I listened to Hungry Lucy all the time in high school. As a trauma survivor, their music really calmed me and got me through some really rough days. Years later at 33, it still does. I'm sad they don't have any more music and seem to have disappeared. Their music still means a lot to me 🖤

I don't know what gets into people. They hear something different & like it. And then straight away expect the band to do the same thing over & over again.. like they are bound to a genre or some stupid shit. They are artists. Expressing art, outside of genre-specifics. So all of you trendwhores claiming they are "goth", "trip-hop", "emo" or what ever other dumb names you can think of.. you need to fuck off back to POP, where everything is constantly "the same".

A very interesting duo. They have great potential but they have a very fine line drawn from pop & "genre-free". If you make it too happy joy joy, short, conventional & catchy with accessible lyrics, it will sound very POP. However, their darker edgy tracks set them miles apart. If a song is in a minor key, you can go as catchy as you like! All of Björk, Portishead, Lamb, Mandalay, Fever Ray, etc most successful tracks are their most haunting ones. They become timeless. Just like this track. ;)
