Hi! I'm a poly bridge enthusiast who enjoys over-engineering levels! I've worked as a level designer for the main campaign for Poly Bridge 2.

This is amazing. 1. Which configuration has the most "smooth" horizontal motion? Or the least deviation from a perfect line? 2. Is there any connection between these linkages and the shapes of constant width?
Thank you! :) If you allow the number of pedals to extend off to infinity (basically increasing the "resolution" of the wheels as shown at 9:36), you will eventually get essentially perfectly smooth horizontal motion. If you limit to a certain resolution though, I would say the ones which have the best ability of rolling aren't in this video but in the sequel to this video; they're called Roberts Amobea wheels and they essentially look like a pill-shaped amoeba. (As of now, it's the second latest video, though I will also link it in the description as well). I don't believe these have any connection to shapes of constant width. An immediate difference being that constant-width shapes require using polygons with an odd number of sides, but Amoeba wheels are capable of following polygons with any number of sides. (Spoilers!) We believe it is much more closely related to epitrochoids instead.
