Reloading antique firearms and more. follow me as I learn and discover through trial and error. Please comment on your experience, opinions and ideas. We can learn and grow together. Everything shown here is my experience. I by no means suggest that anyone do this without further investigation and research. Duplicate at your own risk. I am not a gunsmith. My videos are mostly about my experience reloading. Very little on history, or specifics, as I'm no expert. I leave that to channels like "Forgotten Weapons."

Mine came with three magazines. They’ll all hold 9 rounds. If you load 9 they won’t feed. If you load 8 they work fine.
Hola. Buen video, gracias. Tengo una Astra 200 del año 1930 aproximadamente. Fabulosa y confiable hasta el dia de hoy. El .25 ACP pega fuerte, no es un juguete. A 5 o 10 metros es mortal. Saludos desde Chile !!
With current scarcity of 50-90 Sharps as a donor case, I am interested in the 32 gauge from Magtech. I will be reloading for the 71/88 Dutch Beaumont Vitali. Have you had any issues with extraction (or other cautions), using the 32 gauge as a donor?

Cool looking sidearm, I have been looking for a a metal frame compact to carry and this video brought the M70 to my attention. Thanks
@@thenegociater3387 you're welcome. I enjoyed doing it.
Check out the model 34 Beretta. It's a steel frame, and more compact. Easy to clean as well.
My first military surplus pistol purchase. I don't think I've had a single hang up using the factory magazines, even hollowpoints run in it.

TA-4Js huh? older than durt! 🙂 I remember the Helwans from back in the 90s when they had ads for them in Shotgun news. They were kind of like the SKS of the pistol world --- they were practically GIVING them away at that time. $90, something like that.

Awesome video👍
I want one! Thanks for sharing!
I saw an earlier video where you were going to shoot 38acp in you 9mm largo, but it ran out before you did the 38acp. I have two stars that are marked largo, 9mm/38. I have some 38acp and lots of 38 super brass. I was hoping to load the 38 super cases light and shoot in the largo. What is your thinking on this? Steve C.
@@lisachasteen5312 it works just fine. I also used .38 super brass.
❤I just acquired a like firearm from a friend named Gustoff, 89 years old. It is in an oak case with matching nickel bayonet. He said it belonged to his father who was in the queens guard in Denmark circa 1909. It was his personal rifle and was presented to him when he moved into the regular army. He had tons of photo and memorabilia to back it up. I would like to find out more about the bullet weight, etc if possible. I have some 45/70 cases ready to trim. Did you take a casting to find out the exact trim length? Most of what I read mentioned a 2.0” length. Thanks for any help. Steve C.
@@lisachasteen5312 according to this link, I did not trim the brass. It's 45/70 standard brass th-cam.com/video/DTpXa-rxwQM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rSOQ24EIP2o22Uor
Great video, I.ve always wanted a Snider. Your first time out with BP looks like a winner. Kind of interesting how the first generations of cartridge rifles lacked an effective ejector and had to roll the action and dump them out.
Nice, the concept of a wrapped barrel is interesting. Probably not too many people around with experience making one.
The gunsmith at Williamsburg, VA, USA used to. I do not know if that is still being done today.
What load were you using? Black powder? Bullet weight? Thanks!

Comforting… he had a spontaneous discharge and he says he’s bleeding!😮
That’s nice looking!!👍🏼
I love Astra's
I just bought one and first and second times at the range it only shot one round and didnt work. Until i ordered a new firing pin spring, guide, and new fire pin. Its a really cool gun and awesome to shoot once it starts shooting good. I wouldn't call this gun my main pistol, its also hard to change magazines if you are in a fire fight. I would call it a good back up pistol only good for 7-8 rounds if needed. Beautiful pitsol to hold and just admire that its 100+ years old. And its got some weight to it very nice pistol to slowly plink and shoot at the range in a slow paced environment.
Come ha fatto a mettere il cannocchiale?
@@donatosquillacioti845 I'm sorry. I cannot translate what you said.
Nice to see it running as intended.
I use 42 grains of IMR 4895 w/ 150 - 155 Match Hornady's n SMK's for my .308's but as ya know every rifle likes it's own food ..
I have the same rifle, is amazing, greetings from uruguay
That should give the pistol many more years of service.
Thanks for posting this video. I just bought this same rifle. I use alcohol pads in between shots as it drys fast and cleans the bore good.
@@TomMJH good idea. Thank you
part 19 looks upside down?
Navy great tips there thanks.
Hello Navy i have never seen one of those. THANKS for the review.
I did a slowmo replay, your off hand (lt hand) 1st digit pulled the trigger when you pulled and let go the hammer.
It does look like it. I replayed it too. However it still will not lock the hammer. I can push the hammer out of the fire position with my thumb with little effort. Also before it happened, it didn't reset the hammer when fired just before the discharge.
At a certain point a project can go from being fun learning experience to being not so fun work.
That can be true. However I like the challenge. It's a process of elimination. But I do get frustrated. The feeling of accomplishment when it finally works is worth it.

Will be getting an 1867/89 Swedish rolling block soon in the 8x58r chambering. It seems you handloaded your rounds. Old South Ammo sells a handload box of 20 for $130 which is crazy. Any thoughts on options? Great content!

This guy seems to have problems with every gun he buys.
@@richardturk7162 that must be because you are only watching the videos of the ones I have issues with. And I get advice and help by posting on the issues I do have. I learn so much from the ones that are problematic, and the help from my followers. Thanks for watching.
As a kid growing up in the 60s you wanted a Skorpion. They were the coolest guns that all the bad guys in the James Bond movies had. Now that I own one....picked up one from Czechpoint... I see that it's a real piece of crap! Stamped Steel, Sharp Edges all over...but Accurate, fun to shoot, and still looks cool as hell. My 20 round mags feed great too!
Two thoughts. I have a post war P-1 marked P-38. I have original mags for mine. They generally eat anything you put in them as far as standard 9mm. The one mag I had with ftf issue had cosmoline in it which corrected the issue on removal. It sounds like you went through all the right steps to solve the issue. Luger aficionados will recommend Winchester White Box 9mm also. Last round hangup might speak to compressed, dirty mag spring.
@@MrReddog1962 I had the magazine apart. I stretched the spring a bit to see if that made a difference, it didn't. New magazines on the way. Thank you.
Best of luck on the new mag. German police used to joke the P-38 was 8 warning shots followed by one well-aimed throw.
Is the jamming and shaving of metal only occuring with the 20rd mag, now? If so, that makes me think that the mag catch has an issue and the heavier 20 rounder is sagging. If you can push up on the magazine, during a failure to feed, and the bolt slams home, you'll know.
@@TwinklesTheChinchilla I think you are on to something there.
Always wanted one of these.
Cool video, thank you. I have been wanting to get into kit builds and have been watching videos like yours thank you.
