We still die in these bodies but the permanent death that we would have received otherwise is removed if we repent and follow Jesus. Israelites in the Old Testament used to sacrifice animals to atone for their iniquities.. but animal sacrifice could never be enough as human life cannot be substituted with animal life (its like trading samsung galaxy s24 for a piece of pizza) and this explains why they kept sacrificing animals year in year out, so inorder to remedy this a human life was necessary to atone for the life of a fellow human.. but sadly no human was clean enough to take the sins of others let alone theirs, what about angels you may ask.. well angels too are not human equivalent.. so God himself had to become that human being that would die for the human race.. but it was also necessary that he should not be born of a man as we were all fallen from Adam.. thus 'the seed of the woman' promise in Genesis came in.. Jesus could not be born of a man, but by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of a virgin woman.. and thus fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law so that anyone who will believe that He died for their sins will receive mercy on the account of Jesus Christ. This is the gospel, the good news of the cross.. on account of Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven, we are restored to be God's children Hallelujah!
