Sampling Vinyl & Making A Beat On The MPC 500
Hey peeps,
This video will cover making a beat from sampling vinyl into the MPC 500.
Sometimes the method is pretty straight forward. Other times it takes a little more trial and error depending on the sample and type of beat you want to make.
I am going through a little cold and with work and all this beat took me 3 days to finish but it’s all part of the art.
Here is the deep dive, I hope you enjoy it!
Peace ✌️

Great video Phil in Da Blank. Your videos on the 500 have always been inspiring. I hope you continue to do more. I love my MPC500 but unfortunately it's been getting more faulty and now it's not usable anymore. I've had it since it was released in 2006. If I see another one come up in the secondhand stores when I have the money spare I will definitely get one because I'm used to the old school workflow and I love it. The limitations don't matter to me. Using Reason or Maschine might be faster but it is more satisfying for me to use the 500 and get a sound that works when matched with old school classic productions.

This is a great video. I like how well you covered the features of the 500. And express what you found as limitations and how you worked around it. Being an older producer myself, I’ve been working for years and that is literally how we function in the late 90s early 2000 you worked around the limitation. I considered purchasing one of these myself, but then opted to buy the 1000 to add a battery mod kit to it, giving me six hours of time with it. I covered it on my channel. Does anyone know how to initialize a performance on the CS2x (without using the software)?

3:10 that is because only the mpc live II can use "non-destructive chopping" I believe but not the mpc 500. It´s so funny you show something here which only few people will be interested in and do, well I am one of them. Thanks for all the explaining!

Hi all, I am newbie and just got this model (used without SDRam DIMM), then I installed the SDRam 128Mb PC133 but the messages display on screen that ''Wrong type of DIMM, turn off and try correct one''. Any of You have experience about this trouble let me know please. Thank you.

Can it trigger midi sound modules I already have? can you write in dynamics? quiet soft parts, played harder, will it get louder, or do you have to edit that in? thank you.

Its main use is to trigger and connect to sound modules. There are a few features stored in there that you can input "crescendos" to make it louder for instance the same with the quieter parts you can put in.
