so helpful. thank you!
So glad it helped you & hope you get some nice knitting time over Xmas to try it out ☺️
Thank you
@@SharonDanleyAdvocacy you’re very welcome Sharon & happy knitting ☺️
So helpful! Thank you :)
You’re very welcome Judi 😊
Great tutorial. Now I understand how to do it. Thank you
Fantastic Maura - I'm so glad it helped you. Hope you have fun knitting round & round :)
Free pattern at www.craftfix.com/tag/christmas for both straight and circular needles. Happy Christmas! 🎄
Why do you say to knit “as usual” if this is a beginner tutorial and I have never knit before 😭😭
Sorry for any confusion. Knitting in the round is something you move on to when you already know how to do the basic knit stitch etc. So it’s a beginners tutorial for the knit in the round technique rather than for someone who has never knit a stitch at all. I don’t have tutorials for learning to knit from scratch yet but there are tons on TH-cam. Search for how to do the knit stitch, how to cast on in knitting for complete beginners etc
@@craftfixblog oh okay thanks, sorry about that. I was able to slow down the video and understand what you were doing. I am new to knitting and have circular needles so that is why I started here.
@ it’s cool you are starting with a circular needle. While most “learn to knit” first steps videos will show traditional straight needles, you can follow any of those. Because you can use a circular needle for ALL knitting, not just to knit in the round. I’ve a video showing how to use a circular to knit back and forth in rows instead of traditional straight needles here th-cam.com/video/4HNwU0CX1Vs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=akXkcU3sTtp31yw8 Now it’s not a learn to knit video either, but it might be useful to you just to see how you can substitute the straight needles you see in total beginner knitting videos with your circular needle. just think of your circular as mittens on a string! So you basically still have a pair of traditional knitting needles, it’s just they’re joined by a cord. Hope this helps & welcome to the world of knitting ❤️
@@craftfixblog thank you that is extremely helpful! I will check it out the video asap. I appreciate your explanation 💗
Beeaaauuutiful🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much I wear it nearly every day at this time of year ☺️
@craftfixblog I bet you look gorgeous in it. 😊👑
Free pattern: www.craftfix.com/tag/christmas + fluffy cuff tutorial video: th-cam.com/video/ACJAbO3evmc/w-d-xo.html
This was so clear. Thank you so much for making this video!
You’re very welcome & happy knitting☺️
I came across this solution on my own and googled it hoping there was a different method that was less annoying… I was disappointed with the results 😂
If you're knitting small stuff there is another way - magic loop knitting! I've a tutorial here th-cam.com/video/qtQNN6IDfhA/w-d-xo.html But if you're knitting something larger, it's much more enjoyable if you have the right length needle.
Thank you so much for your video! I found it extremely helpful. I’ve watched what feels like hundreds of other tutorials and just couldn’t wrap my head around how to do this stitch, but your video was very clear and easy to follow! ❤
You’re very welcome & delighted my video helped you. Happy knitting! ☺️
This is the absolute BEST explanation of all that I've seen on you tube! Thank you so much for this video. It's made it much simpler for me to understand how to do this without stressing about it as much as I have by watching other videos on it. Holding the two needles together as you knit is a GAME CHANGER for me! I've been struggling with how to hold them as I knit. This is the solution!
I’m so glad my video helped and thanks for such lovely feedback. You’ve made my week! ☺️
Thank you!!! I waited a week for 40 inch needles to arrive only to realize it's an EU pattern and I needed 40 CM
Yikes! Glad this helped but it could get a bit tedious doing this for the whole pattern. An alternative would be to knit it with magic loop (where you use a long circular to knit small things). I’ve a 10 min tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/qtQNN6IDfhA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_iXLU8P6Y-oB5Jcu hope this helps

This is excellent. One question: when is it necessary to pull a "magic loop"? Is that technique designed for fewer stitches on a longer cable?
Hi Judy I think you’ve already watched my magic loop tutorial since? th-cam.com/video/qtQNN6IDfhA/w-d-xo.html You’re exactly right that’s for knitting small things (sleeves, socks, gloves, small hats etc) with a long circular. You can also use a really short circular instead, but they’re more unusual & expensive.
@@craftfixbloghello! Yes, I did find your excellent magic loop tutorial and I am happily half way thru the body of the snowman pattern! And only started knitting about 1 mo ago at age 60!!
@judimccaffrey9411 wow that’s impressive stuff! A whole world of knitting awaits have fun :)
Excellent tutorial. Thanks so much 😊
You’re so welcome Maggie. Thanks for the lovely feedback
Thank you for this video! I think it will help to keep my fingers from cramping when I am told to use the 16" shorter needles/cables (I prefer the longer needles)! ❤
I hope it works for you 🤞it could get annoying doing this all the time so another option you might like to try is using 2 long circulars instead? You knit the first half with 1 circular and then always knit the other half with the other circular. So it’s easiest to use 2 circulars that look different so you don’t muddle them up
OR now I’ve woken up: A popular way to knit smaller stuff in the round with a long circular is Magic Loop! I’ve a beginner video here: th-cam.com/video/qtQNN6IDfhA/w-d-xo.html
So cute and just what I was looking for.. thank you!
Thanks a lot so glad you like it ❤
Great video I actually want to give it a go now! Explained really well with step by step instructions. Where can I get the shorter interchangeable needles tho? ❤
Cool I’m so glad! If you mean a 16 inch circular for a hat, they’re widely available from yarn stores or Amazon in either fixed or interchangeable. If you’ve never used circulars I’d maybe start with a fixed so it’s simpler & you can get a feel for what needles you like before investing in an interchangeable system. Or do you mean very short circular needles for socks, sleeves etc which are more unusual?
@ I mean the shorter knit pro that you are using in the video
@@sarahlittle2635 ah ok, so these are knitpro symfonie "special tips" that are shorter (4 inches instead of 5) which you need for the shorter 16 inch cables. I'm in Europe where KnitPro products are a bit different but I think the equivalent in the US are listed under 'Special IC' on this page: www.knitterspride.com/d/symfonie-dreamz/interchangeable-circular-needle/en Your local yarn store may well stock knitpro and could even have sample needles from different brands to try which can really help. Or here's an Amazon link (affiliate) - any listed as 10cm in the dropdown should be the shorter "special tips": amzlink.to/az0mCU2ygRVGD Hope this helps, Janine

Magic loop?
I’ve a magic loop tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/qtQNN6IDfhA/w-d-xo.html
I had previously watched another person's video on this technique, thought nope, watched yours, thought yep. Tku
Wow what a compliment! 😊 That means a lot thanks & hope you have lots of fun with magic loop
I probably watched the same one.😅 This one is so much more clear!
@judimccaffrey9411 Ha! I’m so pleased you find the video easy to follow thanks
I need this border If you could do it slower for beginner. Thank you
I'll add your video request to my list but here's all you need to do: First, do 1 or more rounds of single crochet as a base. The final round is where the magic happens: just slip stich into the next stitch, chain 1 and repeat that all the way round! So the fancy border is actually just slip stitches separated by chains. Hope this helps, Janine
I appreciate this video being slow. I am a visual learner. Only short to do it slow and have their hands out the way. Thank you!
Thanks Ashlee it means a lot getting such nice feedback
omg duh! 😭 thank you
Glad it helped & happy knitting ☺️
This is the best and clearest vide I have been able to find to explain knitting in the round and joining the stitches. Thank you for your clear instructions. Your pace and video instructions are perfect. Thank you!
So happy to help & it means a lot getting lovely feedback like this thank you ❤️
It’s beautiful. Where can I I get the pattern please
Thank you! It’s the Wisteria sweater by Along Avec Anna www.alongavecanna.com/product/wisteria-jumper/
this looks as satisfying as i find crocheting. might pick up a pair of these kneedles and try it out
Cool! 👏 It’s still slower than crochet but it’s lovely when you can do both & make ALL the things!! ☺️
Can you do a full video tutorial for this sweater?
It’s not my design. It’s the wisteria sweater by Along Avec Anna here’s the link www.alongavecanna.com/product/wisteria-jumper/ I’d only recommend it for experienced knitters who have already knit a basic sweater before & are comfortable knitting a lace chart. Here’s a playlist of short clips while knitting the sweater - it took a while LOL th-cam.com/play/PLTaU8ErRsjQPHGFrh8HxV4hJ7A4UewXWv.html&si=Mc8BQHQ-92q2aYNR
@ thank you. I’m a visual learner and am learning to knit. I find videos always helps me
@ TH-cam is so cool for crafting because everything makes much more sense when you see it! If you would like to progress to making sweaters like this, I’d start by learning to knit in the round. I’ve a tutorial here th-cam.com/video/weL0KJva3lo/w-d-xo.html and a free hat pattern. After that project look for videos for knitting a simple top down sweater. Then once you’ve got the hang of knitting a basic sweater, you could have fun experimenting with lace knitting ☺️
At last, tutorial I can follow. So perfectly explained. Thank you.
So lovely to hear thanks & happy knitting ❤️
Thank you, you saved me with this 🥹
Fantastic! Happy to help ❤️
making my first project right now, did this and now there is a section of extra yarn in between the first stitch i made and the last one. is this my error or is it cause by this? is there a fix? thanks !!
If this is right at the start when you join in the round, tugging the yarn tail and working yarn to snug things up helps avoid a gap. But especially for beginners, knitting in the round is a lot easier with the right length needle. What are you knitting? If it's an adult hat, that would be a 16 inch/40 cm circular. I've a tutorial showing how to start a hat in the round here th-cam.com/video/weL0KJva3lo/w-d-xo.html and the joining part is about 2 1/2 mins in. Hope this helps
Knitting pink is what makes me the happiest.... so there's a lot of pink in my wardrobe!
@@AudreeAdam aw me too! 💖 in fact I think everything I’ve knit for myself in the last year has been pink 🤭
Something round.. but no idea! Will you close the opening? Man, I really don't know especially with the colors!
@@AudreeAdam you’re right it’s round 👏 it’s nearly all white & closed at both ends
Great video, nicely explained.
@@Jan-v2x thanks so much Jan ☺️
Wow you made it the easiest to understand- your tips helped me to be less anxious too! Thank you so much
You’re very welcome & this is so nice to hear thanks ❤️ it’s easy to get stressed out about these things but I wish you lots of lovely relaxing knitting time ☺️
Thank you for your clear and informative video. I am a beginner knitter. Can you suggest how to best hold your yarn and circular needles? My right hand goes off the right needle after every stitch. Thank you.
I hold circular needle tips the same way as knitting with straight needles. If you’re holding differently with a circular, have you tried knitting back & forth with a circular instead of straights as an interim step? I’ve a tutorial for that here: th-cam.com/video/4HNwU0CX1Vs/w-d-xo.html Mind you every time I wrap the yarn around while knitting a stitch, my right hand lifts off the needle. So if that’s what you mean it’s all good! 😊
I saw white, black green and red, i think of dragon fruit
Interesting! But this is nearly all white with a little black and orange. Then add any bright colour. I used red for 1, green for another because those colours are popular at a certain time of year 😊
The color palette looks like a dragon fruit 😅
Does this work for sleeve cuffs k1 p1? Would you move the stitches differently?
Yes you could use it for that in exactly the same way, but a cuff and lower part of sleeve is a lot more knitting so using magic loop would be quicker & more enjoyable. I’ve a magic loop beginners tutorial here th-cam.com/video/qtQNN6IDfhA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cCS3nKJJYnihhQxg Alternatively you can get very short circulars (less than 30cm) which are a handy way to knit sleeves. The spare needle technique in this demo is really just a way to finish a few rounds of a hat or similar without needing to learn much else or have other needles. Hope this helps, Janine
Me coming to the commeta to look for the answer but no one commented 😂
@@Leigh-f7d so you could get it right first time ☺️ any ideas?
Best and easiest explanation I've seen yet. Thank you!
You’re so welcome! It means a lot to get such nice feedback thanks ☺️
I'm very much a beginner at knitting magic loop. It has intimidated me for many years. And this morning I found your excellent tutorial: I can do it at last. Thank you so much. I'm actually looking forward to knitting a baby hat tonight. 🎉❤
Aw thanks so much you’ve made my week! ❤️ I’m delighted it clicked for you & now there’s a whole new part of the knitting world to have fun exploring - hats, socks, gloves etc! Hope you enjoy knitting the little baby hat & many more things ☺️
Wow!!! what a beautiful work this is perfect for Halloween party!
@@JoshuaOmes-l8q thanks so much Joshua. It’s really quick to crochet - the pinning out to dry takes a bit longer but it’s worth it. My spider web still has its perfect shape after 2 years
@@craftfixblog I already made it thank you!
