I'm interested if there was trouble with this aircraft prior to landing as well as the controller sounds pissed off already at the start of the video. Presumably he was a student on a solo, but I'm not sure that the instructor should have let him go off by himself. However, all that being said, the fact that the controller was using so much non-standard phraseology doesn't help with new or foreign pilots and may have lead to the belief that the controller would use a non-standard term like rolling to clear him for takeoff. Transmission at 1.05 should have been something like “4VU, Runway 17, cleared touch and go. On departure, climb 6 thousand and fly heading XXX”. No one really comes out of this looking that great

One could aruge (and one has) that ATC shouldn't have used the word "continue" in an instruction to hold... but this video's very title and card automatically discards that possibility. That's a thumbs down for me.

No reason for the controller to go on that long plugging up his frequency. He's creating more of an issue and more safety risk than the CFI and his student did with that long roll-out. IMVHO

Excellent work by the controller, especially keeping him on the approach frequency through landing, instead of having him change frequencies after a long day, a pilot induced compromised approach and IFR.

Really teaching the student some good airmanship, there. Rule#1: The tower is always wrong. Rule#2: If the tower is right, see Rule#1. Rule#3: Arguing with ATC on the air is always a good idea. Sheesh.

If i were that student, I'd find another instructor or a different flight school. It's clear the controller and instructor have had issues in the past (edited for proper grammar lol)

That controller was talking so slowly to that pilot I think he might have had some long interactions with this pilot in the past. I don't think he was surprised he went down.
