What is chronic pain? Why does it become "chronic"? It's not "all in our heads", but the causes do involve many parts of our nervous system. In this five-minute video, I provide a brief tour through some of the key sites in the world of chronic pain. Software: Vector animations done in Synfig Studio. Some vector assets created in Inkscape. Bitmap background paintings in Krita.

    Hello, How we can know which volume we must input in Z Depth? Why 5? This is depend to somethisng?

    • @MedEdAnimation
      @MedEdAnimation ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I just looked back at what I said and see how that was vague. For your object to move behind another object, it will have to have a Z depth GREATER than the other. This is because higher Z depth means further from the viewer's face, and lower (and negative) z depths mean closer to the viewer's face. In this video I wanted the ghost to go behind the brain. If you look on the right at my layers, the "lewy body brain" has a Z depth of 3.0000 written next to it. This means that as long as my ghost group obtains a Z depth greater than 3, it will show up as behind. I picked 5 simply because I just wanted a high number. I could have picked 100 and it would have had the same effect. It also would have had the same effect if I did 3.001 , because this is still slightly greater than the brain's Z depth of 3.0. Of note, I was able to be particularly lazy about this because I was using the "Constant" waypoint type, meaning that it was a sudden switch from original Z depth to Z depth of 5. If I were having something gradually change Z depth, such as to gradually pass in front or behind of multiple other objects/layers, then I would have had to be more careful. Hope this helps and doesn't muddy things further!

    This video was clear and helpful, but somewhere along the line my bone-filled drawing went awry. I created my drawing in Sketchbook, saved as a .png, then imported into Synfig. I scaled his surrounding area to give him enough leeway to move. Then I diligently filled him with bones with accurate connections, then I pulled the pink circles out. It all looked good like your animation. I continued to follow the directions set forth. But, once I shut off the pink circles and moved the blue circles, his outline distorted. What did I do wrong, and how do I correct this? I can't figure out what I did wrong because I'm a beginner and my bag of diagnosis tools is so limited. Thank you.

    Hey! Thank you for uploading! I am a big proponent of DIY and for that reason I really like free and open-source software, so this tutorial really helped! I taught myself GIMP and Inkscape but I find that converting what I know from Inkscape into Synfig is much more difficult than converting what I learned in GiMP to Inkscape. I really like to make scrappy and scratchy doodles that have pretty amorphous shapes and I would love to make them seem to "grow" over time. I really like how you use distortion to utilize the doodles you already have but I was hoping have more of a untangling effect-- as if the audience were watching my doodle be made. I find it difficult to doodle within Synfig so I have resorted to exporting a bunch of pngs to put into a switch file, but it does not seem as fluid

    I have an issue with the skeleton. After drawing the skeleton, I clicked on [Skeleton Deformation]. However, instead of keeping the skeletal structure, the skeletal points began arranging into a horizontal line. Do you by any chance know how to fix this? I would appreciate if you reply back. Thank you.

    • @MedEdAnimation
      @MedEdAnimation 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure - to confirm, you add the skeleton deformation layer under new layer--> distortions... then you make your skeleton... And then I think what you're saying is that now when you click the check box to un-hide the skeleton deformation layer, everything gets stretched into a weird line. When that happens, you just right click on the skeleton deformation layer, and choose "Reset Pose" and that should do it!

    • @MedEdAnimation
      @MedEdAnimation 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there so sorry for the delayed reply - not sure how I missed this. Sounds like you're doing important work and so I definitely hope you succeed! Definitely check out my synfig tutorial playlist as a starting point. That should cover a lot of it. But you raise a good point - I should make a future tutorial about how to line up animation with live video like this - I will keep that in mind for sure. For this one I can briefly say the newer versions of synfig do let you drag and drop video files, gif's etc right into your synfig file (though this will slow down your system a bit...) - so consider making a much smaller lower resolution copy of your live video to put in synfig, and then just replace with the good version at the end once everything is all rendered. alternatively, you may be able to go by just audio - synfig lets you drop audio files into your project, and also let's you drop in a file on the timeline at the bottom so you can see the wave form of the audio, thereby allowing you to use those as cues of where to put your keyframes, etc. Good luck!
