      Thank you ! We were in Tromsø during the last week of February. I think daytime is too short in January, even at the end of the month. The last week of February and the 2 first ones of March are, in my opinion, the best ones : daytime is long enough for visiting and the weather good enough to enjoy the northern lights ! If you wanna see more of our travels in Norway, let’s watch our other videos 😉 !

    Contrary to popular belief, Europeans (not him) friom a few earlier centuries never liked to live in frigid places all year long, and years in the northern reaches of the geographical Inuit areas of their countries where it's forever frigid and icy almost all the time. Only Eskimos / Inuits liked such places of those three countries and Imperial Russia all year long and all around the north pole actually from just north of the Arctic Circle. . During the time of Peter the Great, North Sweden and North Norway and North Finland exported or deported all their Inuit Eskimo populations living there 300 years ago or so, living around the Arctic Circle to Imperial Russia and north Russia and Siberian Russia, in exchange for money paid to Imperial Russia. This was how Sweden the other two countries got rid of their Inuit populations and Eskimo populations about 300 years ago, in exchange for money. They were exported to Imperial Russia in exchange for money. The Eskimos were replaced by whites with a Nomadic lifestyle in North sweden and Norway and North Finland in places closer to the North Pole. I forgot the name of that ethnic group, like Sami white Inuits or white Eskimos, which had a similar lifestyle to Inuits. Like Inuits, the Sami white tribes likes fish and reindeer meat. All Inuits / Eskimos of North Sweden and North Finland and north Norway were deported to Imperial Russia in exchange for money paid to Imperial Russia about 300 years ago.

      @@vivaldi06 so inspirational 😍 I love that concept! Your film definitely looks very cinematic 👌 Do you know how far your shutter speed was in that white snow? 🥰

    • @vivaldi06
      @vivaldi06 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I don't remember what the shutter speed was (but I might be able to tell you by looking at my rush, in a few days). That said, shooting in c-log3 (800 ISO) with an overexposure of 1 stop one third, I seem to remember that the speeds were always quite high... The only two parameters I always controlled when shooting were the ISO and aperture, in order to control my depth of field and the look of my images. To be more precise, the weather conditions (icy wind, snow, icy ground, etc.) were sometimes difficult and I knew that I wouldn't be able to integrate too many parameters anyway : so, I used the automatisms !

    Very enjoyable, driven all over Norway but in June , ( no snow ) Just a small point .. I feel the overuse of coloured filters spoils the clear and well taken video . Used only in dramatic scenes sparingly and desaturated a little would have looked more realistic … no offence … just one photographer to another …😉 Well done

    this is great. how long did the aurora last?

    • @vivaldi06
      @vivaldi06 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They last for long minutes, appearing in one place in the sky, slowly fading, then appearing again in another place in the sky. In fact, the most annoying thing to observe them are of course the clouds : we had an evening where they were very important but we could only see small parts of them between the clouds… In Svalbard, they were huge but the blizzard was unbearable, causing the tripods of the cameras to fall… In short, the phenomenon is not at all exceptional, one might even say banal, but on the other hand you need a little luck to observe it properly ! Note that solar activity was at the lowest of its 11-years cycle in 2020 and that in 2022 we have already been able to observe a clear increase (increasing phase of the cycle).

      @vivaldi06 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there is a particular peak during the winter, but I do know that late February and March are good times to see the Northern Lights. If we go to the Arctic region in February and not at Christmas, it is because from mid-February the length of the day allows interesting daytime excursions and, for their part, the nights are quite long and start quite early for easy to see the aurora borealis (we’ve often seen beautiful auroras à 9 pm). Regarding your last question, here are the auroras we’ve seen at the extreme north of Tromsø island : th-cam.com/video/pQj8MQ1dGfs/w-d-xo.html.
