Thanks for taking us along with you for this journey! It really opened my eyes to what you can do with a sock machine. And I am so impressed with how much your skills grew in this experience!
This series was a lot of fun! Made my own sock machine feel much more approachable, and i made 2 pairs of socks for last minute christmas presents (just basic vanilla socks, but still!) And now that there's no time crunch to worry about, I've started the Stardew Valley sock pattern but adapting it for the csm. It's going well and I'm having a lot of fun, so thank you!
Hello! Have you released this pattern? I looked and couldn’t find it. No rush or worries tho. Just wanted to support if you had :)
Such cute socks!! 🧦
can u link the pattern u used for the houndstooth sock? it looks so good, i wanna make one!!!
Amazing! That scrappy houndstooth is spectacular!
The scrap-yarn sock is so beautiful omg!
I got you on my for-you page and i loved this video. I also did a lot of socks by hand and i am wondering which kind of knitting machine you are using?:)
I love this whole series!! I think I’ve watched every one so far 😂 I know this isn’t intended as a product review but I love seeing you work through the machine and seeing how it works, and it has made it very tempting to go buy one now. This is the first time I’ve seen someone make so many different sock types on a sock machine.
Very cute socks!
❤❤ i like this pair. Beautiful soft colours
I love the patterning, I didn't realise you could knit Fair Isle designs on a sock machine like that. The sock would make a fun alternative to a Christmas stocking!
The houndstooth pattern is actually really cool looking. Congrats on getting a ribbed cuff!! 🥳
Yeah for you.
Hi! Fellow Dean and Bean CSM owner here. I, too, have had insane amounts of trouble with the ribber. I think there are some design flaws with the ribber setup that make it impossible to consistently produce ribbing. I’ve been meaning to spend more time with the ribbing setup to figure out where things are going wrong in the design but it gets me so frustrated every time that I quit. So - I feel your pain. Loving your series, though! Gets me excited to get back to cranking out socks more regularly in 2025.
I would not mind at all watching you make second socks. Perhaps its also easier for you to make content that way? You don't have to do something new everyday 😊😊
I know the goal is to have a fun new sock every day of sockmas but honestly, it might be fun to have a day where you make as many “2nd socks” as you can. Just a thought 😊
Hi Eliza. Well done! I think it turned out beautifully. I wish you wouldn't look for faults in everything you make. You are doing brilliantly. 🩷🩷
Such a cute idea! It looks like you're cranking "flat" back and forth to knit the i cords, is there something I'm missing to complete the full loop? (vs making skinny stockinette roll strips?) I hope this makes sense!
The bow garland is sooooo cute! And the squiggly sock looks amazing!
Wow! All kinds of amazingness in this episode!
I love the cobalt blue and white scarf!!! What a beautiful color combination !!🤩
What do you do for work? Do you have your own business?
Yeah!!! Just in time to settle down and watch. I m becoming obsessed with your socks!
I just yesterday discovered your channel and have already watched all sockmas videos. They are so realistic and a delight to watch!
This was really interesting! Thanks for sharing how you trouble-shot the issues you were facing. :)
I'm absolutely LO-VING the two sweaters you're knitting 😍 Beautiful!
One idea if putting the rib attachement on mid-project is becoming too scary: finish your second colorwork sock with rows of contrasting waste yarn at the cuff, put it aside for later, then attempt making two tubes of ribbing in one go (two tubes separated by contrasting yarn). You can try and re-try the ribbing until satisfied and without the fear of messing up your colorwork portion :)
That’s a great idea!
Don't be too hard on yourself, you've been really learning a lot! For instance: how to set up the machine and start a sock with the bonnet, how to move the weights to not drop stitches, how to make a heel and toe on the CSM, how to do a kitchener stitch, how to adapt the tension of the stockinette part to your liking, how to manage multiple yarn on the machine for stripes and checker boards... These are all achievements you should remember :) And in only 10 days!!
Thanks for the sock update! With your last sock, I guess you could pick up stitches with normal knitting needles and finish it off by hand knitting? I think some people just knit tubes with the machine and then add in the details by hand. Still frustrating that the ribbing attachment is so hard to use!
I was wondering that, too? It should be pretty easy to just slide in normal needles and finish it by hand right?
I appreciate the transparency of you putting the frustrating part of the learning process in these videos, it’s always a good reminder that learning a new craft and skill takes time. I love seeing your creativity and desire to learn new things!
One idea for your sockmas series: how about a toe-up sock in rib with an afterthought heel? Once you master the rib making and you're certain your setup works and you've fixed your rib issue :) Which you will! Don't loose hope!
I don't have a CSM at home but a flat bed machine, and I wonder if your rib needles being so close to the stockinette ones is not the source of all your issues with the rib portion... Is there any way at all to tighten the rib needles in place so they fall perfectly between the stockinette needles? In any case, practicing with the rib attachment and playing around with the set up sounds like a good idea to master the rib making process. Stay strong! I'm convinced you'll make it happen!!
If you really like the way the sock looks why not just take it off the machine and hand knit the rib? It could be separate from the series as well, just so you can keep the socks and actually wear them.
I think I’ll do that! :)
It’s ok! You’re still learning! Thanks for sharing your creativity with us. I love seeing your ideas grow.
Yay! Glad you had a win today 😊
“Welcome to day 9 of my sock mysteries”
the scarf is sooo cute!
Love the colours!
That’s pretty epic Eliza.
The color work turned out so cute! Hell yeah 👍🏼
I always hate when people say, "Oh, I don't have the patience," for knit and crochet, but watching you do this definitely makes me think i don't have the patience 😂 I would have thrown the machine after the first lost sock. Really enjoying watching you do this, though!
oh man that is so painful to have to redo all that work. is there some way you can put a lifeline in before you start the heel in case that happens again? then if the heel gets weird, you can rip back to the lifeline and rehang the stitches. i dont have a csm so i have no idea if thats possible, but just a thought!
If you want a tighter fit at the same tension as your last sock try mock rib.
There is a knitter on U-tube doing a sock machine socks in her Vlogmas. Her channel is Rachel is Knitting. Perhaps watching some of hers would be helpful. Best of luck with this endeavor.
Thank you for attempting this sockmas series! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress every day :) If you want to hide the defect on your rib portion and hide the unevenness in the rib row count, your could consider folding the cuff inwards and stiching it folded? So the same count of rib rows appear outside of both cuffs? That is, if you want to even fix it, leaving it so won't matter for the functionality of the sock ;) Well done figuring out the sock machine and rib attachment!
I want one of these so so badly!
Thanks for sharing its so fun to see the CSM in action!!!! And Im glad you're posting videos again since I've been on a sock knitting frenzy lately. Love form the Netherlands 😊
I’m so glad you’re doing this, I can live vicariously through you!
