Hand pouring a concrete rat slab under a stair landing
Mixing concrete with a kobalt cement mixer to pour a rat slab under a stairwell . This will keep critters and moisture from getting under the steps. Foam insulation was placed under the floor to help keep the cold air out in the winter time.

Installing concrete precast piers

Using a kioti tractor and a Johnson laser level to install footing drains around a foundation in a new build. In the video I’ll explain how and why I install the pipe the way I do and hopefully it will help anyone looking to install footing drainage. Please like share and hit the like button. To see the other videos look for part 1 and 2. More to come.

How thick and was it a 10x10 foot slab and how many bags did it take
@@CodyMcDonald-v5s 2x6 forms so 5-1/2” thick. I do not remember how many bags we used I would have to look at my job notes
Great video. Just confirming but it doesn’t like like you needed to put down any sort of crushed stone/gravel for the pier to sit on correct?
Amazing!!! Great work!
Howany bags? 4inch?
so you call it digging and backfilling, and you completely skipped the backfilling which is what I wanted to see.
lucky, you guys. not every on get's a chance like that .👍👍👍👍
It’s definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity and so glad Sarah filmed it
Momma squirted the baby! Haha!
Ha ha yes it’s kind of nasty and the baby did not even know!
I almost puked 🤢

Looks good Glenn
Thank you they were old and really needed to come out
I don’t see a stress cut. Something that big really should have one .
It’s not real big it’s only 11x11 If it was bigger then that we would have put one in. Also it is not a high traffic slab
good work. a $70 wheelbarrow would be very helpful.
I use wheelbarrows but I like using buckets better. Little more handling but I can put it right where I want it and don’t have to make ramps over forms. But yes they do save your back some .
Its always satisfying to watch great team work!....Nice job
Thank you. We work very well together.
Nice job! How long did this take and did you use something to keep the cement from dying out fast?
It took just under 2 hours and it was cool out so once it set up some it got covered with concrete blankets to keep the heat in.
Really not sure why your concrete.mixer wasn't inside the form for ar least half of the pour. The wire could have still been pulled up. It would have saved a lot of time and carrying.
My back hurts just watching this...but nice job guys
Thank you , I’m glad we don’t have to mix bags everyday but not to bad once in awhile. Thank you for watching.
Have you seen the dry technique.
It's a scam...ask any pro
What is the wire thing called
The wire in the slab is wire mesh , it is used to help keep the concrete from braking apart over time
@@glennwiacek4705 okay thanks. enjoyed your video by the way
Not to be cheap but you could have used a lot less bags of concrete mix you are supposed to use gravel for drainage and for slab movement that slab is going to move and lead to cracks what was you thinking ? Always use atleast 2 to 3 inches of gravel do it once so it right
What about vapor barrier

Less concrete would mean a 2" slab. That's too thin too
I did see that. Problem was I was commenting on a previous project but youtube jumped to you project before I finished typing. So that's where my comment went. oops!
No problem hope you enjoyed both my video and the other one you watched
Constantly stomping the wire down? Doesn't look like it is actually going to actually reinforce the concrete. Road work rebar/wire is suspended off the roadbed and not left down in the dirt.
Normally we use stands for the wire and rebar. Unfortunately not a thick slab but as we go along he is constantly pulling up the mesh into the concrete and as he does that the aggregate in the concrete holds it off the dirt.
What size slab? How thick? How many bags of concrete?
11x11x4” we used about 75 bags
Used ready mix?
What size bags?
Question: Why not use a wire frame in the pour just for added strength?
We have wire in the slab. If you watch he is constantly pulling it up into the concrete as we move along
Won't last long u gotta put wire in all concrete will crack after time .. 100% will crack what a wast of time and money..
There is wire mesh in the concrete .
@@glennwiacek4705 good u know what ur doing most don't ... Hell yeah brother keep up the good work
You should have pulled up on that steel as you were spreading the mud. All your steel is laying on the ground. You wasted time and money doing that. That being said all concrete cracks. Depending on the weight you put on the slab it really shouldn't matter
Y'all did an amazing job! That's pretty cool. I'm going to do My parents walkway. Maybe I'll videotape that and see how it turns out. Do your method. It's going to be like 20 ft long by probably 36 in wide. Don't know how many bags I need but I guess I'll figure it out
We get our bags from a building supply company but if you go on Lowe’s website I believe they have a bag calculator you can you. And you should film it , always cool to see the work in progress
What kind of gravel did you guys used?
We use concrete
Impressive, I have a concrete channel on TH-cam as well
I have moved into more excavation but still have a lot of fun done small concrete jobs
Nice, I plan on making a slap pretty the same way. Did you just take all them bags back to the store?
We do not bring them back. They are paper so we recycle them
Cuántas bolsas de concreto sefuerom
Why didn’t you just get pre mixed Crete delivered? Surely would be cheaper?
The biggest reason we didn’t get a truck was site conditions. We are in winter and the mud is very bad. They also have a minimum yardage and we didn’t meet that. We also don’t have a mix on site small batch truck willing to go to that area.
how long that take to mix that amount
It took an hour and a half to mix about 2 hours total after cleaning everything up
@@glennwiacek4705 Man that's fast work. Respect
@@glennwiacek4705 holy smokes! That’s a bag every 80 seconds! Two at a time that’s more than a batch every 3 minutes! You guys rock.
@@lgrizzly with two people and a mixer it goes fast. 👍
great work. is that a kobalt mixer from Lowes?
Yes it is. It’s a few years old now and I use it a lot for small jobs.
How many bags and what were the dimensions?
We used about 70 bags. It is 11x11 4-5 “ thick
60 80 or 90 pound bags. Thx for the response
@@joemanflyer2001 80 pound bags
What type of bags did you wind up using.

Nice job and well done video. Makes me want to start editing hours of my footage haha
Thank you. You definitely should, it takes up a lot of time but is cool to look back on.
Looks like some of those rocks were beating up both you and the machine.
Yes they where, hard digging in that area but I do enjoy doing it.
enjoyed the vid and learned a little something by looking at how you did the excavation layout. take care!
