Jarod gives some helpful information and tips about the recent install of the DECKED Storage System we did on Scout our 2006 Double Cab First Gen Toyota Tundra. Since DECKED doesn’t actually make a storage system specifically for the 2000-2006 Tundra, we’ve received a lot of interest on which particular system we used and how we made it fit. If you have any questions that aren’t answered in the video feel free to ask in the comments or send us a message. Altering the DECKED system like we do in this video will most likely VOID the manufacturers WARRANTY. Please be safe. Wear eye protection and gloves if you attempt this install.

    Thanks for this! I just picked up a used ford model for my 06 DC tundra and these tips will be helpful. Question: did you contour to the corrugations in the very front of the bed (next to cab)? Or just sides and corners? Thanks! (Edit) Ok duh! I watched to the very end and see you did not need to scribe to the front of bed.

  • @hill160881

    So what axles? What gears? The stock front end can not handle that load. How about steering? No hydraulic assist? The only stock pick up truck that can swing 40 inch tires and not need an axle replacement is the F450/550 with its 10 lug commercial axles and steering knuckles/ball joints. Also, the F450/550 has a much larger steering box that can actually turn tires that size unlike the F250 and 350. Also the 4 door is to long to be any use on a trail lol. This is all why I went with a 22 f450 regular cab dully. (4” longer wheelbase than a gladiator)I see a really well built truck with lots of expensive “stuff” all over it missing the really important things. The thing it needs to do what it was designed for without breaking. This will brake the front axle the first hard trail it finds.

    • @legacyoutdoorsfamilyadvent9127
      @legacyoutdoorsfamilyadvent9127 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t have an OEM bedliner in mine. If you don’t take the bedliner out you you will likely have to trim off so much that you end up cutting into the ammo boxes.

Putting that cover back on would drive anyone nuts. Ridiculous. He cares more about lumens output then practicality. Also cut a hole through the subframe - genius ( aka Darwin nominee).

    Are the decked systems even practical ? Seems like an awful lot of sacrificed space for a few drawers

    • @legacyoutdoorsfamilyadvent9127
      @legacyoutdoorsfamilyadvent9127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To us and for our application it’s definitely practical. We actually gain some space with system. Since it has a full length and width flat space over the storage area we retain all the same surface space of the bed but gain storage that is secure for gear that would be otherwise spread all over the back of the bed open to weather and prying eyes. The drawers hold a lot more than you would think. Out of all the mods we’ve done on the Tundra this is one of the most useful mods.

      Thanks for the question and for watching our video. I’m not familiar with the dimension differences of the 2000 to the 2006, but as long as yours is not any narrower than the 2006 DC bed you should be fine. There wasn’t any room left for trimming on the sides without getting into the ammo cans on the one we did. Also, the decked system is only 1-2” shy of the tailgate on this model as well. We hope that helps.
