Wella Demi permanent hair color did the same thing to me. I used a very light brown and my hair is almost black. I went back to Sally’s where I bought it and they told me. Oh yeah, Wella tends to be darker than any other colors. so it’s not just us it’s a well-known fact amongst the sally stores. They also recommended the next time to go up at least three shades from what I want my color to be.

I know this is an old video but next time you need to neutralize the red before going in with the three I’ve learned that a warm base. Can make the color look lighter. So next time before going in with the three use an ashy color on your hair to neutralize the warmth.

After color oops you have to go 2 shades lighter than what you want.

My hair was the same exact color as yours was in the picture where it was brassy and I put five a on there like a lady told me that it would bring it down to an ashy light brown like it says on the box ashy light brown, not blackI’m so upset. Just did mine today using Ion color brilliance 5n. The only difference is I used 20 developer and it turned out dark brown with a hint of Mahogany which is beautiful. I left it on 30-35min then washed with a Paul Mitchell color care shampoo. It was a dish water blonde prior like a 6-7A Ashy . Your video doesn't show what color your hair was before. But I'm thinking the developer is the difference

I had been circling Wella Color Charm demi-permanent and Ion demi permanent hair color since they stopped carrying Clairol Professional demi permanent...I finally broke down and tried Wella...Big Mistake! Both Wella and Ion demi permanent are just bad, bad, bad! No kind of "blonde" demi permanent should turn anybody's hair from light brown to black-brown--like level 3, in less than 20-minutes of open air! Never ever again!

I've been using Wella Color Charm for 15 years and I am/was a natural blonde, but as I've gotten older my hair has gotten to be a mousy Brown. I am by no means an expert. That said... Ash, is a toner that I would use to temper blonde in color charm. If I want lighter hair, I use the neutral shades 9N and 8N and 7N. And mix it with only a couple of drops of your Ash color. I believe the gold and the reddish Shades will be brassy on you if you apply any of those. If I want maximum lift of color I use a stronger developer. The regular developer is 20. If I want maximum I try 30. If you put any more dye over the dye you have now, you will be compounding the problem and it may darken. Once the bleached hair grows out, your hair, naturally, will take the color in a different kind of way and you will have to adjust the application formula. To blend when it grows, you can use a comb to pull the color down a bit, but do not keep coloring the length, just the roots. Layer upon layer of color will keep depositing pigment making it darker. That's just my experience, You should consult a color expert. Remember, with color charm, it's 2oz of developer for every 1oz of pigment.
