Thanks. We launch straight our the main car park. There's a ramp straight onto the beach with a chest high barrier to duck under though. Hand launching my SiB with it's transom wheels on their lowest setting, I've got all of 2 inches between the engine and the barrier! As for the Rabala's..? Doubt I'd get anything else at the moment... Stick with what's working they say!

I'm using the Standard Horizon DSC hand held VHF. I feel a bit safer with this because if you're not sure where you are, and you're in distress, the radio shows you on the screen your coordinates, and it also sends the coordinates when sending a DSC distress call...

Welcome aboard! If you're just starting out, I'd wouldn't look past anything in the Garmin range - (budget depending). I've got their 5CV with the slightly bigger screen than the striker 4 that I started out with when I kayak fished. This has been a bonus, as with my older eyes now, I can still see everything on the screen when moving about / sitting further away from the fish finder on the SiB. Me and a mate did a side by side compare with mine and his Lowrance too, and found the Garmin also had a more clearer screen / better font size, and was also way more user friendly / easier to navigate. Hope this help. Anymore questions, just ask away, and I'll try and help if I can...

It used to be on a swing arm. But I've since took that off and mounted it directly on a Railblaza mount on the front seat. The fish finder was bouncing around too much for my liking, and it was starting to get in the way when landing fish.

We know as much as you regarding the SiB boat club the Beadnell Boat Launch are thinking about TBH... I've been back since, and they're still playing with the idea. I'm guessing it won't be up and running until next year as they said they they're still working out numbers / costs etc.

Not bad actually. One of the beaches we use, (Newbiggin), The sand can be like sugar! So with the trolley wheels being a bit wide, they ride over rather than cut into the sand...

I'd agree there... Think Harley shows it better with his footage with what we dealt with. Certainly tested the Hydrus this time though, as I think I wouldn't have dreamed of going with my other SiB and smaller engine!

@@chrisdavison2022 what is it you've upgraded to? 3.7m 15hp?

Upgraded to a better (same size) SiB... The Tobins are cracking for the money. Yes they can take a 15hp, but they don't 'like' a 15hp. Mine suffered cavitation anywhere above 1/3rd throttle when on my own... So maybe they only take a 15hp for when you have more people in it... This Hydrus, because of the higher pressure floor I think, is fine with the 15hp solo and flat out! : )

I was using a Sidewinder lure there this time. Found it a bit light though with the tide ripping through the islands...
