    I heard about those problems. So I got Hexamid solo that has no bathtub just mesh underneath. I use window foil as groundsheet. I don’t slide at all. I’ve done close to 1k km and I love this setup. Got only wet once in a strong storm but except that I stay dry in it. Actually I got another one free from Zpacks as there was problem with first one. I managed to fix first one so have two. First one to abuse and second as a backup when first one designates one day. I tried tarp camping but the bug protection, snake, scorpion protection when hiking warm places plus wind resistance is amazing with tent. Also I got it in burned orange that is so much better than the horrible green dyneema that they also offer. I got mine during Black Friday a couple years ago when they were much cheaper and it traveled in my friend’s luggage so no extra cost at customs. I’m in love with my Hexamid.

    • @BelgianHikers

      Interesting, first time I hear about a tent like this without the bathtub! You're not worried about the mesh tearing? I looked for it on the Zpacks website but it seems they're discontinued?

    • @ReadyToDanceAcademy

      @@BelgianHikersYes, it was disconnected about 2years ago. The mesh was super strong and tested it even on sharp rocks, and no holes yet. I had to replace my ground sheet for it many times as this polycryo window foil is strong but wears out after maybe 3 weeks of hiking. The other company makes something similar and even lighter. Gossamer gear DCF Whisper. The only difference is that mine is bigger plus the mesh goes around on the bottom. Having said that the price is crazy. I payed like $100 less for bigger tent but this one is lighter for sure. Maybe if spray the mesh with permethrin then it would create bug free space for the ultra ultra light hiking.

    What an amazing channel. So many amazing videos! I’m so surprise that not so many views compared to other similar. I’ve watched like 10 videos in a row, as the videos are so interesting and production quality is amazing! Anyway, I had this tent in grey and later in brown that disappeared better in the forest. Having said that after switching to dyneema tent I would never go back to silnylon tent. Every morning it’s flat doesn’t matter how much I tensed the lines. Also every morning I was struggling with wet tent and when it’s time to sleep you still have wet tent. Dyneema tent dries in no time. Wipe it with the wind and all water droplets just go away. Also it’s dyneema tent is almost half the weight of this tent. My quality of hiking improved dramatically after the upgrade to dyneema tent and I will never look back.

    • @BelgianHikers

      Thanks man! There's no question that dyneema is a better fabric for these kinds of tents, but you either have to hike a LOT or have to have deep pockets to afford one. So I'm glad more affordable tents like the Lanshan exist...

    • @ReadyToDanceAcademy

      @@BelgianHikersYes, you are right. My lanschen allowed me to start my ultra light hiking plus I could test if I like it or not. I loved my weekend hikes with it plus my first attempts at 100km trails. When I finally started doing 500Km+ trails then I needed something lighter. To start it’s a perfect tent.

    I'm still suffering from PTSD dealing with the bathtub floor accidentally being pushed out past the roofline and water coming usning my Duplex and Triplex. As a solution I purchased the Tarptent Dipole 2 LI which weighs just under 2 lbs including 8 stakes and extra guy lines and could not be happier. Happily found out it performs extremely well in high winds fully staked out and has an incredible amount of interior vertical wall space. I am 74" tall, and believe a person 6'5" would fit just fine. The Dipole is also forgiving on uneven ground once you have figured out how to pitch correctly - and even if you end up pushing the sidewall or end walls out with your sleeping bag you are still protected from the rain.

      @ it’s easy to be a gear junkie. It’s harder to actually learn the skills of tarp configuration, set up and optimization for weather and terrain. Altaplex is like Tarps for Dummies. Not really a tarp, not really a tent. The worst of both worlds. With a fast deploy ridgeline, i get better protection from rain, faster, easier and safer. With so much coverage underneath, plenty of room for basketball player height men. And condensation isn’t a problem b/c you get optimal ventilation. You complain the whole video about problems with the Altaplex that can all be solved with a tarp. And it’s lighter and cheaper. But nobody is out there advertising to you to buy a tarp b/c it’s a commodity product that lots of people just make themselves. There’s dyneema and now ULTRA TNT tarps. Super lightweight, water resistant, and you get no condensation to worry about and way better coverage in extreme wind and rain. That altaplex will get knocked over in tough conditions. Not my tarp. Just pitch it low and wide. Read Jardine. Yeah, lots of ways to be a man, but only way to be a great hiker, and Jardine was the best.

    well grounded tips. I would also say, when charging from a power bank overnight, don’t leave it plugged in when fully charged, the trickle charging afterwards seems to be a big drain. Just charge to about 80% then unplug the power bank, seems to be most efficient. PS: for solar, you need larger panels to be useful, at least a 15w rating to charge reasonably, I would carry 20w rated on the back of my pack to fully charge a nitecore sized power bank. However because these panels are heavier, the weight saving vs carrying a pre-charged power bank is only starts to become worth after days or so off grid- my experience (north sweden). As batteries have become lighter, this is usually the best option and is not weather dependent.

    Glad you brought up the negatives you came across. Sick and tired of reviews that mostly hype up the positives. Thanks, buddy!

      Yeah, for some reason that's typical of ebike reviews. They always seem to be the 'best ever'.

    The reason for the chin at the bottom is because it has holes to loop Peak Design straps to it. Not for extra protection.

    I have it, in my opinion it is a GREAT starter tent. Its the perfect first tent for anyone trying to get in to camping. Its cheap, light and relatively waterproof. I have since upgraded to a MSR Elixir 2 because i cant deal with my shit being outside and not having any space inside.

    How strict in your experience do you need to comply with the max carrying weight of 12kg

      I didn't know there was a max carrying weight and have gone slightly over (about 15kg including water). Can't say that I've noticed it too much. But it's true that if you're going to carry heavier loads, at a certain point an ultralight pack is going to start working against you.

    Love my PR500. I live in the UK and they're not available here because of the carabineer issue 😏 I was fortunate enough to get mine from eBay from someone who'd brought one back from Europe. I've done a long cycle and paddle trip with it and it moves a lot better with the weight of the bike on the front. I've also done some gentle whitewater with it and it's fun. I've got 3 packrafts. This one, an Aquaglide Expedition 85 which I also love and a Biluta. The latter I didn't like so much until I started using it as my sacrificial craft - I've stabbed holes in it several times in order to test different quick fix repair tapes. It's taken a lot of abuse and is still going strong. For me packrafts are expensive play boats. They're great fun on the water and like you say allow you to do things you can't necessarily do with a standard inflatable kayak. I've also got an Aquaglide Cirrus and more recently the Aqua Marina Halve - both ultralight TPU full size kayaks. Both a lot of fun with their lightweight being a boon. Thanks for your comparison between the 2 Itiwit models - great idea 👍😁
