Is this the last meal for king cobras this season?
มุมมอง 11K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
King cobras are exclusive snake eaters and occasionally feed on monitor lizards. Like other snakes, they do not feed on mice, birds, or frogs. For an 11-foot king cobra, no other snake is as grand a meal as an 8-foot rat snake. Feeding on any other snake would mean the king must hunt more. It was late evening. The villagers had spotted a king cobra hunt a rat snake, bite it, release it, and ret...
11 feet king cobra rescued from a burrow
มุมมอง 36K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Rodents make burrows near people's homes where they can find an easy meal and an easy escape. These burrows may have one or two visible outlets above ground, but beneath is a maze of tunnels. Snakes prey on rodents and use their burrows as resting places and passageways. This king cobra was spotted resting in a burrow outside a local villager's house in Agumbe. King cobras are known to feed exc...
King cobra in the car
มุมมอง 80K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Come summer, and Agumbe throws surprises. Ever heard of a king cobra in a car? Yes, that is the kind of surprise we were in. We received a frantic call from the owner saying the villagers spotted a king cobra dash into the bonnet of his Hyundai i10 Car after being chased by dogs. We rushed to the spot. Settled under the bonnet, he was probably watching the crowd between the gaps. It was through...
A royal rescue:Saving the Queen
มุมมอง 14K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
It was dinner time when we received a call for a king cobra rescue from Koluru, a village 23 km away. King cobras are diurnal snakes that usually settle for the night by twilight. However, this female king cobra had unknowingly ventured too close to a village home. She went unnoticed, but for a dog that started barking and chasing her while she tried desperately to find a space in the cow shed ...
Largest king cobra rescued
มุมมอง 665K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
In all the 20 years I have been studying and rescuing king cobras in Agumbe, this remarkable male that I rescued on the 31st of March surprised me. While the average weight for males falls between 3.5 to 6 Kg and for females between 2 to 3.5 Kg, this massive king cobra weighed a whopping 12.5kg! Everything about this king cobra was huge in weight, length, and girth. Such rescues instil hope tha...
King Cobra with its prized kill
มุมมอง 16K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Every hunt is precious for the predator. We must understand and respect it by not disturbing the cycle. Rat snakes form a crucial part of a king cobra's diet. Hunting one may take a week or more for a king cobra, but once hunted, it satiates the king's hunger for a long time. Rat snakes come after rats, and rats are abundant where people live. This king cobra had followed the rat snake and bit ...
Giant King Cobra rescue in Malnad
มุมมอง 21K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
King cobras a revered in the Malenadu region*. People here are highly tolerant towards King Cobras. Since morning this family observed a king cobra basking on their roof and moving near their house, but when it settled in a burrow right next to their house, they sought our help to remove it and release it back to the wild. This is when we at the Kalinga Foundation stepped in. In typical situati...
The Search for Minchoo | The Pit Viper | Agumbe Rainforest
มุมมอง 3.6Kปีที่แล้ว
It's been quite some time since I last updated you on Our PitViper project. During our routine tracking of Minchoo at the field station, our team managed to catch some faint signals. However, unfortunately, these signals weren't strong enough to precisely determine the snake's whereabouts. To aid us in our mission, we had Gaurav, an exceptional climber, who helped us navigate through the rainfo...

King Cobra Rescue during the King Cobra Bionomics Workshop| March 2023
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
We got a call for King Cobra rescue during our annual King Cobra Bionomics Workshop and the participants had an opportunity to witness the rescue of a big, male King Cobra that was resting inside a shed. King Cobras often wander out in search for food and a mate during this season. The king is now safely rescued and released back into the wild.
Party with The Irular Tribe of Norther Tamil Nadu
มุมมอง 779ปีที่แล้ว
When in Rome, do as the Romans do! Did you know that the Irulas - one of the six particularly vulnerable tribal groups of Tamil Nadu - also relish rat meat, which they cook fresh after catching the rodents from paddy fields. The rats are often collected when farm owners in nearby villages hire them to get rid of pests from their fields. Rats steal paddy, ragi from fields and store them in under...

Good thing your place had someone trained to catch, rescue and relocate snakes and looks like funded by your government? Here in Philippines maybe around 70% that snake will be dead already, most of our citizens doesnt have knowledge about snake and worst there are few hospitals having anti venom

Bro use good box 📦 to rescue
Dr Gowri Shankar, as a wildlife enthusiast i have couple of questions for you. 1. Once you have caught a snake, you make sure that you release them back. but probably at a different location to its actual burrow(home ) that could have been very close to where it was caught. In such a case wouldn't the snake get agitated. 2. Is it possible that the fangs of King cobra penetrate even through the cloth you use. 3. How are they able to breathe inside the cloth until you release them. Am sorry if these question looks silly but am just curious.
That's a massive snake! Nice handling!
Very intelligent snake.
Perfect!
Genius at work 👏👏
I've one question I see you guys take bag by hands and don't seem worried even if it's quite close to your waist...I've seen some holding the bag with tongs and warning people to not be near the bag as the snake can bite from inside also...can you please answer why you guys aren't worried like that because I'm curious to know
You're really simple...you don't piss the snake off like some out there
I'm happy that i found your channel after watching you in Snakes in the city...you really make me click the video and watch till the end...i love snakes and your rescues ❤

Bravo big respect for good man❤
Bro at least speak in English so that rest of the world can understand.
You have no right to demand that he should speak in English. He is speaking in his native language Kannada, he is working in a region where the local language is Kannada. Stop imposing your demands on others.
@@greatbalance then put title in your language. You guys are new terrorists.
My friends told me its meat is very tasty over a bottle of whiskey
