    A lot of students overlook the high admission /high graduating rates public schools which provide quality education for competitive price both for instate and out-of-state students. Ohio University is such an example. It's admit rate stands at 85 percent, and its graduation rate stands at 87 percent. Tuition stands at about 13,000 for instate and about 24,000 for out-of-state students. The campus is huge, and the college town is fantastic, and there are many more such schools.

    It is ridiculous to me that colleges require students to know what they want to do with their life by 10th or 11th grade and focus on that path in their extracurriculars and internships. Come on! Students change majors all the time once they get to college, why would you use that as a means to determine success at your school?

    As a student who did Onramps courses, trust me, they are each incredibly harder than any AP class and I know this personally and from every single person I've talked to and I've taken Onramps courses since 9th grade high school. They are incredibly time crunching and require extensive brain capacity. Please reconsider the take that UT Austin admissions are looking for AP courses over Onramps courses. Also because the Onramps courses were arguably mandated and every higher achieving student in our grade has been taking the same Onramps courses and they are regarded the same level or arguably more difficult than the AP courses at my school.

    Good info! I think these schools that would like to be test optional realize that a mean of 1160 on the SAT in the case of UT for those who did not share their score affects how the student does in school and ultimately graduation rates. Additionally, they are getting overwhelmed by the numbers applying in test optional that probably would not apply otherwise, especially in the hard to get majors. AP calculus in high school is probably a must for business and stem majors. The good news is there are many Texas Public universities and there is a place for everyone. After your first few jobs where you went to school will matter less than your job performance and reviews for work!

    My son is an in-state student who transfered from Korea when he was in the middle of his 10th grade. So he couldn't have any AP classes till 10th grade. Despite struggling by choosing 6 AP classes in his 11th grade, his WGPA is still only 4.14 (UWGPA is 3.84). He got all scores 5 in 6 AP exams. His SAT and ACT score are 1570 and 36. He has applied to the architecture of Texas A&M. His class rank is just around 25 percentile because his high school is so competitive. He is a naitonal merit semifinalist and waiting for the finalist result. I would like to know if he can get any chance to get into Texas A&M Architecture. Thank you.

I would mention that if an applicant has a question relating to the specifics of their application once they have access to their AIS portal, they can post the questions from the Contact Us tab and a member of the processing team will answer it directly. Otherwise, Aggie One Stop is happy to help with calls and emails for admission questions.

    I think there are a few other reasons for students sending out more applications. 1. I think some are expanding their list outside of historical geographic norms for political reasons. 2. Some are expanding their list because finding a financial match has moved up over social fit or academic match. With a shrinking applicant pool, casting a wider net can find more bargains in the college marketplace. Especially for high achieving students. 3. The Common App has 335 colleges on it that require no application fee and no essay making it super easy to add colleges to your list with no extra effort or cost.

  • @Catcapozzi
    @Catcapozzi ปีที่แล้ว

    But shotgunning applications does help if the "offer of admissions rate" for schools increases because of the application inflation. I have to think this is happening. For ex, if Vandy knows kids are applying to 20 schools instead of just 5 others, they know it's less probable for them to matriculate. Thus, they ostensibly offer admissions to a greater number of students to offset that inflation. This is why I don't necessarily trust the admit rate (which I assume is a metric of class size and applications received), but would rather want to know how many offers of admissions were made against applications received.
