Welding Cast Iron When You Probably Shouldn't
มุมมอง 1822 ปีที่แล้ว
Mr. Ond Tony released a video on welding cast iron, just before I finished my video on the same subject. His video was so good, I almost deleted this. But after watching it again, I found some merits. We didn't learn much in my video, but the ride was fun. TOT is my favorite youtube channel, and that will likely never change. Tire Truing, Building a lightweight Aluminum Tire Shaver for Track Days
Its criminal you don't have more subscribers. The algorithm is cruel. All hail the algorithm.
I’ve wondered about this too. I also wondered about making spacers for my car with coilovers. One championship has a different ride height reg to the other and I thought spacers would be easier to add in and out than re corner weight between events.
Where tf is your mask 😂 and did you ever consider a fume extractor
Working on it, in general moving air isn't friendly to tig, in general I shouldn't have welded this material
You can hear the vtech so easily
Why doesn't this video get views??? Lol
What the actual fuck are you doing huffing what you weld in the first place dude? Get a respirator, saying that welding stainless is better is so stupid, it's even more harmful even if it doesn't make you as instantly sick as zinc or aluminum. Even a cheap respirator..
Oohh yes baby vtec from a NSX beautiful ❤
Resperator dude
WOW!!! That was cool, makes me want to fabricate. Awesome video
You can do it!
Holy shit that crossover is loud, what a beast.
This is a few years old… you mentioned you were building on building to sell, did that occur? Do you have units to sell?
Honestly, I am working towards that goal. I did suffer a few setbacks (divorce and custody battle) BUT I am designing a cheap cnc shaver that will dominate. Stay tuned
Looking for something like this for Offroad UTV tires that aren’t so round.
awesome video! subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
Nice build. Your videos are great.
Aluminium fumes supposedly linked to Alzheimer's too
How did this dude not blow up? Quality content
I'm not consistent, working on it 😊
Can you share the stl files? Thanks!
The music junked another video 👎👎👎👎👎💩💩💩😬
Please explain, I'm a life long drummer, and I get funky around car stuff.
Huh?
Your toe was slightly off because the track width is usually slightly narrower in the back.
Interesting, is this miata specific, or a car thing?
@@BlipSS Car thing. Almost all cars have a different front and rear track width. You have to measure that first and make up for the difference.
Just a thought. The 3d rack can be off big time. So your tool maybe correct not the rack :) tested few 3d stands, you can make them read anything you want !
I'm about to weld the same exhaust... except outdoors
Smart, but the wind in my area of Texas blows, not great for argon coverage. My main mistake was accepting the customers' demands, hard to do when you and the kid are hungry. But this was officially the last time. I've moved on lol.
You mentioned this was done in the past. Was it a big problem with bias ply tires and not today with radials? My father had this done to our family wagon and it was amazing how smooth it drove on the highway.
I think tire shaving was a necessity back in the day because tire manufacturing was not exactly precise, when they cast the rubber it came out of the mold out of round, so shaving was the only way to roll down the road somewhat smoothly. Then balance became a bigger thing as speeds increased. ❤
It's a crime these videos don't have more views. Keep rolling.
Love you ❤❤❤
I feel your pain welding this stuff it sucks
Thank you brother, hopefully we can end the suffering so many welders face. I mean wtf, we just supposed to find everything we need at the parts store and bolt it together, ha!
Nice effort. I bought a second-hand tyre balancer and tyre fitting machine. I'm using both for their obvious use as well as tyre buffing. A sharp blade is perfect and makes less mess than a grinder. Be really careful with what you're doing, as inhaling small rubber particles will kill you. Maybe try a sharp chisel set or use a vacuum cleaner to suck those particles.
Did your tool account for the possibly differing front and rear track width?
Another issue i see (which you could i am sure fix) is that the runout measurement/compensation only is on the wheel plane which goes through whichever wheel studs you happened to choose. So that is going to be a bit random. But 1/2 of .015 if you happen to hit that plane is going to add .19 degrees of error right there for that wheel if you happen to use the wrong studs.
Ahh, this would have been a nice project to test on my car. Any chance of sharing the .stl files?
have you built any to sell????/ would love to have one
Dude, I'm working on it, big time, yall gonna freak whe you see the capability vs cost, nothing on the market is like it. Please stay tuned!!!
Don't understand how an engine can run so good but have absolutely zero engine vacuum on any intake manifold port...
It just does
Maybe try a respirator?
Love the mimic of THIS OLD TONY...😆
Great video.
Are the Stl files available yet??
Lol, I'll get them up, I promise!
Excellent! I look forward to it! Can I just ask, is the procedure you use with the large aluminium block to get the laser to run parallel to the car? And is jacking the car up necessary or can the laser holder just be rotated? Thanks
@@BlipSS great video, would also love the STL,s when ready too.
pls upload it
Nsx. Sou ds better. The higher compression / ethanol of other accounts for lower pressure waves, (sound)
Thanks brother!
Duhhhh n.s.x.. Are u deaf?
NSX for me all the way lol
That stuff causes serious cancer.
I believe that, hate it, never again!
@@BlipSS Apparently you missed the part of using a "Respirator'" when welding Aluminum and other coated (Galvanized) metals in welding class. Its also very easy to just use cheap White Vinegar to remove the coating from the area that you are welding on. We just dip the ends of the two pieces in vinegar and give it 30 mins. Also a trick is to remove it at least 3" back from your weld area if you are using Stick to Mig. Tig you can control the heat better and not over heat the material as badly as the other types of welding. However you should still use a respirator anyway. And if you cant get one on over your weld helmet. Than switch over to the flat pancake "Pipeliner" style.
I appreciate you taking the time to post this. I've been feeling task saturation starting this business, and I really need everyone's help to learn and pass it on so maybe it helps someone. Never got into this work to weld this stuff, I've always known it's not good, but I needed the money. That's no excuse, but I'm trying
Keep it respectful please!
I was asking myself the same questions. :)
ha!
@@BlipSS th-cam.com/video/jZ4JPRsoAdc/w-d-xo.html guess I am one of those guys too...here is my attempt
Sorry everyone, I made the falling caliper clip a long time ago but I never found a good place for it in my videos, so now it's a short! lol
Maybe it's just my phobia of life, but I always run my grinder without the shield. Just wear eye pro and thick clothes. You'll be fiiiiiine.
Lol I'll admit my video personality doesn't like to be a bad example for the kids.. BUT the real me has been to the hospital several times for eye related accidents
Bring on the stories
You sure? lots of drama! lol, I do have an idea on how to address a few things in a funny way
So avoid aluminized steel. Best for budget probably 409 stainless?
You need to add Metal Detecting to the list.. Awesome climb cut shot👍
Drink buttermilk before you start, old sheet metal worker trick
did you go to trade school?
Sadly no, I was always an art and music student. I grew up building stuff with my dad and Grandpa from a very early age. They owned an old run down trailer park where I spent my childhood fixing everything imaginable. I got pretty good at it but ultimately fell in love with cars and started to learn welding (I was around 10)
Link to stl ?
Highly doubt you will ever get this
Awesome vid archer! This one was my favorite you’ve done in a while
Thanks bud!!
I say Ben needs his own segment in every episode. Like “bens corner”
Great and funny vid! I like how you had the metal music every time you banged, cut or messed with the metal. Also did the manifold grenade?
Thanks! We will never know what really happened to the manifold sadly. I like to think it's with the bunny walking across the rainbow bridge
