What Disney DOESN'T Want You To Know About Aulani
Thank you so much, this video was so helpful: I’m not going to waste my money and Tokyo day to wait 60 mins for a hotdog… or 3 hrs for a ride….
This was a super helpful video, thank you!
You’re so welcome! I just posted a follow up video as well if you want to check that out!
Hi bro We will be visiting for 2 days 1 night vacation package in both the park in May 14 , do we have to make queue for everything or advance booking will help ?? Any hotel recommendation
If you have a vacation package booked, you should have pre-selected attractions to get tickets for. Once you arrive at the hotel, they will give you physical tickets and vouchers for everything included in your package. We’ve only stayed at the Toy Story Hotel and it was fantastic. I hear the MiraCosta is great, but it’s very expensive. We were in the Disneyland Hotel lobby and it’s incredible. Sort of has a Grand Floridian vibe. Hope this helps!
We booked Disney sea fantasy spring for 2 nights and 3 days vacation package . We are still confused about the reservation for restaurants in lunch and dinner as we are vegetarian what should we do as we got an option of selection. Of restaurants for reservations but if we would like to know for the dinner is it easy or we need to make lines for that also
One more thing to ask is it crowded in middle.May month weekdays
Your first question about vegetarian options is a tricky one. You will need to ask the restaurants. Use google translate on your phone as they likely won’t understand. Menu items don’t even list ingredients in Japan! Second, it depends on where you want to go for dinner. You can do quick service and mobile order and not wait. Or, you can book a reservation at a fancier restaurant and not wait. Do that in advance tho as we tried to book while there and everything was gone!
If you have time to go to only one park, which would you choose Tokyo Disneyland or Disney Sea
That’s a great question - if you’ve never been to a Disney park at all, I would do Disneyland. If you’ve been to WDW or Disneyland in California, I would do DisneySea. They’re very different parks and amazing in their own ways. I’m just a sucker for classic Disneyland magic. You can’t go wrong either way!!
Aulani is really aimed more at DVC members where you will find much more value.
I would agree! Just had this conversation live with someone tonight. The value might not be there for someone paying the full rack rate
@pandytravels yeah I feel like those rates are to discourage too many bookings which would make it difficult for members to book or owners who bought into Aulani as their home resort. I'm visiting it for the first time next week.
Have the best time ever!! It’s amazing 🤩
The last 2 years I visited, basically strolled in for either parks. I am wondering if it is the huge increase in foreign toursts (we are too) that caused it? I may be bringing my friend over this year, and we are wondering if we should even try. Cos the 2 of us are tardy 😓☠ 9am is okie, but to reach there before 8am...
I think it’s two fold. The yen is down causing people to explore in country. And yes obviously that will attract more tourists!
@pandytravels Thank you. Then we better skip.
8:16 Thanks for your videos!! How much did the personalized Mickey ears cost?
You’re welcome! They were $29.99 each!
Great video, very useful! My vacation package goes on sale next week 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼since the website is very busy, when do you think I should access it? I read somewhere that you have only a limited time on the website, so I don't want to go there early but neither queue up for hours 😅TIA!
Great question! As it stands right now, vacation packages go on sale 3pm JST which is 1am EST. I would do a practice run or two to see how the website reacts and you can practice! Vacation packages right now are a bit easier to obtain so don’t stress out too much!
@pandytravels fortunately it's 7 am my time, so a bit easier. When I tried to access the website last month I had to wait for about an hour. I suppose I'll see next week 😅I know the hotels are more competitive but I still have a month to stress over it. Thanks again!
Yes there can be a wait unfortunately. Sometimes it’s unavoidable 😔
Is it possible for say me to line up extremely early then have my wife and kids meet me in line later? Or would people throw a fit for them cutting to join me?
Good question. We saw tons of that so I wouldn’t worry about it. Go for it!!
@ ok thanks, I saw another video of someone doing that but would hate to upset several 100 if not thousands of people in the line I’m in.
It’s very courteous of you to ask! We were in line from 6am - 8:30am and saw tons of local folks doing it. Nobody cared and just kept to themselves. It’s a good crowd :)
@ the video I watched the guy lined up at 3:30am which I’m willing to do but I don’t know if my wife and kids want to get up that early lol. I’d be willing to do it if it helped them get on more rides.
@nathanstepp86 that is serious dedication!!!
Going through our Disney wedding planning now! We get married this April!!
So excited for you!! Where is your ceremony and reception?
When you rent DVC points to book Aulani, can you link the reservation on the Aulani app like you would if you booked directly with Disney?
Yes, it would be the same as any other reservation :) it can get a bit confusing renting points, so it may be worth finding a TH-cam video on that specifically. We haven’t made one yet!
@@pandytravels thank you! It is confusing!! I did watch a few videos and just submitted a request with David's DVC rental for a room at Aulani. I paid the fee and am waiting to hear back if my first or second choice is available. They've recently changed their cancellation policy which offers a bit more flexibility. I usually book directly with Disney but jumped on the DVC wagon lol. I hope it all works out :/
@florflor123 next stop - owning DVC points!! 😂 you’re going to have such an amazing time. We want to go back soon!
So traditional lines here don't exist? Or can I line up (for example) at the Indiana Jones ride after freely booking the Journey to the Center of the Earth and after purchasing a premier access to another ride?
You can absolutely do that. You can line up for anything without paying. The queues are just very long. When I looked at the app this past Thursday, Indiana jones for example 120 minutes and Soaring was 180.
@pandytravels Geez, need to mentally prepare for the waiting lines, then... Thanks for the reply and video!
Yes! Make a list of your must dos. Skip any “similar” rides you’ve been on before. Good luck and have the best time ever!
If I had a choice, I would rather look at more backlots than rides; however, I was there in 2019.
I agree! The backlot is amazing and it’s so cool to be able to explore them. So much movie history 🎥🎬
@@pandytravels I plan on visiting there, again, this fall. It is tentative as I will be retiring this June. I love backlots, movie/TV sets, etc. I also plan to visit, on my trip, Paramount, WB and Sony.
We did the WB studio tour and it was incredible! Have never done Paramount or Sony but would love to one day. Hope you have fun!
@@pandytravels Since 2019, Paramount added another level tour at the top and that is what I plan to take. Off this subject, sometime ride the Amtrak California Zephyr. I ride that, in summer of 2019, on my way yo California enroute to my nephew's wedding which was in Australia. I rode it from Chicago to Emeryville (San Francisco) and the views, of the west, on day 2 were fantastic. I took it based on a frd's recommendation who rode it in a prior year. I rode in a coach seat which was very cheap and the majority of other riders did the same. Amtrak has a credit card where you can earn bonus points to train travel, motels, hotels, etc. Since then, I have used that and my United Air credit card to earn travel points. Neither has an expiration date and I'm plan to use them in retirement this year.r.
@pandytravels Hit wrong key before finishing. Amtrak has different deals and I got a $100 credit on my second bill as well as a start of 20,000 bonus points. If u are interested, ck each as the deals vary.
Thanks for d awesome tips! May I ask why don't suggest u use standby pass for Fantasy springs? U mentioned use it for indiana Jones. Thanks!
There’s two types of free passes. Standby is for new attractions like the ones in Fantasy Springs. It’s a first come first serve virtual queue system. The priority pass has a few other attractions (like Indiana Jones). You can’t use priority pass on attractions in Fantasy Springs. Does that make sense?
@@pandytravels thanks! 😊
@buttlebe my pleasure!
I've been watching a lot of these, and this one seems like one of the most helpful in a "this is how it is" sort of way.
Thanks! It’s not an easy topic to cover because it’s always changing and it’s just so different from anything else. I have another video posting in the next few days answering the most asked questions & clarifying some things!
Congratulations!!!
Thank you!!
Love this. Since i was a kid i always wanted a disneyland wedding and never knew the costs until I reached out and they hit me with 30k. My fiancee and i have been together for 8 years and plan on having our 10th at disneyland, as we are not married yet but have a house and our daughter. Thank you so much for the info, super informative!!!
You’re so welcome, glad you enjoyed! Congrats on the 8 years ☺️ they are expensive weddings, but they made us feel ultra special
Omg! We are planning our first trip to Japan in April. As we skipped visiting the US Disney parks due to ridiculous lines for all the rides last year, I thought Tokyo Disney theme parks would be a good replacement. Thanks to your video we won’t waste our precious time in Japan waiting hours in Disney lines!
Hope you get to experience the parks one day! They are truly amazing. But, it’s not for everyone. I have a new video coming out on Friday where I go through the questions people ask me the most about Tokyo Disney trip. Maybe check that out when it drops! :)
Do you know if the vacation packages are still a maximum of 2 nights? We are looking to go 5 nights with 4 full days.
@amackbmack4898 yes, 2 nights, 3 days only unfortunately!
@ thank you
Tokyo Disney is very cheap (vs. Europe/US). So even if you buy Premier Access for the most popular rides, you will not spend more than in a US park.
If you only had one day, and we’re determined to do both parks, which order would you recommend? What would your itinerary be? My must do rides is honestly only Beauty and the Beast and Baymax. I don’t really care if we get on anything else, although Elsa and Anna sounds cool.
If your trip is before April 1st, 2025 I would get to DisneySea around 6am and book virtual queue for Fantasy Springs attractions once you pass through the gates (highly recommend Anna and Elsa’s!) It’s the only way to get into that land and it’s amazing. After April 1st, it’s anyone guess how it will work! Explore the park a bit and head over to Disneyland around 3pm. If there are no priority passes left, get in line for Beauty and the Beast right away in case it goes down later in the day/evening. You should be able to purchase a Baymax premier pass no problem as those don’t tend to sell out. Hope this helps!!
We always bought through Disney website and never had an issue.
Glad to hear that, it’s really horrible when your credit card gets flagged for “fraud”
The answer is NO, air Canada is crap in all classes, I gladly pay more to fly with better airlines, better on every level !
Especially now that they even charge for carry on 😩
When can i book a vacation package for October 2025 ?
It’s super confusing right now and they’re changing things weekly. On January 16, they opened up bookings until end of June, so it’s around 6 months. With that logic, you can expect October to open up in May. But please keep checking here -> reserve.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/sp/news/list/1/ This is the official Tokyo Disney news stories that includes vacation packages. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help!
@@pandytravels Thanks ...hopefully I'll catch the news update before the bookings open!
@0709Cassandra I hope so too! It’s so confusing. I would set a few reminders for yourself at different times in the month of May (maybe once per week?). October is not quite as busy so you should be OK securing :)
@@pandytravels Thanks for this tip! Wondering if being from Canada and using a visa if I will have any issues trying to book this on the website ...any advise on this ?
I used a Canadian AMEX for our hotel and it got blocked (but still went through for some odd reason). Unfortunately no tips for this because it’s the only site you can book a vacation package on and it happens regularly to North American credit cards. I wouldn’t stress too much though - demand for the vacation packages is going down and if you do get blocked, call your bank to get it lifted and then try again. Keep in mind if you get a confirmation email from Tokyo Disney you should be good to go
You two are just so adorable. I get so much joy from your wedding videos!! ( newly engaged over here. 🙌🏻)
Thank you for the kind words! And CONGRATS!!!
This video was super helpful. I am going to Japan in Mid March with my family 8 & 9 Kido whos extremely excited to cover Universal as well! After watching this, I am really worried with the lines due to the season. And if you could kindly advice on the tickets which i have already looked into in klook is a bit confusing. Do we need separate entry tickets to rides along with the 1 day pass?
Glad I could help in some way! Your one day passports (day tickets) get you into the parks and you don’t need anything additional to go on the rides. They are included. However, if you want to skip the lines then you will need to acquire additional passes once you scan into the park. I know it’s confusing but you’ll have a great time ☺️
I'm pretty patient, but 1-hour waits for simple food and 2-hour waits for attractions sounds brutal. Seems like you're just not going to experience much in a day other than waiting in queues.
Yes, you either have to buy passes for the attractions you want to do (arrive early in case they sell out), get a vacation package (expensive), or make a list of your must dos and hang them out in the morning. We did a lot of character interactions and exploring in DisneySea
Super helpful but almost makes me don’t want to go 😅
😂😂 my intention was to prepare people as much as possible, not scare them! Youll be fine!
I brought tickets via the Japanese website and had no problem. Got lucky i guess lol
Yes I think it’s a bit of luck of the draw! 😂 glad you had no issues. My card was blocked trying to book the Toy Story hotel.
My friends and I are going in the begining of March, well before blossom season but this is honestly stressing me out. We couldn't afford a vacation package or a themed hotel stay and were just going to try to explore the park but this vid makes it sound like theres almost no point. We wont have happy access, we'll be delayed by foreign credit cards and the entire booking system sounds like theres no guarantee we'll be able to do anything if we don't move fast enough ;____;
It’s definitely not an easy place to visit, but you should still try. If it helps, we stayed in Tokyo for the last part of our trip and we took the subway to Disneyland. Got there around 7am and there were lots of people but it was fine. We still got to do everything we wanted! so our entire stay wasn’t on property or with happy entry. Don’t let it dissuade you! Go go go !!
3:31 just tell us how much it is in USD bro 🇺🇸 💵
Apologies! Usually I try to put it in context. Right now, 1500-2500 yen is approximately $9.50-$16 USD.
With the amount you pay for a VIP tour these days, EVERYTHING should be incluided! There shouldnt be anything that VIP guests should miss out on or be extra paid experiences
We agree there! so pricey!
Never agaIn!!! Spent 2,500.00 plus the tour compamy purchased the economy seat for me There was nothing Premium about this!! The service was not like you talked about. This was a flight from Vancouver to Singspore, returnig from Bancock to Vancouver. The service on the return flight was non exsisting. Had a welcome drink choice of water or orange juice. No alcohol offered. There was no service again until breakfast where there was no coffee or tea offered!! Never been on a flight where the staff just disappered from one meal to the next. With the exception of the first meal served on glass the rest was exactly the same as ecomony, wooden utensils and plastic dishes! Know this, as a person who was also on the same tour, flew in economy. She said I have never seen such a lazy crew! This is highway robbery, That was expensive "service" that we got.First time going P/E and for sure the last!! Never again will Air Canada get my money for nothing!!
So sorry about your experience! Air Canada is certainly not known for their customer service unfortunately. Our crew was not great either 😔
@@pandytravels Thanks. This was my first time doing P/E with any airline. Have flown to China, South America and many, many European countries in economy. Have never experienced this lack of service before. Guess the more you pay, the less service you get!!
On Air Canada that might be true 😂 I hear good things about other airlines and their premium offerings though. I think we’re going to try British Airways business class & do a review on that in the near future!
Never agaIn!!! Spent 2,500.00 plus the tour compamy purchased the economy seat for me There was nothing Premium about this!! The service was not like you talked about. I’m so sorry you had a horrible flight! like I mentioned in the video, our crew wasn’t the most friendly either. For the cost, I think they should do better 😔
Never agaIn!!!
You were there on a weekend? Because I am going to japan in April and, after watching this, I am really worried with the lines on the sakura season! =/
We were there on a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I would mentally prepare yourself if you’re going during that time! ☺️
Thank you for your insight. I'm looking to start planning a trip come the end of September 2025. I'm looking at the vacation package as well.My question: If I want Happy Entry for both parks and costs are not an issue, what hotel would you suggest, in order of preference? Thank you in advance and Happy New Year!
We’ve only stayed at the Toy Story Hotel, but if you want happy entry to both, you may want to consider Hotel Miracosta, simply because it’s connected to DisneySea. You can actually get a theme park view. I hear really good things about this hotel ☺️
I did this vip tour in march of last year it was for two we ended up doing everything water world show and all rides.I recommend doing the tour in the morning you get to do everything in the first 7 hours of the tour me and my friend had around 3 hours to our selfs to do shopping or get the other rides done. But I do 100 percent recommend to do at least once
Glad you had a good time! We did too, though I wish the park was open later than 7pm.
@@pandytravels Someone, on a TH-cam, said that certain days are open until 8 p.m.
I was so thankful getting a reservation for Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey without the Disney hotel staying and getting there early.
Lucky! It’s an incredible attraction!
This video was super helpful, and made me decide to skip DisneySea when I go to Tokyo this year 😅
No dude, don’t miss it. It’s worth going,
Well I hope you are kidding! You’ll be fine :)
it depends when you go
It was a friggen nightmare! Makes the visit unpleasant. Met other international guests who were as frustrated as us. I’ve previously been and this new system is a nightmare. An English speaking Security person helped us navigate and purchase skip the line tickets at an additional cost per ride.
I think this is the main reason I enjoyed Tokyo Disneyland more than DisneySea. It was a bit more relaxing as there was no Fantasy Springs element and just less people overall. They’re changing Fantasy Springs entry on April 1 so let’s see if it makes things less of a nightmare!
Any money saving tips on renting the Tesla? I own a Tesla Y so I am comfortable with driving an EV.
We drive a Model Y as well! A few tips for finding the best price on a rental EV is to compare prices of all the big rental companies. If you work for a big corporation you might also get a company discount code. Finally check prices with travel wholesalers like Costco Travel to see if they have better prices. A buddy and I were recently at Universal Hollywood VIP Experience on 11/1/24. We didn’t pay $1000. We too stayed at the Hilton next door. The bar was awesome. The breakfast buffet was great as well. The lobster dinner the prior night was not worth $200 per plate. Anyways, I would stay there again due to not having to valet at Universal. Just a short walk across the walk bridge. The red carpet entrance to the VIP let me know that this was about to be an awesome experience. Our tour began @9am. Great continental type breakfast. I loved the fact that they gave us unlimited water. Mark was our tour guide. He was AWESOME!! Very knowledgeable. We had a 12 person group. No kids!! Thank goodness. The Back to the Future lot was awesome. That plaza is used for a ton of other shows and movies. Mark said that the “Clock tower” building is often used for outside courthouse scenes and high schools. We were NOT allowed to walk on the grass…because the grass wasn’t REAL grass. It was basically turf and plywood. Yup. Also experienced the Good Place lots. Around the corner, scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were shot there. Experiencing how they do flooding in subways, towns, etc was pretty kool. We got to see the prop warehouse where shows and movies order props for their filming. They do everything by hand. No computers. Straight old school paper and markers. Although, each item; tables, lamps, salt shakers, pictures, etc have bar codes that are scanned once you check out. We were disappointed that we weren’t allowed to see the wardrobe warehouse. They have over 1 million pieces of clothing and we didn’t even get a peep. The Buffett at the Moulin Rouge was top notch. Not having to wait in lines was the ultimate VIP experience. All in all a great experience. Would’ve loved to have viewed some sets, but like you said in the video, there are ALWAYS films/tv shows being filmed. The last event that we visited was the Waterworld show. VIP had their own section. Bad ass!! Great show. Great effects….film as much as you can. Especially when the plane gets shot down. Thank me later. I would do this tour again. Well worth the $400 that we paid. Thanks for your video 🤓
Thank you so much for all this info! I’m sure it will help a lot of people while they’re planning their VIP experience. Very jealous you got to see BTTF set. It was closed for us
@@pandytravels You're very welcome. as we were coming around the corner I was as giddy as a school boy. I couldn't contain myself as I immediately recognized Hill Valley townsquare. Hopefully you will get to visit that the next time around. Good luck! We look forward to future videos
I hope so too ☺️ we’ll definitely do the tour again
How or where do I get a vacation package?
Hey there - you book directly on the Tokyo Disney website -> reserve.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/sp/about/vp_01 You’ll pick the number of days you’ll be staying, the hotel you’d like to stay at, type of room, passes for attractions, and your dining reservations. Make sure you research where each restaurant is located before booking and ensure you’ll be able to make it :)
@@pandytravels thank you!!!
My pleasure!
Great video, thank you so much!! I'm spending Christmas week at Disney World right now, and this was super helpful! 💖
You’re so welcome! I hope you are having the best time ever ❤️
I fly premium economy on intercontinental flights. The additional stretch out space and not having to worry that the bin above your seat is full make the price difference worth it. Most recently flew an AC dreamliner on a 15 hour flight to Seoul. Nice to have a toilet forward of the cabin closer to you. You can let light thru the window with that little button under the window they may lock it out during takeoff and landing to comply with regs. The last trip cost $2200 return including a side trip to MNL. Return was from Narita on the older 777. MNL to Narita on ANA premium economy which includes lounge access. ANA seems to be a step above AC so want to try them maybe from YVR.
Been on ANA many times and they treat you like royalty, even in economy class! Everyone seems to be above Air Canada when it comes to premium offering to be honest. But I’m glad you enjoyed your flight! It’s worth it if you can get it for a decent price. Would not recommend anyone pay $8k for a direct flight to Japan tho! That’s how much ours would have been without points 🥹
When I fly, I choose the finest seat economy has to offer, seat 18a bulkhead window. It's worth the extra $133 Air Canada charges for a long flight.
Great tip thank you! It’s probably a lot better value than premium economy lol
After watching this, im axious to go to disneysea. 😂
Haha 😂 but now you know what to expect! The only anxious part is the arrival in the morning. Other than that, it’s all good!
Haha same I’ll be there in April
You’ll be fine!! Enjoy the day ☺️
Thank u!
Wow
I did a 9 hour flight to Europe and bid up to premium and found it wasn’t worth the cost. Seat was okay but the rest wasn’t much different. Yes the main meal was an improvement, but just an economy meal from what they used to be like.
Yeah, I agree. it’s hard to stomach the price difference for what you get. Thankfully we used points at an extremely good rate! Hopefully we’ll be able to find something similar for business class one day
Love honest unbiased review. Flying premium economy due to my bid upgrade being accepted. 10hr flight coming up so I hope I get a better experience.
I hope so too! It’s much better than being cramped in economy for sure, but it’s hard to justify the regular fare prices.
@ $340 to upgrade for 10 hr flight coming
Not too bad. You’ll enjoy the extra space during those 10 hours if nothing else!
