I had the wagon version. I loved that car.

My Father was a car salesman at the time and brought several of these home. I got to occasionally drive it here and there, including one time in the snow. I always thought it was a neat idea. Much better than the Pacer or Gremlin. LOL.

I wanted one of these so bad when they came out. It was so far ahead of it's time and one of the coolest looking cars made in the day. The drive-train was excellent but those engines ended up killing it off.

It's higher clearance is a lesson todays SUV makers need to adopt.

I remember when AMC was making these the public was kinda "WTF?" 30 years later and the public is "We miss AMC and their cool cars".

I had that exact thumbnail car and a black one. The red one was rebuilt to stock in and out, but i threw everything available at the engine. What a machine we built! It could take anything else on the road!

Thank you so much for making this video, I have never seen one of these out in the wild and I am truly hooked on it now. My neighbor back in Mine Hill, New Jersey, had a four door version of this, don't remember what it was called but I know it was from AMC. He seemed to always be working on the engine so I don't know if it was unreliable or he just liked messing with it. I definitely need to see if there are any of these near me and go take a look at it, I wish someone made a car like this today but alas everything is 4 door that is similar to this. Thanks again!!

I was born in 1951. So I remember the time when station wagon vehicles were the main vehicle for a large family. Over the years my parents owned four station wagon vehicles. One of them was a 1964 Ford Country Sedan with the 352 cubic inch V8 and a four barrel carburetor and dual exhaust and the cruise-o-matic automatic transmission. In my young years I thought this station wagon was quite powerful. So I also remember the era of muscle car vehicles where more power meant a large displacement powerful V8 naturally aspirated, overhead valves, pushrod V8 engine, that was very gasoline thirsty. This was the era before fuel economy regulations. Starting in the early 1970s the early smog control regulations started to dramatically decrease the power of these V8 engines.

My first car was a 66 Lemans wagon in lite green metallic with the 326... Who'd a thunk it would ever be worth much, loved that car. Thanks for the share, take care.

In the summer of 1967, I had to go to summer school to make up an algebra class. Outside of our classroom and parked on the street was a bright red SAAB Sonett 2 that really caught the eye. My parents drove an Austin Healey 3000, so I was aware of and had an interest in sports cars. I didn't know what that little red car was yet, but it stayed in my mind. It wasn't until a few years later when I started reading Road & Track that I found out what it was. And by the way, I got an A in that class.

The engine is FORD Cardinal Project engine in the USA originally. Used in Bobcats front loaders, American Lincoln Sweepers, Oil pipeline pump engine. I had a propane model 96 V4.

I love Aston Martin, there’s been a few iffy ones. They mostly look so good though lol and they make nice noises. Some of their recent 1 offs and limited runs inspired by this car are just pure car pornography. If jaguar wants to see how a luxury performance car brand should be right now Aston seems to be churning some smart stuff out! And guess what they use their heritage not throw it away lol.

Bill Jenkins changed rostock when he went from big block camaros to small block Vegas. I traded in my 427 67 camaro in to order a Vega in 1971. They gave me 1000$ for it towards the Vegas that was2600$ . Just before I was going to put in a small block I sold it to my sister so I could buy a used 19701/2 z28 camaro with 360hp lt1 and m22 transmission which was my favorite car to this day.

My buddy and I both had V8 Vega's. His was a Vega and mine was the Pontiac Astre version. Both cars had a 350 SVC under the hood and they were an absolute riot to drive. We got around 10 seconds 1/4 mile times no matter who drove them. It was fun, but I'm glad its over. Spending all my time and money on my cars and motorcycle's was tons of fun but, esting once in a while is fairly important too. 😅

It had a two bolt 350 which could easily handle 500hp and a 8.5 inch rear end which could also handle 500hp. In a time when building 400hp was off the chart. All you had to do was soup it up if you weren't inpressed with the output
