New truck for the channel!! 1999 Nissan Frontier 4WD V6 - Trakmotive high angle CV axles.
Excited to reveal the "new" truck I will be working on here on the channel! My 1999 Nissan Frontier 4WD manual V6 daily driver. I have had this truck for several years now but it has had a long way to come in maintenance and reliability before I got it to the point where I could feel justified in modifying it. With the help of my good friend Steve I feel like it is finally at that point but in true 90's Nissan fashion it needs a bit more love before we can dive into the fun bits! Starting the series off with replacing the CV axles with some Trakmotive high angle ones since the right side one had blown and was making some heinous noises.
As promised here are some links to check out:

Anyways hope you guys are as excited as I am about this truck and don't worry more content will be on the way for both this and the Datsun 620, thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing!

Silvia swapped Datsun 620 - Street drive and Vibrant resonator install
มุมมอง 2.6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
First time I get to show you guys the truck on the road!! I have had this Vibrant resonator for a while now and figured what a good excuse to get to make a street drive video. Lots still to wrap up on the truck before I can get it on the road officially so stay tuned! Thanks for watching and see you in the next one.
Air to water intercooler build Part 1- [SR20det - Datsun 620]
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I tackle the air side of my air to water intercooler build on my 240sx swapped Datsun 620. Had some troubles along the way but got most of the way there in the end! If you want to see the plumbing, electronics, finished product then consider subscribing. Thanks for watching and let me know what you think in the comments.
Datsun 620 - SR20DET [ Building a full custom exhaust and tip ]
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I go over building the exhaust for the 240sx swapped Datsun 620. I filmed this video several months back but decided not to release it until I could get a sound clip. In that sound clip the turbo isn't feeding into the intake and the truck is not tuned or running at 100% at all so that's why it sounds like it is running so rough, because well it is lol. Anyway let me know what you...
Repairing a wiring harness - [SR20 to Datsun 620 transmission sub harness]
มุมมอง 1.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey guys I just wanted to make a video while doing this because I thought someone might find it useful. A simple project like this might be just what you need to get into wiring and realize it isn't as tough as it can seem. If you like this video or learned something new considering subscribing or leaving a comment or like. I will be back on the 620 soon for the final engine install so you defi...
Using my 3D printer to fit my 240sx steering column to my Datsun 620
มุมมอง 1.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I go over how I made a 3D printed jig to ensure my new steering U joint is perfectly centered on the column. Just to be clear it is only used to keep it concentric while assembling and will be removed before everything is final welded. If you have questions feel free to drop them below and as always thanks for watching!

Nice ive had y frontier for 25 years now first engine lasted just over 500,000 miles
I have a 99 frontier 4x4 and my bearings are completely different wtf
Enjoying the build! Please keep the videos coming! Inspiring me to work on my rust bucket!
These trucks are bullet proof.
ok. thats the best setup iv seen so far. good job!
I'm currently searching for a decent first gen Frontier. I'm retired and need a good project.
Love it. I have a 2000 Frontier and I've done the Trakmotive axles too. If you Google Babe the Blue Ox Frontier, you'll find it. Would love to see more of what you do with this truck!
I like my heavy steering, reminds me that it's oldschool. Sitting on the bench seat, working the 4 gear's and unassisted steering, no power window's, manual choke, makes me feel like im in my grandads car, i love the smell of the leather and petrol vapours, it's like church for me and a way to not be so comfortable all the time, she's not a daily though just a toy. Longbed 620 76
These are the coolest small trucks from this vintage.
What front bumper is that looks really clean and doesn’t seem to low have you lowered it at all or mostly left the height stock
cant wait to get rid of mine
Nice setup..!! I really like how it looks. How do you like the intake temperatures with the water to water intercooler? I’m planning to do that for my swap but I heard mix reviews with the intercoolers.
Haven't monitored it but most oem manufacturers are going with water to air these days, if you have a sufficient heat exchanger it will work well!
How much hp/boost are you able to have with all these parts in your build?
This intercooler is rated for 350HP and 70psi. My piping welds would probably burst long before that. I've never dynod this thing and run with no boost gauge but I have a 10psi waste so I recon it runs at 10 psi.
Just started a 240sx suspension swap into my 620 and your channel has been some great inspiration! Miss seeing this truck!
I appreciate that! I seriously need to get back to making videos but I haven't worked on this thing in months 😭. I was driving the wheels off it all summer though
I just bought a 1998 nissan frontier and its given me problems.....its loses power at the pedal with driving then turns off...starts back up but will repeat the problem
Your MAF is bad and it might need a tune up. Only use NGK spark plugs and wires. Clean the MAF and replace it only with OE parts if necessary.
@cesarconh895 yes it was the maf..it's running now..
what ever happened to this truck and to your channel? i see you havent uploaded in a while. just started doing a similar build with a 620 over on my channel!
I just got my hands on a 620 pickup and I'm wanting to do something very similar on my channel. debating using a bmw subframe. way less cool but hopefully easier to find parts for. thanks for documenting this, tons of great info
I got a 1999 too and I swapped out the engine with a VG30E 300zx engine and and it’s been running over 10 years now !!!!
Daddyyy
Nice whip, what oil pan/pick up tube used to fit the z chasis?
Nice meeting you today at C&C dude. Keep up the good work. Will have to catch up on the videos on your channel.
1:14 without resonator 11:09 with resonator makes a world of difference and sounds great !!
Amazing how you can custom fabricated all those stuff & doing all the build by yourself
Thank you it's something I'm pretty proud of 🙏
Would love to see more, just got the same exact truck and looking to learn more about it past the preventative maintenance and up keep I've done with mine. Solid truck though
Maintenance is key on these old things. It's a tougher platform for lifting since it's torsion bar but I have some fun easy mods planned.
@@PortysChopshop Agreed, picked it up from an old rancher I used to work for and been doing as much as I can before driving cross country to my duty station. Belts, spark plug/wires, all the fluids, timing belt, water pump and thermostat
Hey what year rims is on this truck?
These are Toyota rims +2015
The original handle is better & give the 620 a vintage classic looks
Get well soon for you have a sick build
very nice. congrass...
Awesome man I live in washougal and got a 98 2.4l in the same color. 5 spd 4wd. I'm getting 31s put on tomorrow I love these trucks. I got the same paint problems lol. I posted a few videos on it.
I'll have to check those out thanks! These do love losing their paint don't they! Something about this gen Frontier makes me love it!
@@PortysChopshop what are some first mods you'd recommend me doing to the truck?
Love the build I recently bent the frame on my z32tt and wanna swap front, rear and engine into a Datsun 620 and this gives me hope it’s possible
You know the old phrase, anything is possible with time and money 😅. Hopefully some of what's here is helpful in venture!
Hey i like you truck! I have a same truck like yours, i want the way to lifted your truck. Can you send it here the link where you get your lifting kit? Thank you in advance
Thank you! It is actually all factory suspension. I only have the 17 inch wheels and bigger tires that is all.
Sub for more Frontier videos.
That thin sheet metal will not provide any structural support. Your frame is not structurally safe at all.
Pretty obvious when some one doesn't watch the whole thing yet still feels the need to comment 🫡
@@PortysChopshop I did watch the whole thing. Good luck!
Nice job..amigo..my truck is 1973..I'm starting to fixing it!
Best of luck 🙏 appreciate it
Where did you buy your radiator?
Ebay. Gotta look around now though, last time I was on there most of them were going for $1500 for some reason
I know you’ve probably finished fabricating by now but are you cleaning the oxidation off the aluminum before attempting to weld it?
I am finished fabricating but I still appreciate the feedback! I was cleaning it up, I think it ended up just being a really bad piece to fit up to, not thick enough.
nice one, im from indonesia
Nice music!✌🏾✌🏾
That is another great video. Hey, question, can you please provide me with he specifications of the rear shocks, weight rating, brand, how long are they? I would like to get a qa1 shock set . Did you have to weight your car to get the correct shocks? I thing that your car weights around 1350lbs. Mine might be around 1900-2000 lbs. Any information will help me. Thank you
My truck is probably closer to 2700 lbs last I weighed it. I did not do any measuring I ended up going with all 240sx suspension. I will eventually upgrade to BC racing suspension and will post a video on that when I do!
Love this video series man! What radiator are you running? I also have a sr620.
Thanks! I'm actually just using an ebay radiator, they have skyrocketed in price in the last year though which was very disappointing after I ruined the first one. 😅
I dig it, definitely something I wanna do on my 510. Thank you for the upload! Great progress on the 620! Keep it up! 😁👏👏👏
Thanks I appreciate that! 🙏
What happened to the bed flooring?
Haven't installed it yet, got the inner fenders done though so that should be soon
How to contact you
I have an email in my profile
Love this kind of stuff modernish tech in old school body.
Thanks! It is what I was going for.
Nice. Thank you so much. This help a lot. I am trying to do the same with a smaller Datsun 1200 pick up. Great video..
Thanks glad it helped!
Sounds good. I had to use two vibrant mufflers and a ultra quiet resonator to get the 3" to be bearable
Hey man really nice build. Did the sump clear the cross over / high steer setup?
This was a buddy of mine's build so I'm not sure sorry
Nice! You should do an episode of the suspension at work, that'd be cool to see with the new setup.
I plan to when I get the coils I'll be going with for sure!!
Hopefully now lowering down to the ground. That crap looks punched out.
Brilliant! This is awesome! 👌🏽 watching from Northern Ireland, keep it up!
Thanks for tuning in!! 🙏🙏
I love it when people give me a 👍
