100th Mystical Munchies! Phoenix's Hot Chicken & Egg Oyakodon
Welcome to the 100th episode of Mystical Munchies! Mystical Munchies continues out of the Marvel Eat the Universe cookbook with the entree, Phoenix's Hot Chicken & Egg Oyakodon! Tune in, and see me make this recipe! Recipe below.
Yield: 2 servings
Ingredients
• Fried Chicken
o 3 cups buttermilk, divided
o 2 tablespoons vinegar-based hot sauce
o 1 tablespoon kosher salt, plus more for seasoning
o 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
o Vegetable oil for deep-frying
o 4 cups all-purpose flour
o Black pepper
o 6 tablespoons cayenne pepper, or to taste
o 4 tablespoons paprika, or to taste
• Sauce
o 2 tablespoons paprika
o 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
o ¼ cup brown sugar
o 2 tablespoons soy sauce
o 1 tablespoon mirin
o ½ white onion, sliced
o 1 cup water
o 1 small packet (8-9 grams) dashi seasoning
o 2 tablespoons vinegar-based hot sauce
• Bowl
o 2 eggs
o 3 cups cooked rice, warm
o 1 food coloring marker (optional)
o 2 oblate discs (optional)
o Sour dill pickles for garnishing
Preparing the Recipe
To make the fried chicken:
1. Combine 1 ½ cups of the buttermilk with the hot sauce and the 1 tablespoon kosher salt in a nonreactive bowl or zip-top bag. Place the chicken in the bowl or bag with the marinade. Toss the chicken to coat, and refrigerate, covered, for at least 4 hours or up to 24 hours.
2. Fill a Dutch oven halfway with the vegetable oil, or fill a deep fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions. In either case, heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
3. Divide the flour evenly between two shallow dishes or trays. In a third shallow dish or tray, add the remaining 1 ½ cups buttermilk. Arrange the trays of flour on either side of the buttermilk. Season the first tray of flour with plenty of kosher salt and black pepper. Season the second tray of flour with more kosher salt and plenty of cayenne pepper and paprika. Doctor this according to your tastes. Paprika isn’t hot, and it’s mostly for aroma and color.
4. Working with one piece of chicken at a time, shake the excess marinade off and then drag it through the first tray of flour, coating it on both sides. Shake off the excess, then drag it through the buttermilk, coating both sides, and shaking off the excess again. Finally, drag the chicken through the spicy flour, coating both sides, but don’t shake off the excess. Transfer to a plate and repeat the remaining chicken.
5. Fry the chicken in batches by gently lowering it into the hot oil and letting it cook for about 7 minutes, making sure to turn it occasionally to cook the meat evenly - it’ll be dark reddish brown. Adjust the heat to keep the oil at 375 degrees F; the chicken will cause the oil to drop in temperature. Remove the chicken from the fryer and allow to drain and rest on a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack set over a tray to catch the oil. Season with a bit more kosher salt. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the oil.
To make the sauce:
1. While the chicken is resting, combine all the sauce ingredients in a medium bowl. Pour this mixture into a medium saucepan and heat on medium-low until the onions are tender.
To make the bowl:
2. Add the reserved oil from frying to a nonstick pan and fry the eggs over medium heat to your preferred level of doneness.
3. Divide the rice between two serving bowls. Place the chicken on top of the rice, then drizzle the sauce over the top. Top each bowl with a cooked egg. If you’d like, you can use a food coloring marker to draw a star on the oblate discs to match Cable’s eye, then use the discs to garnish the eggs. Add pickles (if using) and devour in good company.

the map has 2 sides... one side for small convoys, and one side for big convoys.,..
I have a tip for dragging the cards around. If you go into Options > Hands, you can make the players' hands visible to everyone and that way you don't have to drag the cards past the players' hands in order to make their hands visible!
Thanks for the tip. I'll bear that in mind in the future, but I normally use the space for Diana's hand, at least, for the cards that go beneath Diana from her special ability.
@@PhoenixKnight08 Ah that makes sense too. No need to change what you're doing because of some Internet stranger's comment lol.
Nice you found the envelope....i got the integral edition so i wasnt sure if it came with standard versions
as a professional cook now I would think you might choose recopies that fit your tastes... or alter them so that they taste the way you want... recipes are there to steer you in the right direction, but you should always alter them to taste based upon your opinion...
I usually do the recipe mostly as written the first time. If I revisit a recipe, that's when I modify.
100 already... congrats... that is a great start..
was never a big fan of Metal Gear.. and I like CMON... we are opposite I guess... interesting to see what you think of it..
A very interesting topic to game. I'm curious enough to pick up a copy myself! Thanks!
I had the first edition Twilight 2000 back in the mid to late 80's. I simply enjoyed reading the rules! We only played a few times, and I sold my copy off to Noble Knight Games around 20 years ago. Pirates of the Vistula... brings back memories!
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
how to get the pdf of rule,i want buy one of that
Unfortunately, as far as I know, there isn't a PDF of just the rules. You'd have to buy the book on Amazon (or wherever it's sold in your country).
Runners advance 2 bases on 2-out bloop singles!
Curious to know what you don't like. Your t-shirt, in the opening shot, says "I don't like" and then the rest is covered by the apron. Until further disclosure, I will have to assume that you don't like...aprons!? Oh, later on "morning people" becomes evident. I approve of this dislike. One suggestion for the taste test portion of the program: take a less gigantic bite of whatever it is you're sampling, so you don't have to spend many silent seconds chewing before your evaluation begins.
The shirt says: 'I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.' As for the size of the bites, I could stand to take smaller bites, but I also use the silent chewing time to consider the taste. If a recipe is particularly sweet/hot/sour/etc, that's when I'll usually find out about it.
OK... looks pretty good... I bet I would like it as I like sweet things...
Great playthrough!
I believe it snowed in Detroit that day. I remember the Tigers were very high on Chris Pittaro.
they look good... lets see how they tase..
I just sent you an email.... today about the fact I ordered Undaunted Callasco which you just did an unboxing of... and I was surprised that I just ordered that game the same time as you did... well part of that order was Turing machine... oh my god... this is crazy that you ordered the same games that I did... I am just saying there was 2 other games in the order and if you post vidoes of those game as well I am going to flip out... this is insane... I have waited and waited to get these and then we both them 2 games at the same time... great minds think alike I guess.. or something like that...
The idea of it reminds me of sim city the video game
Looking on Google game cost about 60$
Looks like a good meaty heavy thinky Euro game with not a ton of rules. It can be unforgiving though if you make a planning error. I've heard the solo mode is complicated to set up. It gives me Pipeline vibes. Gaming Rules! does a good 'How to play' video on it. 🙂
I almost ordered this today... have not pulled the trigger.. but maybe I should..
Hey Phoenix - friendly reminder - rules say you ignore the dogleg on 2nd shots.
On Weeks HR you say he can’t hit one off the BP card therefore it’s a fly out. If I understood you correctly.
I have about 20 tutorials on every facet of the game.
Sweet. another guy recording Fall Classic. Reach out to me at the Fall Classic Group and we can talk about the game.
Interesting looking game
should be a good match-up and a fun time... I need to play Magneto which just came in a month ago...
fall classic is a game that should take 2-3 plays... use the FAC cards as they are great... makes the game run smooth... it takes a game or two but once you get the game and understand it the game will FLY through and will be super easy to do... also use the built in runner steal system.. and the defensive sheets.. print those out and use them... those defensive sheets are one of the best things in sports sims... same so much time and effort...
and a quilt... that is nice... something you can have for years and years... hope you don't change your channel logo now...
oh mom did you right and made an apron and that looks really cool... thanks mom....
wow... you got some boxes there.... nice..
A Kurt Bergland authentic unboxing...love it!!!
that is a good question... who put you in charge of Christmas cheer... that person should be fired...
hi MOM>.. hows it going... this was a good idea and glad you did it.. worked out well I think... happy holidays... hope the family is good...
Just saw that you were playing this today! Sorry that I missed it until afterward. Wow, I'm fifteen minutes into the video. This is rough stuff. You're facing another Japanese attempt at a knock-out blow, your runway is a bombed-out disaster, and your SCR-270 radar is down... Frankly, I don't know what I would do in this situation, it is really a tough one.
@@HistoricWings Pick your poison was the description of the dilemma that came to mind.
It sounds like the blender's bearing needs tightening or replacing. There are TH-cam videos about how to do that. It's relatively simple, but takes a little tinkering skill.
your people at work are probably missing all of the food you bring in to them... they probably can't wait for you to come back...
Nice Phoenix, u are cranking out the videos.
Which specific TTS mod of AH2E is this?

Good stuff Phoenix...always enjoy a good unboxing.
You order them on the website
what did you think of this game? Is it worth trying to get my self... it looks interesting that is for sure and I like roll and writes... let me know.. I am hope sick today from work..
It's a decent game that provides a quick Mythos Fix, and surprisingly, it's not hard to track down. NKG has copies of it for mid-40's. Two things I will say: 1. The dice are somewhat hard to read, but not terrible. 2. This game was made in Germany, so there are some minor quips in translation.
A. very clear playthrough. Un grand merci !
I like your mat next thing I get or I will make my own large one from cardboard, you know I really like the way that mat has those light looking yardage numbers. That’s why I am using the old field with the numbers.
Nice Phoenix I have played 1.5 games so far using hybrid mode, I might do a video on it but only a quarter, Where did you get that mat made? I don’t see it on plaay.
Jester sent me the image I used on the mat, and then I had it printed from Inked Gaming.
