How to Test & Arm the PIEPS Jetforce Airbag
Full article on mountainist.com: mountainist.com/how-to-test-and-arm-the-pieps-jetforce-airbag/
Whether you’re renting an airbag for a backcountry clinic, or want to practice with a new Jetforce pack you just bought for yourself, this is the episode for you. While this is not a replacement for a user manual (which we have linked in the original story on our site, and we highly recommend that you review), this video will show you the basic functions of the Jetforce system and has some super helpful visuals!
In this 2-part episode, you’ll get step-by-step instructions on how to:
-Arm, deploy, and repack the Jetforce so that you can practice with it
-Arm the bag before you travel into avalanche terrain and disarm it when you return to the parking lot
We also go over what additional safety gear should be in your pack at all times.
What tips do you have for training with your backcountry gear in the fall and throughout the season? Head over to mountainist.com, find this episode, and leave a comment now.

What to Wear Snowmobiling (W.I.S.E. Layering)

As a new rider, figuring out what gear you need and how everything fits together can be a challenge. Even if you rent outerwear and protective gear from mountainist.com, what you wear underneath your monosuit or jacket and bibs is even more important when it comes to keeping you warm and dry throughout the day! The goal of our new series-Wear Care-is to show you methods for cleaning your gear a...
How to Wear Snowmobile Boots + Keep Your Feet Warm
มุมมอง 7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the most common concerns I hear about from new riders is that their feet get cold. Next to your helmet and backcountry safety gear, boots are going to be one of the most important pieces of equipment you have on-and we're not talking about your fur-lined Sorels! Feet get cold when they aren't being protected by the right gear. In this case, this means wearing warm, synthetic or wool sock...

    Thanks - this was useful. I have a couple of questions about storage with these airbags. Maybe you can help. I can't work out how the helmet carrier works, nor how to use the sort of "upside-down" external pocket which has the opening at the bottom, and which is secured only by velcro?

    • @ILLAwomen
      @ILLAwomen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Matthew, this video is from a couple of years ago and while the technology is still the same, some features may have changed. I don't recall the velcro pocket you're referring to and transparently, I never used the helmet carrier as I only use the pack for snowmobiling. The flap/outside of the pack is interchangeable, so maybe you can purchase one that has a more desirable layout or different features? As for storage, I do know they have a "storage mode" that helps save the battery. It should be in your manual or you can search for it online. Hope this is somewhat helpful!

    How about trail riding and lake crossings, with temps from zero to subzero? Still go uninsulated, and layer, or maybe insulated? And with a float assist? New rider. Asking about bibs specifically. Appreciate your feedback.

    • @ILLAwomen
      @ILLAwomen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The majority of our content focuses on mountain riding. You will probably want insulation and float assist for the type of riding you'll be doing. The main reason for layering is to be able to moderate body heat. If you are trail riding the majority of the time, you'll be going at higher speeds (windchill) and will be less likely to overheat as a result of getting stuck and having to jump around on your sled a lot. I would make sure whatever you buy has a high wind-proof rating and wind specific features like lined-zippers so that wind doesn't sneak through when you're going mach 5 across the tundra :)

      @@ILLAwomen Thanks for the reply! Lots of great information to help steer me to the right decision. I've narrowed my choices down to FXR Clutch, or Fuel pants. It's just really difficult to find stock in my size anywhere. Everything seems to be sold out for the season. The coronavirus has taken an awful toll on people and businesses for the most part, but seems to have been a boon for powersports and powersports accessories, as one of the few things people can do is get out and enjoy the outdoors. MB, the soap should be diluted enough in the water that this isn't an issue, but if you find there is soap residue, I'd submerge the goggles again in fresh water, swish them around, and let them dry again. You can use your goggle bag to clean off the water spots.

      squarebag73 You can use your goggle bag or a microfiber cloth to wipe those off. Use a tiny bit of water if they’re being stubborn. Just make sure the bag is clean! Good idea to throw that in the wash once in a while.
