Just Walking, No Talking
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 ก.พ. 2015
Welcome to Just Walking, No Talking.
I love beautiful landscapes, fantastic architecture, picturesque towns, cities and villages and being by the waterside whether river, lake or sea.
I get restless doing the same thing day after day. I prefer to wake up somewhere new and explore what's on offer. So I quit my job, bought a motor home and embarked on a new life of travel and film making. I spend my time poking around coastal towns and resorts, cities, market towns and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
If you have ever considered either of these paths perhaps you will enjoy my content. I hope so anyway.
Enjoy first person walking tours of many of the places I have visited. Historical facts and interesting stories with the ambient sound of the environment doing the talking. Later videos are recorded in "Binaural Audio". This allows viewers an intense sensory experience if they don a set of headphones. It really is the next best thing to actually being there yourself.

On my travels I stumbled across this 4500 year old sport - That I bet you've never even heard of...
Les Joutes Raphaeloises...A very bizarre sport believed to be 4500 years old and still going strong. Regardless whether you are a sports fan, I think you would find it hard not to enjoy this spectacle :)
Amazingly, the French use it as a method of keeping the less fortunate, youths particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds on the straight and narrow. The theory is that if encouraged into a "competitive discipline" with stringent rules that they will not feel the need to be competetive in other less desirable ways. There are around 220 club members under the age of 25 in St Raphael but that must equate to thousands across the huge geographical area which still maintain this sport today.
I discovered it quite by accident on my travels. I spent 3 months enjoying the summer in "The French Riviera" and made a series of videos on the wonderful towns, villages and coastal resorts it offers. You can see a full list of the featured places here:

I think this is how Seaside towns should be, untouched by Global chains of coffee and fast food etc.
Thanks for watching my video. I really couldn't agree more. There were some chains there, typically outdoor type clothing stores that you tend to find in coastal resorts around the UK. In addition there was "The three Magpies" bakery which is a chain but only (I think) local to Suffolk. What I was most pleased to see was that the Old Butchers and Grocers were still going strong despite the Tesco Express being almost right next to them. Thanks again for watching and also for getting involved by leaving a comment. I really appreciate that. Don't forget to like and subscribe! All the best

Chemtrails are unmistakable. Jets normally emit a contrail: no very long and disappears. A chemtrail is full of cancer causing chemicals that they have been spraying on us for a decade! It comes out like a contract from the plane, but is very long, as long as the flight path, does not disappear, but looks compact, and becomes a long billows out trail. They criss cross the USA daily!!
And no chemtrails!!
Thanks for watching Karen. I am a little confused though. Can you tell me what you mean by chemtrails? Thanks
Amazingly, by complete coincidence I was just watching a channel called "What in the world?", which is following a man who is canoeing single handed across Canada. I could not believe it when he started talking about "Chemtrails". Immediately I realized that in the USA you have a different term for it than what we commonly call them here in the UK. Here they are usually referred to as "Contrails". Thanks for your comment. I love it whenever I learn something new. All the best!!!
It makes me think of a song from long time ago. "All things bright and beautiful, all things great and small, all things wise and wonderful, OUR FATHER made them all."

A beautiful desolate place except for dinner?
@@belindacole71 Hi Belinda. This area of France can sometimes seem a little like that but it's often due to the fact due to the heat and much like the Spanish (Siesta), many businesses close between 1pm and 4:30pm. The staff go home, eat with their families and apend some quality time. Then they return to work when it's cooled down and at that point the places usually come back to life.
Please , please , please let us know about the grocery stores, the cafes, are they open in the winter, etc. Many of us here in France consider moving but we need to know these things. It would really make this interesting.
Hi Belinda, Thanks for watching my video. I know that at least some of the restaurants are open all year round but I would imagine some of them close. I stayed at a truly wonderful campsite near Frejus on two separate occasions during the tour and got to know the owner quite well. There isn't anywhere near as much tourism during the winter months so many of the businesses close during this period and staff often work somewhere else, usually more inland till the tourist season starts again the following year. In Gassin though there will be grocers etc. open all year as there are enough people living in the village to sustain them. As I mentioned in the film, it isn't very far from Saint Tropez and there are also quite a lot of places that stay open all year round there. Thanks for taking an interest and for your comments. It really helps a small channel like mine to grow. All the best!
Nice!

TНАNKS A LOT FOR YOR WORK!!
Thank you for being an avid watcher. I really appreciate you. If you want to help my channel grow it would help me a great deal if you would hit the "Like" button Thanks again. Chat soon. I am working on the first UK video I shot after returning from France. It was hard to leave such beautiful locations and a fantastic climate. Returning I struggled to find inspiration a bit. It was so easy to find fantastic places to film in The French Riviera and I knew I was going to have to work hard to match it. I also had to lose the Motorhome for a while, as it needed to go into the garage to have work done. That's never a good thing for me. It is a very expensive thing to maintain. The specialists who work on them are £70 per hour plus vat. On top of that...When it goes for repairs I become homeless, so I have to live in hotels until the work is complete. There was one area in the UK that I thought might provide enough opportunities and it would be a very difficult place to take the motorhome, so I headed down to the southwest in Beep Beep (That is the little car I tow behind me) hoping to squeeze out the last bit of the summer before the bad weather hits this little Island. I spent about two weeks in total and drove over a thousand miles before returning to the Snail. That's what we call the motorhome because it is very slow, hahahha and it travel's with it's home on it's back. Thanks again for watching. Cheers!

Where this place
Hi. Thanks for watching my video. It was filmed in Cotignac. The whole series focusing on the "Cote D'Azur" which is commonly known as "The French Riviera". This region has no officially recognized boundaries but in general it is the area from around Marseilles to Menton, which is on the border of Italy. The area covers the whole coast but also inland a considerable distance. Thanks for taking an interest. If you liked looking around there...don't forget to hit the like button. All the best!
Just a reminder that it’s illegal to film people going about their daily life and posting on line in France, especially children, you basically need written consent from everyone.
Thanks for the warning. I did some research before traveling there for this tour and I found references stating exactly what you've told me. However I also found lot's of other conflicting information. When I looked into it further I came to the conclusion that it is like many other places. A degree of interpretation and common sense is necessary. I found this same situation in the UK. The French Government definitely place a higher value on peoples privacy than we do. Their drone laws are very strict. I was unable to fly it except in totally remote locations most of the time I was there which was a shame.
OK, if this is Cambridge, where's my alma mater, HARVARD?

At least one of us got to see France. Our great gram was French. She was a orphan I think, but a relative came to our house n related to us. We have lots of family across Europe. Wasn’t there a lady who had so many husbands? NO! Bonaparte had a lotta wives to have all his children related n married into wealthy Heirs. Must be a lotta retarded family cause of their genetic connection. I wonder if gramp Silva spoke French. Gramma Annie knew her mother in law.

Is this in Europe? You been there?
Hi Patricia. Thank you for watching my video and taking an interest in it. Yes it is in Europe. The series was shot during a 3 month filming tour of a region known as the "Cote D'Azur" in South Eastern France. It is also known as "The French Riviera". There are so many totally charming and beautiful towns, cities, villages and coastal resorts in this part of the world that I decided to make a special trip that would allow me to share them with all of you

Thanks for watching my video Sherril. If you've visited some of the other beautiful towns and villages in the area I'd be interested to hear about your experience. I think Cotignac is well worthy of the title "France's Most Beautiful Village" but there are so many to choose from, it must be a really hard decision for the judges. What was your favourite town or village when you visited the area?
It would be interesting to see inside of a typical home.
Wow, so quaint! Hope you can tour a greek isle sometime. The theatre brought visions of singers. THANK YOU!
Hi Karen. Thanks for watching my video. It was a brilliant place to lose yourself for a day. Interesting idea about going inside one of these traditional properties to discover how they live. I haven't been to mainland Greece yet or any of the islands but I will be going there at some stage. I have been restricted to 90 days in Europe followed by 90 days out which was a bit limiting, but I have solved that problem now. I have been back in the UK since early August but am about to start planning my next itinerary. I have no idea where it will take me but I should have access to many more wonderful places and I will be able to take more time on each location. Thanks again for taking an interest. It really helps a tiny channel like mine to grow.
New subscriber here from phoenix az i was just thinking how awesome it would be to live in France or England or even the Netherlands ... Great video peace
Thanks Carl, I really appreciate your feedback. Great to hear from you.
Are those buildings as old as the history? Pmgy
Hi. Thanks for watching the video and taking an interest. The simple answer is no. Wikipedia states that St Remy has been inhabited since Prehistory. It isn't clear exactly when that means because when that term is used it refers to the point at which written records appeared in that location, which obviously varies from place to place. I have seen references indicating that it was inhabited in 2500BC. I did also find other information stating that it was founded in 500BC by the Romans. Originally it was believed to have been called Glanum. A few miles away you can visit the Roman Ruins which are still called Glanum. It is believed that the city was mostly destroyed during barbarian invasions but flourished again in The Middle Ages. As a result there are still plenty of buildings in the town from the 14th and 15th centuries. So as you can see, it's all a bit murky.😄 I couldn't even really pinpoint the age of the average property there since I don't really have a lot of experience with French Architecture. If it had to guess based on my experience working in the CIvil Engineering and Construction industries I would suggest most of them are 2-300 years old. What do you think? Any idea or opinions about this yourself?
