This is why Destiel didn’t become canon until the very end. It was a toxic platonic relationship even. Dean was dismissive and rude and all around duck to Cas on various occasions, especially if Cas didn’t do what Dean told him to do exactly. I ship destiel, but I also understand why it’s not a good relationship.

In all honesty castiels death was the saddest one I cried about it

Knowing, as I do, that Kripke made this series, and set it in Kansas, specifically Lawrence, because of an urban legend (may be a legend, may be real, a lot of things happen there from time slippage, to sightings of monsters, and don't take my word for it, look it up) , that the Stull Cemetary in Stull Kansas is a gateway to hell, and Stull is only half an hour from Lawrence IRL. Kripke wanted his main characters , Sam and Dean Winchester (named for the gun manufacturer), to be from that area, as a sort of open premise for all the creepy things he's thought up. The real Stull cemetary is featured in at least one episode of the series. So, If Supernatural isn't a horror series, what would you call it? Use the name Stull Cemetary, or the words gateway to hell Kansas, and google will fill in the gaps. Research, folks, a fascinating thing.
