Very cute locomotive. Great video! Greetings from a new subscriber!
The triang hornby "Nellie" tank, loosely based on a ex London & Southwestern Railways 0-4-0t (c14 class I think?). A firm favourite of most modellers, very basic, nice looking, almost indestructible! I have a couple of these, they can be easyily improved with the addition of handrails, smoke box dart, windows etc. None of mine are identical, great fun!
11:12 amazing
Many years ago, my wife arrived home having bought me one of these whilst looking round some antique / second hand shops, fortunately it was in running order, thanks from Australia.
I am dismayed at the condition of your collection! It's not often I see steam engines in such bad condition!
Tf are you talking about, they look more than fine
Bluds probably mad he can’t afford one
Take it you’ve never seen one before then!
They may look bad but they run great
@ they don’t even look bad, lol
The dock shunter last appeared in the 1974 catalogue. So nearly fifty years old at its youngest. The model was a body on the transcontinental double ended diesel bogie. We a bit of TLC you can make a nice model.
Actually, the loco is an HO model of a North British (Mann powered) Type 1 Class 21. When this model was first manufactured, in the early 1960's, British Railways hadn't rebuilt any Class 21's, with more reliable & powerful Sulzer engines, to create Class 29's. The Class 29's didn't appear until 1967, with the last being withdrawn from service in 1971. By 1973, all Class 21's and Class 29's had been cut up for scrap. Later post 1967 versions, without the sausage motor, had more detailed & correct length bogies. Those were Class 29's.
They have a lot more detail than modern Hornby 0-4-0`s
I have the first Mamod you talked about, I’ve had it since I was a child, I got it in the late 60’s - very early 70’s. Hope this helps.
You overfilled the boiler on that first TE1A! You are not supposed to fill the boiler till the water runs out the safety valve hole but the till the water runs out the water level plug or water level sight glass on the newer ones. I hope you used distilled water and oiled it before you started running it. Nice machines! Looking for a TE1 myself!
6:45: 'gear lever' omg ha ha ha, ha ha ha, the more you say the more ignorance you show.
No need to be ignorant yourself
6:51 “it’s not really a gear lever” If you actually listen you’d have heard this
if you haven't 'done research' and you 'dunno much about the work station, really' why the hell are you makin a video. stoopid boy
'sorry about that' you should be................
“Stooped”……… wow, the irony
mamod is correctly pronounced 'may mod'
You’ve proved yourself wrong, if it was pronounced Maymod… it would be spelt maymod 😂, your either American or just looking for attention,
No it isn’t
thats a 1950s se3
An impressive line-up that brings back some fond memories - thank you! 🙂 Some four decades ago a friend was headmaster at local school and his 'Mamod' steam Saturdays were always very popular with the kids (used to take my Mamod traction engine and Wilesco D22 station engine along). Sadly I now doubt if very few children even know what a 'Mamod' is. 🤔
ya I don't think any kids nowadays have a clue what mamod is they probably don't even know what a steam engine is luckily I'm 14 and have loved tinkering with all kinds of engine's since I was maybe 7 and steam engines have always fascinated me the most probably because I never grew up around or near them just now getting into buying mamod steam engines. 😄
Looks so good
Looks really good. The two standard tanks look lovley together. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thankyou very much, probably my favourite double header! Hope you and your family had a good Christmas!
So much activity - thank you for sharing. 🙂 Compliments of the Season Ticket! ❄🎄✨
Thanks for sharing that running session. Regards Tom
You will find. A. Wheel will come off. I had one.
Those coupling rods have been placed upside down for once thing. The points where the oil is fed into is on the underside
Nice work! The rods can make alot of difference. I restored a dublo loco (I think it was in a house fire as the back was melted away) I serviced the motor then straightened the rods and it made a big difference. Good work. I'm really enjoying this little series that your doing.
looks good! a while ago I did see some white metal castings for hornby terriers buffer beams. I'm not sure if they are still on ebay. looks good with the tankers. keep up the good work!
The Worthington's van is a PECO Wonderful Wagon kit. Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits cars travelled widely across Europe with CIWL being headquartered in Paris (possibly a Jouef or Lima model). CIWL sleeper cars also worked the Night Ferry from Gare du Nord to Victoria via the Dover train ferry.
That's a pretty good lot to be fair, the Annie and clarabels can be painted up as a nice rake of pre grouping coaches to go with the terrier. I know Peter spares made some brass castings of terrier bufferbeams so they could be fitted and painted. The circus van is a Thomas item but it's fairly sort after and can work in a fun circus train if you paint up or collect some related wagons.
Definitely a bargain. That circus van is a thomas and freinds thing. I wouldn't modify it as they are worth money. The j72 and terrier look good , bit if tlc and searching for bits on ebay and they'll be two good models
The pullman car is French, the French writing on the side being a hint
The Jouef 1960s motor design is brilliant. It has an internal flywheel effect. Shame they changed their mechanism to an inferior one in the 1970s.
Jué. Ju as in juice and raised e and silent f . Gotta look out for their Class 40s _ Fun fact HO is scale more accurate on the rail gauge that both HO/OO use . OO wheel gauge is too narrow based on reality
it's ajouef loco h o scale, split frme, and pickups on the axle solld as play raft in the mid sixtys
...... 🌟🌟🌟 👍 Phil Liverpool UK 🇬🇧
Brilliant,,, really glad you got her going. The big sausage motor lol. Strong little engine if I remember correctly. I used to hook all my coaches and wagons to it and it would go all day. The sound from the gear drive took me straight back there. Got to be 50yrs ago I had mine . Well worth £10 and some 3in1 oil. Thanks for sharing your vids. 👍😀😎👍👍👍👍 Green Diesel Lives again !!!! Thanks. 👍
I want one of the mamod and a wilesco
How do you fire these
I run mine on methylated spirits but you can also run them on mamod blocks!
Nice how did you get those I want to buy my own online so I can do my own whistle blow
You can find them on eBay or certain steam websites!
@@DanielsModels ok I will I did see a wilesco one that has a whistle too!
Hi thats one big motor glad you got it running
Most of the old Triang locos run better once warmed up .
Hi good job glad you got it running nice channel i have subscribed
They are great runners and often just need a bit of oil.
Your stuttering running is due to the pickup on the wheels, it should contact both wheels, part of it is broken off
...ha! got one of those, got it from car boot sale 10 years ago runs perfectly, testament to the solid build quality of years gone by. Great video thank you 👌
I'm just curious, Why you have no steam engine from Wilesco?
Most likely because we’re in the uk and their not as easy to get
Wash the body in some tepid water and give it a coat of paint, Service the motor as well please do not use 3 in 1 oil because it damages the body it makes the plastic very brittle . Tri-ang locos if they looked after and service there go on for another 50 years
nice one,jpj
£10 was a great price
I have one of these shunters I got it for a fiver at a jumble sale years ago it runs really well.
Hi, The 2 Triang flatbed trucks used to have drums on them. The also had 2 small metal poles sticking out of the holes in the middle of the body. Or they were the bolster wagon for the small Triang crane. Te Jouef engine is H0 not 00. It is worth nothing. The dock shunter and 0-4-0 tank engine can be made up to be nice engines. Both look like they have the wheels for series 3 track and would need replacing t run properly on modern track. There is a chap on Ebay who sells replacement wheel sets for these engines.
Hi Daniel, I gave a few of these and some run better than others. The wheels and the motor are the two big issues with a poor ratio and the wheels being too large. It gets expensive trying to upgrade these but they do look good. Great job. Can we see a revues of your layout and what size is it? Cheers
