Handling a Setback in Your Weight Loss Journey
Now explain why eating a healthy diet, exercising and being in a calorie deficit does not result in being a healthy weight. No one seems to be able to answer this question.
You have come to the right place to learn about how obesity is a disease, not a lifestyle choice, like so many mistakenly think! Watch our video on the science of obesity to answer you question: th-cam.com/video/zqUklOWJOJI/w-d-xo.html
Ozempic is for people who overeats and can’t control themselves because they are always hungry. If you are overweight for reasons like emotional eating caused by trauma, hormonal imbalances, hypothyroidism and other issues not related to over eating, then, it won’t work. A friend of mine over eats due to emotional trauma and even with taking Ozempic she doesn’t lose weight because she still over eats as a compensatory mechanism against her trauma. Unfortunately, she doesn’t want to do anything about her trauma, so she will not lose weight no matter what she takes.
Counselling and CBT can be helpful for people who turn to food for comfort to manage distressing emotions. Emotional eating can make it difficult to achieve a calorie deficit, which you need for weight loss on any medication.
PRIME FIRST!
@@ProfKennR if you are using a new pen for the first time, we have a separate video on how to prime! Check it out :)
I ARE losing it😂😂😂
Great.
I lost 31 pounds but put on 2 pounds in last 2 days. I barely eat. For that fact after 6 months I suddenly got nausea, vomiting and EXTREME water diarrhea going like 50-60 times a day. I don't get it, guessing I was just meant to be fat. My doctor told me to eat less! There are days I only eat like 300-500 calories. This is to control my diabetes, and it is, but this malnutrition stuff I am not happy with. Pretty sure if you were not anorexic or bulimic before Ozempic you sure will be after taking it.
So sorry to hear that you have had such a rough time! It is definitely not a great fit for everyone. I hope you feel better soon.
After taking ozempic, I vomitted three times the following day🥺 I felt fatigue and headache too. Due to that, the portion I ate was minimized almost up to 1/4 of what I usually eat since I had a trauma puking from time to.time especially since I am at work. Does that symptom last throughout while taking it or it is still just for a few days after first dose? I was given 0.5mg by my doctor since this was still my first time.
So sorry to hear that! Most people start at a lower dose, usually 0.25 mg. For some people, they feel sick for a few days after their injection but it does tend to subside over time when your body gets used to the medication.
great video its been a month now and i lost the initial 10 pounds of water that is all, i lift weight 5-6 times per week and do cardio boxing and rowing. Lets see how it goes.
That is awesome that you are doing all that resistance training! It will help you retain your muscle mass and lose fat mass instead
I’m 1 month in. Some stomach discomfort, some diarrhea. Starting to even out. Had my first person say I look thinner (and no one knows I’m on it). However, the last few days I’ve had miserable fatigue. To be fair I have had issues with that here and there in the past. I’m still hungry but I can only eat 2 full meals per day. It’s easier to fast. It’s easier to stop eating as opposed to my usual overeating. It’s easier to not have as much of a sweet snack at night. I used to get low blood sugar bouts if active while intermittent fasting. Since getting on semaglutide I have not noticed that. Edit: just weighed in at my 1 month mark- down 5 pounds.
That is so amazing that it is getting easier to listen to “hunger and fullness cues” and avoid snacking on sweets! Sorry to hear about the fatigue, that is certainly a common side effect. Make sure you are consuming an adequate amount of protein and check in with your doctor if it does not resolve (which is usually does for most people!)
I m having severe pain in tummy where i injected the pen. 😮. Little bit of nausea. Grumpy lack of sleep.
So sorry to hear that! Severe pain at the injection site is not normal - I would speak to your doctor. I have a few patients who have trouble sleeping after their injection too.
Guess we know she works for the pharma spin
@@brianringham9745 I don’t get paid a cent to prescribe meds…And none of my content is sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. If that was the case, of course there would be a disclaimer ;)
The drug literature says 15% of patients won’t lose any weight on these GLP-1 Agonists. My theory is that THOSE people don’t have low GLP-1 in the first place. IMO these are the folks who have massive side effects and don’t lose weight, and may even have weight GAIN. DOCS SHOULD TEST A PATIENT’s GLP-1 hormone level BEFORE rxing Wegovy. Lowering of our GLP-1 levels MAY have something to do with GMO foods, processed foods, chemicals and preservatives, not to mention crime, air pollution, etc. Maybe the ppl with Normal GLP-1 levels usually avoid processed and GMO foods, so their levels are lower.
The chemicals in our food and our environments likely do have a role in obesity, for sure! You are right, it is way more complicated than just a single hormone
Drug companies - mostly in China - are only putting out poison.
Legitimate Ozempic is only manufactured in North Carolina and Denmark. Do not purchase ANY from China!
most perfect demonstration, thank you, thank you!!

There is a question about dosage. Pen: 0.25 mg. The volume is indicated on the pen itself: 1.5 ml. The pen is designed for 4 injections (4 needles in the set). At the same time, the maximum division when scrolling the pen is 0.25 mg. So after using 4 doses of 0.25 mg there is still 0.5ml left in the pen with no more needles? I was looking for information on this topic, I saw message that you should take: 0.25mg 2 times, and 0.5mg the next 2 times. Is that correct? And if so, the problem: the maximum division on the pen is 0,25 mg. So it turns out it's twice to be injected in one go? P.S. Sorry for my English.
@@MarkLikont Actually, the low dose pen can dialed in to deliver either a 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg dose. There is 2 mg total in the 1.5 ml pen and each ml contains 1.34 mg of semaglutide. So 1.5 ml x 1.34 mg = 2 mg total in the pen. It comes with 6 needles. Your first pen can deliver 4 doses at 0.25 mg and 2 doses at 0.5 mg. The recommended dosing titration is 4 weeks at 0.25 mg, then 4 weeks at 0.5 mg before increasing to 1 mg. Hope that helps!
What happens if you forgot to hold down and just clicked the bottom on the top. Does that mean no medicine was injected?
@@user-ow7dj5ol6g you may not have gotten the full dose, but most of it likely was injected if the dose indicator returned to zero

You forgot one of the most important steps. Saw the area with alcohol. You need to remake this.
@@JessicaDarling527 incorrect, you do not need to use an alcohol swab. This is clear in the drug monograph and injection instructions from Novo Nordisk.
Why does it come with 6 needles if it's only dosed for 4 weeks
@@daisysolis6409 because when starting out on the low dose pen, the first one will last 6 weeks (4 weeks at 0.235 mg, then another 2 doses at 0.5 mg)
Hi, ive been looking through videos to help me figure out how to take this, i just received my ozempic today and my doctor wants to to take a 1mg dose once a week for 84 days. I've seen videos where they say to start with a lower dose for a month and increase it until the third month where they should take the 1mg. Im feeling anxious about taking this , can you please help me? Thank you.
@@doralevitt2879 hello, if you have not been on this medication or a similar one like saxenda, the dosing recommendations are usually to start at 0.25 mg for 4 weeks, then 0.5 mg for 4 weeks before increasing to 1 mg

Shouldn't you alcohol both the rubber stopper before attaching the needle and the skin before injecting?
@@christopherschroeder3231 not necessary!
@@watkinsmetabolic you're entering a sterile area (the aloquat) and breaking the skin. How is cleaning not necessary?
@@christopherschroeder3231 if you feel more comfortable using an alcohol swab, there is no harm in doing so! But as long as your skin is clean and you are using a new (sterile) needle each time, it is not necessary. This is in keeping with best practices recommended by the WHO.
Really like the vid, honetsly though, there needs to be a better applicator for the product. =) regards from oversea, nice, calm tutorial
Lipedema, which can go with obseity, causes pain. Do you have any experience working with Lipedema patients? The Lipedema community desperately needs a voice.
@@christinem1772 thank you for pointing this out!! Lipedema can be very painful and difficult to treat. There are only a few select doctors who manage it, and they can be hard to find. Depending on where you live, there may be a national organization (ie like lipedemacanada.org) that provides education and promotes advocacy.
@@watkinsmetabolic Thanks! I'm in Kingston, and sadly nothing here, or at least not well advertised.
@@christinem1772 no, unfortunately nothing local here. There are some contacts in Alberta and Quebec I am aware of, but most of their patients go to Germany or the USA for surgery. Not sure if anyone locally does compression stockings specifically for lipedema.
I do my injection every Friday night. I just finished my 1-4 weeks 5 units, I only had one time stomach pain on my 2nd shot on my thighs. Now I'm on 5-8 weeks and I just started my first 10 units and I did it in my stomach, I got a small lump after shot is this normal and how long the side effects kick in after injection? If I don't feel any side effect is that normal?
@@elw423 glad to hear things are going well! A small lump is normal after an injection and it is also totally normal not to have any side effects at all :) How long it takes for them to kick in varies, but usually within ~3 days after the injection
Why wouldn't I throw away the needles? They already been used
At 3:42 in the video, we mention that you should take the used needles to a sharps container or your pharmacy for safe disposal. Simply throwing them away in the trash creates a hazard for your waste collection personnel.
i know someone who has been on ozempic for 8 months now and they have lost 60 pounds...
ozempic works it destroys your appetite so how can anyone on it not reduce there calories..
Since you had already took a first dose with this pen video example, you should mention that when the multi-dose pen is new, after installing needle #1, turn the dial just after zero (where a dotted line is shown), then hold the pen with needle pointing up, and press the injection button to confirm a drop of med comes out of the needle. Need only to be done once with each new multi-dose pen.

Should I be doing fasting with Ozempic since now I’m not hungry all day it’s much easier.
@@DistractedDaisy best to check with your doctor to make sure it is a safe option for you. But forcing yourself to eat when you aren’t hungry often does prevent weight loss!
Thank u. Begin tomorrow and was nervous. Unsure which pen I have but now know how to use them.
@@marciadichiara5688 good luck!
Why is there 6 needles if 4 is only needed. If it's 28 days, 1 weekly? Are they extra?
@@LauraMorales-cw4dn the low dose pens come with 6 needles, cause most people when they are starting the medication do 4 weeks at 0.25 mg before increasing to 0.5 mg. So, there are still 2 doses at 0.5 mg left in the pen - that is why there are six needles, for 6 weeks, The higher dose pens (1 mg or 2 mg) normally come with 4 needles.
This i agree whole heartily
No priming??

I was on Semiglutide compound for 4 months then Wegovy for another 6months. Lost maximum of 20lbs but during that time I would go back up 10 pounds. Didn’t seem that affective on me once my body got used to it. I never got to the point where I didn’t feel like eating like others said. I definitely ate less than before but I wasn’t a horrible eater anyways. I don’t drink soda and I gave have up more sugar and salty food. Less carbs but still more than recommended. That’s a hard one to give up since I’m Asian and eat rice or noodles almost every meal. Now I’m just off of it completely and feel defeated.!

The second dosis has to say .50? Or it always go to .25?
Normally the dosing starts at 0.25 mg for 4 weeks before you increase to 0.5 mg. But it would be best to check with your prescribing doctor for specific advice for you based on how you are tolerating the medication!
Thank you. This was helpful as my memory doesn't retain information until I've done it a few times.
You're welcome! So glad that you found it helpful!
Ozempic is a powerful diabetic drug that is used for diabetes. It's given to people when they're normal diabetic insulin it's not enough, taking without being a diabetic will drop your sugar level down to very low and dangerous levels you can die from it. Or destroy your kidneys so badly that you will need to be put on dialysis. And people on dialysis have a maximum lifespan of about 5 to 7 years I know this cuz because I take ozempic and my regular insulin wasn't dropping my sugar. There are times when my sugar drops so low I pass out from lack of sugar caused by the ozempic and this is exactly the reason why someone should not be given ozempic to anybody who is not a diabetic
Semaglutide is approved for weight loss across the world. It has been shown to be safe in clinical trials.
I keep mine in the fridge i hope thats ok

I'm actually the opposite? Loss abt 10 pounds on tge first 2 month but then plateaud after that.
A lot of people do notice a dramatic effect at the beginning and then it tapers off - at this point I always have a chat about optimizing weight training and nutrition. But you are definitely not alone! Many medications have a significant effect when you start them and then your body kind of “gets used to them.”
