@@MochaManGaming I am in Platinum too most of the time (even though I sometimes get a peak of Dia 1). People normally do scout in Plat. Sometimes they are committed to rushing no matter what and thus neglect to do it, but they know enough of setting up a decent econ that if they decide to feudal rush, they manage to have a larger army than an opponent who gathered 1200f 600g and then invested another lot of vill seconds to build a landmark before making any military. That is the key thing here: You made all those investments and still had the same army size as he did! With what you had you could have fought him even if you had still been in Feudal! What you describe is something I'd rather associate with low to medium gold.

@@PrivatePrivateer I totally understand where you are coming from and I agree with you that his plan was poorly executed no matter how you look at it. However, he was in fact plat when we played. I felt a lot of pressure in that game and nearly lost it. The reason I made the video is not because I thought I played extremely well, but because it highlights that unpredictable things happen at the lower levels of play and gold and platinum players do not always properly adjust because we don't know how. That's why I nearly lost a game that wasn't even close. Not all games I post are like that :)

@rengoku2608 6 starting vills to sheep, build a house Rally 7th vill to sheep Rally to gold until 3, build a mining camp Rally to sheep until age up completes, 5 sheep vills to age up 5 age up vills to wood, and rally to gold until 6 Rally to wood until 10 Rally to food until 20+ Build 2 archery ranges and blacksmith blacksmith Get all eco upgrades first, then arrow defence, and then siege works if they get a second tc but all other military upgrades if they don't Take 5 vills off wood and move to gold if you want to go castle, usually around 20 mins

Yeah it might have been. Japanese doesn't tend to build a lot of siege because of how strong their infantry are at raiding but that definitely changes once you see castles coming up. A few rams may have been effective at slowing down his production and opening up the front side of his base

@andytheindividual3862 It's definitely a good idea to protect your gold, but I actually think it's better to understand why you are placing a tower and what you are defending against rather than having a rule to always place a tower. In some matchups, like in the mirror, when you are racing to castle it can cost you several relics if you place a single tower because they get to castle first and secure the map with knights while you're trying to get the last bit of resources to age up. I'm going to make a guide on this soon

I will make a guide for them in the future but it might be a little while. I have a few other guides on my list before I get to the Mongols

@michaelv7394 Yes, absolutely! Byz excels at feudal agression alongside English. Once in castle you can let English mass longbows and then you mass limitanei and varangian guards as a front line and then add in crazy good siege through Foreign Engineering Company in Imperial. Fast Castle into Cataphracts is also really strong with English in 2v2

@dominikkoudelka4548 Glad you liked it! I make it look easy because it really is easy once you get past that unfamiliar feeling of a new civ. I default to this build but switch to fast castle when the opponent is going for a fast castle as well. I probably play this build 60-70% of the time. I don't play 2tc often as Byz because their eco and military on 1 tc is very strong and rivals other civs on 2 tc for the first 15 mins of the game so it's just not necessary and it's much easier to play this way.

It's not a great idea for the Japanese. They are weaker in feudal than other civs so you typical want to get to castle as fast as possible and being behind by 1 villager hurts them. If you aren't consistently getting the sheep you need to hit castle and produce units then consider starting the game by building a house on berries and sending all starting vills to berries and come back to sheep after you gather the berries up. This will be 15-20 secs slower castle time but will be safe and consistent as well.

@michaelv7394 thank you. I like to get up to 4 or 5 knights and then get chivalry when 1 or 2 of them get low. I don't bother getting it that early. I prefer Guild Hall because its better off the game goes long. You can use Guild Hall on food and once you have 2000 food in it transition right into a free age up to imperial. Royal Institute is great if you plan on ending the game in castle but it's completely obsolete if the game goes to imperial because the university gives you all pf the same upgrades.

@michaelv7394 yes, pro scouts is great on French. Get up 4 or 5 knights, which is how many you need to dive the tc and kill 3-4 villagers at the cost of no more than 1 knight, and then get pro scouts and get up 2 or 3 scouts. I dont play JD myself but I play a lot of French + English 2v2s and its very strong. French is favored in 2v2s over JD from the research I have done.

@@dominikkoudelka4548 you have to manually delete your queued units. If you select your military building and then press N it will delete 1 unit and B will delete all units that are queued

You always want to have the corresponding bannerman when you are massing units with Japanese. If you build a lot of archers try not to fight without the archer bannerman, same goes for samurai and mounted samurai. The Japanese units are balanced around the damage buff that comes with them so your army will be noticeably weaker without the right bannerman.

@michaelv7394 Unfortunately, no. Hippodrome is great when you want to play for a feudal all-in because it saves the wood cost of a stable and buffs your horseman. I like it against English, Malian, and potentially Abbasid. But the longterm value of the grand winery and all the additional olive oil it generates is just too safe in a 20+ minute game to pass up. Hippodrome is like a supercar that goes really fast but burns through gas and tires, and grand winery is like a hybrid car that might not go as fast but you can comfortably drive across the country in.

I also play 2 tc French. It's especially good against opponents that go 2tc themselves. It can be difficult to manage the macro of 2 town centers though. My goal for this guide was to provide people with a very consistent and effective aggressive build. The fast aggression you can put out with only 1 tc is noticeably more than when you go 2 tc, allowing you to finish games more quickly, it just doesn't scale into an endgame quite as well. I can put together a 2tc build as well since it looks like that's what people want. As for chamber of commerce, I only play it in team games. I personally find it too difficult to defend the trade in 1v1s since it takes additional time to get some knights up and you have to be very proactive about securing space. I know it could be good in certain matchups but it's probably just a skill issue haha
