If this is true then Scorsese is more of a self-important asshole than I thought.
It is true Scorsese confirmed it.
the second he said he had a loaded gun i knew this was bullshit. harvey treated him worse on gangs of new york. if there was ever an instance for him to pull a gun it wouldve been then.
It’s not B.S Scorsese confirmed this is a true story.
I hate how loud he swallows and then smacks his lips afterward
Art
Right… Well If it is true. How idiotic would it have been to literally end up in prison for the rest of your days over people you’ve killed, when you could just turn the saturation down on a movie to achieve the same end ?… Not the smartest man in the world this Scorsese is he ?
Well he didn’t know that would have got past the censors, he thought he would have to butcher his film for the censors but getting a gun out to kill someone is going to the extreme you can tell Scorsese’s mental state wasn’t all there when he made the film, that scene with him and DeNiro in the car kinds of sums up his mental state at the time.
First of all, you should verify the story before telling it. And then not tell it. This is not a story Martin would want to be out there.
Quentin Tarantino is one annoying SOB with his saliva swallowing
I heard they took out the saturation so the blood would look like the crime scene photos they would put in the paper
Ive actually heard Scorsese tell this story. He said that he changed the color to avoid the X rating. He wants to release with the original bright red coloring which he says looks beautiful but they cant find the film. Its lost. They did it to appease the studio.
I wonder if we are going to see something similar to this in The Movie Critic
This story is idiotic if we're to believe a man as intelligent as Scorsese was ready to throw his entire career in the toilet, go to prison, and rot.... because he was told to tone it down. Stop! That just a total exaggeration and absurd dramatization of what was just a minor problem he had to deal with. If Scorsese ever said this, or hinted at something similarly dramatic, it was just a dramatic way of saying, I became so engrossed in the making of this movie that I became the character I was portraying on screen. It was just Scorsese's way of saying he can relate to Travis. If anyone thought for a second that Scorsese was LITERALLY contemplating murder... Only a fool could think that.
Scorsese confirmed it was a true story.
spoiler: he dulled the blood at the end
tarantino comes off kinda west hollywood here if ya get my drift
Is this from TH-cam?
that guy talks like he is a chracter in a Tarantino movie
Why is this glorified in hollywood? If a regular joe did this in a regular job they'd be arrested
He could’ve been in The Irishman
If Tarantino is a savage his last film will be a porn movie with A-List actors

You must think I’m sick. You think I’m sick? Am I sick? You probably think I’m sick.
QT IS the WTO of Cinema. Bless that dude.
There should be a series where Tarantino tells us about all the legendary tales he has absorbed over the years.
He made it a book instead 😂
@@lynchmaleidealName ?
@@hafizamin-fx8of”cinema speculation” the newly released book possibly
The kind of story that if it were true in the age of the internet and it happened today, Scorsese would never work again.
Set Shooters: From Martin Scorcese to Alec Baldwin
I love the title of the video. Its so “How does uploading videos on youtube work”
All of this is true. Scorsese and Speilberg confirmed the story themselves during a DGA conversation on Bridge of Spies (the video is on TH-cam). Spielberg was the one who helped him to think about the blood color.
Tarantino should tell all stories
Sounds like a false story
It’s true Spielberg and Scorsese confirmed it during the DGA bridge of spies conversation on TH-cam.
Scorsese's cameo proves that story is true.
Just here to be the 1,000th comment. 👍
It is said that Tarantino did quite a similar approach to his film Kill Bill, Vol.1. When movie execs screened his film and told him to edit out more than half of the Crazy 88 fight scene with Beatrix, or face not so favorable movie classification for the whole film because of the gore and too much bloodshed, Tarantino decided to modify a large portion of the fight scene from full color to black and white to dull the senses and hopefully tone down extreme violence. In that same scene, Tarantino inserted a part where a female character shut off the lights during intense fighting that only the silhouettes of his characters can be seen to achieve less emotional intensity among viewers. In the end, Tarantino was able to have the whole Crazy 88 fight scene pass the movie execs approval and seemed to have quite favorable movie classification.
For those interested the uncut version is on Japanese DVD, it really is better than the theatrical cut
I like Tarantino but this story is a complete bullshit.
It’s not Scorsese and Spielberg confirmed it during the bridge of spies DGA conversation.
“He did that in Lou of killing a man”
The whole Mia overdose scene in Pulp Fiction is a real story based on the real life experience of Steven Prince, the guy who played the gun dealer for Travis in Taxi Driver. The actor had to bring a girl back who had overdosed in the exact same way.
Yes, you're referring to the Scorsese documentary about Steven Prince, "American Boy", where he famously recounts that story. Scorsese and the film critic Roger Ebert did a round-up of their favourite films of the 90s, and Ebert nominated Pulp Fiction as one of the candidates - Scorsese had very little to say about this film, where he would usually offer some comments of his own. I can only infer Scorsese knew about Tarantino copying that part of his documentary wholesale, and he wasn't too pleased about it.
Great documentary. Don't think I saw that Scorsese and Ebert thing. Will have to look for it. It would make sense that would be Martin's reaction though. I did notice when The Departed came out about a couple years after Kill Bill did... the song, "Nobody But Me" by The Human Beinz was used in The Departed after Tarantino used it in Kill Bill. Deep down I thought to myself, "Is this Martin telling Tarantino that he can play the same games too?"
He must have had a few glasses of cola or red bulls to stay up all night drinking or something
“He did that in lieu of killing a man” Great sentence
What a boring story
Scorsese nearly murdering someone after directing one of the greatest films of all time is the opposite of a boring story.
Sounds like total bs to me ?
The more I watch taxi driver the more I understand why tarantino thinks its the best scorsese movie. There is some really deep seeded situations in that film and character portrayal emotions are deep also, a real modern classic.
I think Raging Bull is Marty’s best work.
Quentin Tarantino is a wonderful director and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t give two sh!ts what I think or feel, so I think is ok for me to express my thoughts, this story sounds like complete bull sh!t.. yeah sure he had a gun, yeah sure he was gonna kill a dude.. Tarantino loves to exaggerate..
I really don't know why people carry on about some movies, when in reality they're just crap, with a few famous names to give it some legs, let's be truthful and call a spade a spade.
welllll marty was still in character with his movie and was also a bit of a cokehead so ...
I have heard the story about changing the color of the blood but it was because he wanted the blood to look more realistic then the bright red fake Hollywood blood.
no one thought to call the columbia guy and warn him not to come to work for a week or two? wtf sounds like a stupid wifes tale.
Never liked Tarantino films as he just plagiarises and believes himself to be in the same league as true masters. He is not and his films are all stollen ideas. I never understood why he is worshipped so much for copying other people’s ideas.
I agree but his early work is great Pulp fiction for example does not rip off anything it’s totally original in story and structure.
I think QT is talking about himself and an exec. 😉
When you immerse yourself in a world you create from a picture to a video game for a huge period and pour your heart and soul in. It’s easy to see how characteristics of the world can paint or taint your outlook . Those things were probably inside in the first place
Give Tarantino inside the directors studio, he knows so much about film history
It doesn't matter if it's true. It's a helluva story anyway
Never not pretentious
In the alternative universe....... Scorcese was a lovable legend for killing executives
