Aulani is amazing but very busy we went off season and it was still very busy ! Also be prepared to spend a fortune on food it’s very expensive ! Make sure you don’t miss the story telling by the fire it was such a nice experience ! If you like to venture from the hotel then I would recommend Lanikai beach nice clear water !
Thanks for watching and commenting!! We appreciate it so much! When in the off season did you go? We were there in April last year and while it wasn't empty, it wasn't super busy either. We didn't get to do the storytelling by the fire, so we will definitely do that next time we go. Thanks for the heads up! And yes, the food was on the $$$ side, for sure. Especially if you're used to da local grindz. Mahalo!
Great job Kelly! One of my favorite spots when I was younger. Still my favorite aquarium that I have ever been to. They used to have an old schooner or some type sailing ship that was converted to a restaurant . That was pretty cool. Went there for a few days around 7 years ago. The places were all still good. Bubba Gump was fun. I forget the name of the nice restaurant on the water we ate at. The hotel was beautiful. The cruise around was nice. But. The homeless were an issue. They were everywhere. Maybe they weren't in the Winter. Homeless people, while sad of course, don't bother me particularly. This area had lots of people really bugging you for money. One was, well, lets say very insulting to my wife. Just as she was getting over that, another guy decided to expose himself. We had 6 or 7 bad interactions with them over just a few days.
Thanks for watching and commenting, John!! Yes, when we were there a couple summers ago, the homeless were more prevalent. This time around, there was hardly any. One person was walking around asking for money, but he was being comical about it. I actually don't mind when they make it funny. Kinda like those signs that say "I'll be honest, I just need money for beer." But yes, when they are insulting or aggressive or rude, it certainly leaves a stain on your experience. When we were in San Francisco a year ago, there was a man walking around Fisherman's Wharf with his hands down his pants ogling younger girls. There were definitely homeless there but not nearly what a lot of the media make it out to seem. It's still a place I love to go to. And when my wife and I were in Paris a couple years ago, we encountered the most aggressive panhandlers and scammers ever while trying to visit the Sacre Coeur. We didn't even get to go inside because they would block you trying to sell these cheap bracelets. And when you declined they would get very aggressive and even try to grab you. My being from Los Angeles and growing up around a lot of gang members, and being a hockey player, I have a short fuse LOL. I grabbed one of them and shoved him back and they all cried foul and scattered out. I don't think they were actually scared of lil ol' me, but I'm sure they didn't want to cause more of a scene than needed...it's just most people, especially Europeans and tourists, have a lot higher threshold for stuff like that. So they get away with it more than not. Anyway, a long winded reply to say that Baltimore was great this time around. Let's hope in the summertime, it's the same!
Would you got for a 3 night trip?
@@travelmanMN I believe it was three nights, yeah. Mighta been two. It was a multi stop trip up and down the east coast from NY to Outer Banks.

I’m going to check out their west coast routes. We are planning a trip to Tahoe this summer.
Yes! Please do! I browsed them quickly but don't remember if they fly to Tahoe. If so, you should definitely consider them. Thanks for the comments, Rich!
@ they do fly to Vegas though! 🃏 Although I saw the closest airport that they operate from to me is Salem, Oregon 3.5 hours drive.
Avelo is an amazing airline. They have such amazing service, their crew members are extremely nice people. They depart on-time almost all the time. The only reason they have to delay flight occasionally is due to bad weather at KHVN.
Thanks for sharing! They are dubbed the most reliable, and from my experience, they were early. So here's hoping they keep it up and improve on other areas as well!

Where did you stay @gertyglockenschpitle7711?
My family just returned from 11 days in Hawaii. We didn't stay at Aulani, but we did try to stop in and see it. Overall we were not impressed. Disney tried to create a bubble but what we found was unhappy and unhelpful cast members and rude guests. This was a huge contrast to the Aloha vibes that we experienced accross the islands. We did have multiple people try to sell us a timeshare at Aulani. They were the only staff who made an effort to talk yo us. If you want to visit Hawaii visit Hawaii! If you want to be in a Disney bubble go to Disney World. This resort is just a sad crowded place.
I can see why you would call it a bubble. That's a pretty good description and that sucks you had a bad experience, but yes, it does seem that if you aren't staying there, there's not much for you to do. I mean, you can attend the luau, and you can book a spa appointment, but other than that, not so much. You can't use any of the pools and even the lagoon is sort of off limits. But I'm surprised that the staff was rude. They were nothing but amazing when we were there. Overaccommodating even. But I'm sure it's because we were staying there. One thing I will say is that if you do stay at Aulani, you're not trapped there. You can venture off and see the rest of the island. Not everything is black and white. And it's definitely not sad, but is it crowded, especially in the summer.
The staff was very polite and friendly during our 10 day stay. We loved it there. We had a rental car and saw some tourist sites.
@TheVacationAgent to be clear, the staff was not rude. The guests were rude! The staff seemed unhappy. I would assume because of all the rude guests
Does Aulani offer day passes for the pool areas?
Hi Michelle. From what I know, you can only use the aulani pools if you have an overnight reservation there. I’ve heard that if you’re local you can but I can’t find any confirmation of that anywhere. So I would say no, there are no day passes available for pool usage.
I just tried to stop in for the day with my family. We were not welcomed. We were not allowed to meet Mickey. Basically this was the most unfriendly Disney staff we have ever encountered. The pool area was impressive and well themed but very crowded. I'm glad we stopped to see it because we learned we weren't missing anything by not staying here.
You can use the beach, restaurants and spa as a day visit, but the water park, amenities, and characters are a no.
What does a room cost here per night?
There are a variety of room types all with different price ranges. You can expect to pay at least $557 per night. That’s for their smallest room with the least favorable view and in the off peak season. If you’re interested in finding deals, we are partnered with Plannin. Check out our link here: plannin.com/en/profile/TheVacationAgent
I want to like it, but I’m not convinced. I was hoping it would be more like a Disney Cruise, true all-inclusive: shows, dining, etc.. For the price of the rooms, I’ll take the Marriott. For the price of the Luau- you can choose from a lot of Luau shows across the islands.. If the Luau and all dining are included (like a cruise) and it had themed dining options (like the cruise) then the price may be justified. But for just a mid effort of character meets and separate charges for all the events and amenities- I don’t see exceptional value or representation of the premium brand Disney showcases in other places.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. It’s true that if you’re looking for a bonafide Disney experience, Aulani isn’t the place to go. It’s more for those who appreciate some Disney while also being in paradise, like me. But the luau is competitively priced, believe it or not. Can you find cheaper food on the island? Sure, but you get what you pay for a lot of times. And the Marriott has nowhere near the level of pools Aulani has. But if you have older kids or no kids at all, maybe the Marriott is the way to go. I’m sure it’s more peaceful there. Again, thanks for stopping by and I hope you can enjoy more of our videos!
@ seems pointless to fly to Hawaii to sit at a pool. Great Wolf lodge has the same pools year round, and it’s only a mile away from Disneyland in Anaheim. If you’re going to Hawaii, go to Hawaii. The only reason I would consider a Disney property is for what the Disney brand exclusively offers. If the resort included shows and other entertainment as part of the all inclusive (no extra charge) experience - the price would be justified. But you’re talking a $500/night difference ($300 vs $800) minimum, and that doesn’t seem to add up when you factor in additional costs for meals and entertainment. It’s not just that the price is lower - it’s that the there isn’t appreciable value for Aulani. If you want a great experience of doing the same things at 1/4 the cost, go to a Marriott resort in Kauai, go to the epic Smiths Family Luau in Kapaa, go snorkeling at Poipu, take a catamaran along NaPali coast, etc.. Kauai isn’t that big of an island that you can’t do several activities per day, while also being IN Hawaii and experiencing the actual Hawaii. I’m researching a vacation for the family and having absolutely loved Disney Cruises, I had high hopes for Aulani. But objectively - I’m just not seeing the differentiation. Each video I watch just leaves me more disappointed. But also, thank you for such a great presentation. 👍
I’d have to graciously disagree with you about the great wolf and aulani pools being the same. Both are great but in a very different way. But I know you’re arguing more about whether you should even be in a pool in Hawaii which I understand but don’t fully agree with either. I’ve been visiting Maui and Oahu all my life and I prefer to stay somewhere where I can both swim in a pool and be near the ocean. I was an owner at Hyatt Vacation Club Kaanapali for 5 years. Nothing beats being able to do both. And aulani offers exactly that. Either way, you seem to value your money, which is great. Everyone should. I understand trying to get the most for every dollar. And when you watch video after video and none of them are adding value or are convincing you, then it’s most likely not the place for you. I want you to have a vacation that’s stress free. It’s the whole point of taking one. So even if my video and others like it convince you to go somewhere else, that’s great too. For me, I loved it and am going again next year. But I know it’s not for everyone. Hopefully you find that special place and again, thank you so much for the discussion and watching the video! Mahalo and aloha!
WOW some seriously important info here! I just renewed my license September. I wish i got the special one now!! I figured i have a passport so I dont need that. Never imagined i would need it for domestic flights! 😢
Yes, supposedly, if you have a passport, you're good to go. But who knows if that'll change in the future. Thanks for watching, man!
looking at may 25 going for our honeymoon! idk if wailea or ka’anapali … any advice ?
First of all, congratulations 🍾! Second, thank you for watching and commenting! Third and most important, you really can’t go wrong with either. Wailea has more of an upscale feel. The hotels, shopping, restaurants, and golf courses are all very high end. And you have Kehei close by. But the beaches are not as good as in Kaanapali. On the other hand, Kaanapali is more family friendly and although very nice and high end as well, it doesn’t have that same top tier feel. Kaanapali beach is always rated as one of the best beaches in the world with every activity you can think of. Also black rock and Napili beach have some of the best snorkeling anywhere. Both places are top notch for romance and both places will definitely make lifetime memories. To me, it’s deciding whether to stay somewhere high class and a little more structured or somewhere more loose and family friendly. Hope this helps! Let us know what you decide to do!!!
@ excellent feed back thanks!! Well, we are nightowels and like lounges bars but I don’t think there would be much difference there since Lahani probably is not up and running fully? Less kids would be great but then torn with the better beaches in Kaanapali ! Rough decision for sure ! Thanks again for the through feed back!! doing honolulu for 4 days and maui for -4-5 guess not worth it to split 2 and 2 with Wailea and Kaanapali right? I love an upscale vibe of course with the right pool and beach it’s amazingl.
My wife and I are Hyatt people. We’ve stayed at the Andaz Wailea and we owned a timeshare at Hyatt Residence Club Kaanapali. If you want to kill two birds then it’s not a bad idea to split the nights. But for that honeymoon vibe, you can’t go wrong with Wailea. It’s a great spot for couples. Kihei just up the road or Makena just down the road both have amazing beaches. Plus you’re right next to turtle town where you can snorkel or get a glass bottom kayak and look for sea turtles. Really, it’s Hawaii. You cannot go wrong. The only drawback is like you said, Lahaina is still not back to normal. I don’t think it’ll be back like it was for at least another 5-10 years. 🙁
@ Thank you so much! you have been extremely helpful! Waliea sounds like the best Bet I was looking and saw bars are open till 12 so that’s a plus seems like bars open later there than Kaanapali actually . I’m sure that’s with all that has happened Any preference on which town has better restaurants? we like the upscale vibe and the better resorts so this sounds of our ally. we like late night life, but it sounds like with Lahaina it is best for us to go Waliea instead. I am sad we’ll miss out on the best beaches but know it is Hawaii. We like Hyatt as well. Any thoughts on resorts down there as well? i only saw the hyatt that peaked interest but wondering on the beach the Hyatt has while the marriott too stood out too and similar concerns on the beach access. would be nice to have something right outside the pool area .Thanks again! big help!
An absolute must for dinner is Mama’s Fish House in Pa’ia. It’s a bit of a hike but it’s absolutely worth it. Especially for a honeymoon. By far the best restaurant on Maui. But if I had to choose between the two areas, kaanapali has a slight edge restaurant wise. As for hotels, I totally recommend the Hyatt Andaz Wailea. Four Seasons Wailea if you can afford it, or the Ritz Carlton or Fairmont in Wailea.
The reason of many passengers start to use a carry on more often ,is because they charge too much to dispatch the luggage, also if they want to speed up the boarding mess with people in the middle of the alley, the need to start to call first the people who go to the back of the plane instead to call the first rows as priority, these people, really feel more important because of that? Fill the back first to avoid the mess.
That’s true. Airline fees are getting so bad. Good observation and thanks for commenting and watching!!
There is a reason they don't do this. New planes are lighter and if you filled the back first they tip back. It happened in Chicago last year. They load the bags into the front first and unload the bags from the back first. Once I was in a plane and it took soo long unloading the baggage was already off the flight attendant said "we needed to hurry (a person had blocked the aisle, and the whole aisle had emptied) or we were going to tip back."
@@truneilson That is crazy! Thank you for sharing this. I had never heard of that before. Just goes to show that there is always a reason for why things are done a certain way, even when it might not make sense to the public.
I was also there in May of 2024 and it was quite nice without all of the people!
It was! Can’t wait to go back. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Previously a life long Disney fan but haven’t given them a cent in many years now. It’s going to stay that way until they disavow their perverse agenda of grooming our children for the sickos.
Johnny, thank you for your comments. I am aware of these things and it conflicts me also. But I believe there’s more to it than just an entire organization behind such a terrible thing. These types of things are usually more nuanced than that. Does that give consumers an excuse to keep buying their products? Not necessarily. But I need more information because they do offer a world class product. On the same note, have people stopped buying iPhones because of the slave labor in Africa or child labor in China? It’s a crazy world we live in and we’re all sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don’t believe any successful company becomes successful without some controversy. Definitely some more than others. But where do we draw the line?
Love airline reviews vlogs experience and so forth
Awesome! We have quite a few airline videos! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!
So sad😢
Hopefully the healing and mending are coming along well.
Excellent
Thank you!! So glad you enjoyed it!
Hey man! How do i reach out.
3 Valleys, Dolomiti Super Ski, St Anton, Verbier, Val dIsere, Zermatt, Saalbach, Chamonix, Ischgl, ....
Great suggestions. Thanks for commenting.
Åre in Sweeden should definetly be in this video, considering resorts like Sunnmøre, Ålesund and Riksgränsen are mentioned...
I like this suggestion. Maybe we will make a part two. Which resorts do you recommend?

Airlines and the people they employ to deal directly with the public have both become almost totalitarian. I'm a former third level airline pilot and I have little time for them now. There was once a time about forty years ago when I enjoyed flying as a passenger. Now I would rather drive to my destination.
That’s very interesting!! Do you think the flight attendants and airlines are mostly to blame or do you think some of that falls on the minority of bad passengers that ruin it for everyone else?
Since many of our domestic airlines’ flight attendants jobs doesn't start until the plane’s door is closed they are not helping you with your carryon luggage, can you blame them.
Interesting take! Can you tell me where you got that info? Are you a current or former flight attendant?
Don’t forget about the 3 shows in Vancouver BC in December. Video time again.
LOL, is this a call for more Swift or for some Vancouver love? Or maybe both? None of us have actually been to Vancouver before, even though I grew up a Canucks fan in Los Angeles after seeing Pavel Bure in the '94 All-Star game. In any case, thanks so much for watching and commenting. Not sure if I can turn around a video before her ERAS tour gets there, but I'll see what we can do!
Which one of these hostels are in Kihei?
Hi there! Thanks for commenting. None of the hostels mentioned are in Kihei. We did mention the Kihei Surfside Resort which is a very affordable condo style accommodation. When are you planning on visiting Maui?
Was in Maui this past August 2024, it was my first time and was absolutely stunning! Of course it was devastating driving through the areas that were affected, one of the main roads had just opened up a few days prior to us visiting. Anyone visiting please be respectful to the locals… they were nothing but amazing to us. 🌺❤️
Awesome to hear and thank you for sharing. I hope you found our video helpful.
I just went on Delta site and it says carry on 22 x 14 x 9, no change down to 21
@smoothsketch you are correct. Delta has not and will not be changing their carry-on size limits. That is an error on our part and we apologize. There's no excuse for our faulty reporting. We can only promise to do better moving forward. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
it’s the weight that will cause me problems. Need a bag that weighs less and still has wheels
I think the Rimowa carry on agrees with you. It’s significantly lighter (4.9lbs) than almost any other bag but it’s also pretty pricey at $760. They must know something 🤔🤣
I found this one is small enough to be a personal under the seat bag but also has wheels, TPRC 15" underseater carry-on luggage with wheels w/ USB Port It is a decent bag for $50
Great find! I may have to try this one out!
TravelPro MaxLite 5 - it’s 21” carryon weighs 5lb 6oz.
Several airlines have insisted they are "cracking down" on "already-existing rules", not "new" rules made. I'm in Canada, and I have been on two flights recently on WestJet, who says the "personal size" item is TINY, the size of a small purse (16 x 13 x 6 inches, which in cm is 31 x 15 x 33). I can't find a small backpack or tote that is that small, and even more annoying is the fact of when i put my bag under the seat in front of me, there was WAY more room - I could have EASILY fit a regular over-packed backpack under that. They are MESSING with us! 😆 Thanks for the video; I love your happy, amused voice narrating. Have a great week!
That's interesting information. Maybe WestJet was just thinking about your legroom? Haha. Seriously, that is pretty annoying. I'd love to know their reasoning? They can't just be MESSING with us...right? BTW so glad you enjoy the narration! Thank you so much for watching!
@@TheVacationAgent RIGHT?! 😆
No chance the roof is going to be open in November
Yeah, we kind of figured. Bummer. Are you going to be attending any of Taylor's performances?
Good to be able to print your BPs online, however, you never know if there is a Gate change unless you checkin at counter⁉️
Great point. Always good to have redundancies!
W video 👍💯
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching and commenting! Please subscribe if you haven't already! We need more subscribers LOL!
You’re so funny, i kept laughing at your jokes, like those marie condo “does it spark joy?” Etc. 😅

TSA PRECHECK is great I love it I was glad I able to get because I 5 times yr
It is a great benefit! We love seeing that TSA PreCheck logo on our boarding passes!
Delta has been doing the advance gate check dance for a while now. Encountered it on a RT NYC-SFO trip in August. I'm okay with it as long as they don't charge me. At least the bags don't go through that luggage maze after the regular check-in. Oh, and ditch the creepy background music.
During editing, I've probably watched this video 10x or more and never once did the music strike me as creepy...BUT since your comment, I can see how it might come off as such. Maybe not all out creepy, but a little eerie for sure. Thanks for pointing that out. Next time it's gonna be at the top of my mind!
Ya forgot the 6th boro, Yonkers! 😂 (A nickname only) Its amazing how much Williamsburg has changed since the days NYC were my stomping grounds. Yes, The Bronx has beaches! Grew up going to Orchard Beach. Staten Island was always best for street racing 😎. Everyone should visit NYC at least once. I suggest October if you like the Foliage change. Or Christmas time is awesome if you don't mind the weather. Its magical still and people seem friendlier this time of year. Ground Zero is still too depressing to me, but i believe everyone should visit once. And if time allows even if you aren't a huge baseball fan, cat h a Yankees game. Take the subway there. Sit in the right field bleachers. Get the full experience. Oh and on Jersey City, you talk about changed!!! Great video. Great info.
Ah cool!! Are you originally from there? My wife and I lived there from 2013 - 2016 before we had kids. Lived in Downtown Brooklyn, then bought a condo in Clinton Hill. I miss it a lot. We go back at least 2-3 times a year. Of course, when I was there, the Yanks were bottom-dwellers, then the moment I leave they start making the playoffs again! Go figure. Thanks for watching man! Glad you liked it!!
@@TheVacationAgent I was born in Yonkers. Mom from The Bronx, Dad from Yonkers. Gree up in Westchester, then lived in Tribeca in the 80's for a while before heading to Fort Lauderdale. Then I lived everywhere 🤣😂. FL, NJ, MD, NY now (Orange County).
I was bringing 4 bottles of Romanian cognac (duty free) back from Romania to the US. We had a flight change in Warsaw, Poland and they told me my carry-on was too heavy. So I transferred the bottles to my wife's carry-on as her carry-on bag weight had already been checked. They saw us doing it and didn't say a word to us.
That's awesome!
In my previous trips to Maui, Lahaina was my primary destination. Other parts of the island were nice but nothing like Lahaina. So, I have been opting to go to Oahu instead of Maui for my Hawaii vacations recently. I would like to go back someday but not right now.
I feel you. When we went in April, there was definitely a hole in our trip. It was still enjoyable for sure, but not the same. I hope they rebuild authentically and not fill it with corporate, household names. You can find all of that in Wailea.
@@TheVacationAgent It’s also very sad to go to Maui knowing that Lahaina is gone!😭
@@Fulgum it was very sad, especially seeing the memorials the locals put up along the roadside.
Thank you for sharing.😊
You're very welcome, and thank you for watching!
@@TheVacationAgent And you are welcome. I am a former Purser Flight Attendant so, yes, suitcases and good ones to use are a must! ☺
took too long to get to the point. I'll read the airline's baggage rules posted on their webpage
Sorry you feel that way.
Your information is good. But what I really like is the sense of humor you deliver the information. Thanks, I had a few good laughs!
